If she says 2016 Omg!, it must be Omg!

If she says 2016 Omg!, it must be Omg!

One of our closest friends in Rhode Island, someone we adore, someone not prone to hyperbole, a Northeast Republican, bless her heart, someone who never texts me …

Not the type of person who, if she blogged, would make excessive use of exclamation points …

Just sent a text to my wife and me as follows:

have you seen the movie 2016 yet? Omg!

It might be enough to get me back into the movie theater, breaking my unofficial unannounced boycott of Hollywood.

Update 8-28-2012: Pete DaTechGuy has a review of the film:

I keep hearing that.

I’m not a big Dinesh D’souza fan, and I was somewhat resistant to the idea that anti-colonialism was some kind of key to the puzzle of BHO. But I saw the movie and it’s very, very good. D’souza is the perfect person to make this case, and it’s well made. I especially liked how un-ideological it is, in that it presents the left’s case for its approach — and the phenomenon of Obama — in its own terms. That makes the ultimate indictment much more powerful. Go see the movie.

I agree. I am generally not a D’Souza fan, but he does a great job with this and while anti-colonialism is not the whole story of Barack Obama, it is definitely part of the story. D’Souza’s arguments are persuasive.

I could not agree more! I drove an hour today to see the movie in Asheville, NC. At 12:45 on a Monday, the theatre was half full-no other films seemed to be attracting an audience at that time!

There were “young people” there, as well as those on or approaching Medicare age.

Spontaneous applause broke out at the end of the film, and everyone was very quiet upon leaving the theatre- reflecting on what we’d just seen, I think. There was a line that had formed for the next show- it is amazing how this movie is catching fire.

I saw it today. It’s well done. I knew most of the info already, but if I didn’t and most people don’t, I would be all OMGWTF!!??!!

See it and take a friend or 3. I’m amazed that it’s actually in 3 theaters in RI.

Certainly worth seeing. It’s playing for the 2d week now in Left-of-Lenin Ithaca NY so it must be drawing here.

The prerequisite for liberty is a people capable of self-moderating behavior. As we dream of instant gratification (i.e. physical, material, ego), we will necessarily have our liberty constrained.

While Obama may be leading the struggle to corrupt our society, he is certainly not alone in this effort. Cultural corruption is the source of our crisis, but corruption in the exception will only serve to exacerbate its effect. Both forms of corruption must be addressed. The former must resolved first as it defends the latter.

Obama senior’s dreams reflect a selective reality, which do not hold every antagonist equally accountable, and certainly not the principal actors. His dreams reflect contemporary activism, which abide or ignore the worst transgressions because the work is personally, economically, and politically motivated. His dreams violate civil rights, human rights, and represent negative progress by any reasonable measure.

That said, hopefully corruption in the exception will not replace fundamental corruption. Neither serves the interests of individuals, families, communities, or society.

What if the truth about Obama finally breaks through the Major Media “plexiglass ceiling”, that has been reinforced to defend Obama’s messianic persona?

What if a tide of truth overwhelms big media, and a mania takes hold, as people realize their emperor has no clothes … it was all photoshop?

It really seems the truth could start leaking out … and Obama’s middle finger in the dike will not stop the floods.

I used to spread the word about “The Roots of Obama’s Rage”, with little reaction … looks like it is finally catching on … Catch the wave!

We went to see it last night. As Pablo said, you will probably already be aware of most of the info, but many people aren’t. It was extremely well done. If nothing else, it may open a few eyes, especially for those people who only get their news from the mainstream media. The theater was full. At the end of the film, the audience in the theater applauded.

I recommend that everyone see it, even those who love Obama. But of course we know that the people who need to see it most, won’t.

I went to the movie with a friend, who is a conservative actor. We both went in without expectations, but came away having really been entertained and informed. The interviews involving those who knew Obama’s parents were eye-opening. The best part was the interview with Obama’s half-brother, George Obama. George believes in self-reliance and capitalism. Check out my friend’s review here, which gives professional, insightful perspective: http://wordwarriorsandiego.wordpress.com/2012/08/20/obamas-america-downsizing-the-usa/

I haven’t seen it but the LA Times hated it, so I’m betting it’s pretty good.

“But Moore’s work and the genre itself come with an implicit understanding that whatever truths emerge, they were ultimately forged by the process, not set in stone beforehand.”

From the LA Times critique. ‘Nuff said…

We saw it Saturday in Northern Cook County (Chicagoland). The audience was mostly mature, heavily Jewish (how do I know? Believe me…Glencoe, Highland Park, Deerfield, etc.). The theater was full. I looked around from time to time and everyone was glued to the screen. Applause broke out at the end (prompted by my dh, actually—I was afraid to clap lest it sound like the end of “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In”).

I guarantee the audience was mostly Obama voters…as one of the best lines in the movie said–people voted for him so they could say, “Well, I made a mistake, but I am not a racist.” My dh was not aware of all of the points made, and he’s a real political junkie.

Made a very strong impression. There was a cranky-pants review of it in the Chicago Tribune this morning…trying to compare D’Souza to Michael Moore. Yeah, right, sure.

If you haven’t seen it, it is opening in many more theaters all the time. Movie theaters don’t care what sells (look at most of the garbage on the screens anyway), they care about selling tickets, and this was a full theater.

Odd side note, all the previews were for children’s movies….

I’d rather have a root canal than go to a movie theater. Is 2016 on Netflix Instant yet?

Sometimes you need to go to the dentist! Trust me, you will fine the experience better than other films (a better class of film goers will be there).

We’ve seen it twice this week. It is an excellent film, even though we knew most of the material already.

D’Souza gets to present this history in a way that no white, US born filmmaker ever could. The movie was like watching a prosecutor carefully, thoughtfully building a case. George Obama is a very compelling figure in the movie, as is Barack’s mother. You really get a sense of how completely screwed up she was. There’s no doubt in my mind that she was a Communist sympathizer and has a lot to answer for…

The visual impact is powerful, too. You “get” what Obama is trying to do to our nation through the destruction of our economy and our military, and how nations that are following the traditional western model are now surpassing us. One point D’Souza makes, ever so subtly, is that the poor and elderly in America are still wealthy by 3rd world standards, and that Obama’s sympathies lie with the non-white 3rd world. Americans really, really need to let that sink in.

It’s actually showing in several RI-area theaters. OMG!

Saw 2016 Saturday in VA. Excellent! Hope you will break your boycott this once, as I would be interested in hearing what you thought about it.

The wife and I are going to go see it … in Ithaca! Maybe I should live tweet the experience.

I wouldn’t presume to tell you what to do, Prof, but may I recommend that you live tweet 2016 the second time you go watch it? Let the first time be total concentration. . .

huskers-for-palin | August 27, 2012 at 9:32 pm

I’ve seen the movie twice and have brought several “indie” friends with me. There were shocked at what they saw and plan to vote for Romney.

I won’t see it because I cannot tolerate watching or listening to Obama anymore. And I did all my research on him in 2007.

I’m delighted it’s doing well. I work in Hollywood and it is unsurprising to hear the reaction — mostly denial and scorn. It is unbearable as well as unbelievable to these people that such a movie could be doing so well.

olddominionmoron | August 27, 2012 at 10:21 pm

I saw it today with my dad ( 77 and retired military officer, me- middle aged married father of 3). I think i may have been the youngest, but the crowd left the 2pm show in a stunned silence. The theater was about just over 1/3 full. He lays out a compelling case. We saw the movie in the theater that is just blocks away from where obama will be on Wednesday. Downtown Charlottesville. The Ntelos Pavillion holds about 3,500 people. Obama campaign rejected the offer to jold his event at the John Paul Jones Arena, which holds 16,000 people. Too many empty seats is too hard to cover up. Heh.

Went to a 4:55pm showing of 2016 today, Monday afternoon in Virginia Beach. There are seven screen showing 2016, five to six times a day, withing a fifty mile radius. The boxoffice said that 2016 ticket sales had been steady all day (two earlier shows at this cinema).
At least thirty in attendance for the showing at this less-than-prime-time viewing. Spontaneous applause at the end. One person yelled at the screen (when showing Big Ears) “GO TO HELL” Also, very sober looks from all as they departed. Dogzilla, – excellent comment. I really appreciated how D’Souza began by introducing not Big Ears, but rather his own personal experience, coming to America. He unfolds the story deliberately and piece by piece, leaving you gasping in horror at the the implications of a second Voldemort term.

2016 – go see it !

Even though you cannot tolerate listening to the JEF, the very comment you made (quoted) above, is the very reason that you SHOULD watch it.

I saw it the day it came out in our area. We went to the first showing on Friday at 1:45PM. The place was packed with only a couple of empty seats in the very first row. The audience was rapt and applause broke out here, too.

It was very well done. I ended up feeling somewhat sorry for Obama even though I’ve been onto him since I first saw him in 2004. He was abandoned by everyone close to him. No wonder he thinks the government should be your nanny.
my unofficial unannounced boycott of Hollywood
I have one of these going on, too (well, it’s kind of unannounced in that no way in heck am I spending my money on leftist loons who call me a RAAACIST and want me to be raped and murdered way I have of slipping it, subtly, into comments 😉 ). But this is conservative, so I feel confident that I can go and see it. Besides, “omg!” from a reserved Northeast Republican is definitely high praise.
