Blogger exposes MSNBC video fraud (while eating Cheetos)

Via SooperMexican( emphasis in original):

Today it’s being widely reported that Romney had a moment were he was amazed at the existence of WAWAs, a convenience/gas store, and the electronic touchtone ordering of sandwiches. They have spun this to make it seem like he’s out of touchBUT THE VIDEO IS EDITED DECEPTIVELY:

In actuality, Mitt was contrasting the ridiculous over-regulation of the public sector, with the efficiency of the private sector, and used the electronic ordering system at WAWAs as an example – here’s the FULL video from a Ron Paulestinian in the crowd:

….

Mitt continues in the video at about 2:45:

“And then I was at a WAWAs and ordered a sandwich… you have a touchtone keypad, and you touch that, touch this, go pay the cashier, there’s your sandwich. It’s amazing!”

This is where the media cut the video to distort the truth. GOTCHA, you slimy little maggots!!

“People in the private sector have learned to compete and it’s time to bring some competition to the Federal Government and to get it smaller, and have them respond to the customers, which are YOU!!”

Even Politico calls MSNBC out, MSNBC mischaracterizes Romney remarks:

But in the MSNBC clip, which first aired on Andrea Mitchell Reports, Romney’s remarks begin with the WaWa anecdote and end at “It’s amazing,” an edit — first noted by conservative blogger Sooper Mexican — that makes it seem as though Romney was expressing amazement at the advent of touchtone screens.

The MSNBC clip feeds into the narrative, beloved by some on the left, that Romney is a 1950’s throwback. After the clip cut, Mitchell and MSNBC contributor Chris Cillizza broke out into laughter — which is understandable, given that they both had been led to believe that Romney was wowed by a simple machine. In fact, what Romney found so “amazing” was the discord between private sector innovation and public sector bureaucracy.

A spokesperson with MSNBC said she is looking into the matter. I will update here if and when I hear back.

Fight the MSNBC WaWa smears.  And pass the Cheetos.

Does anybody even watch MSNBC?

I watch as much as I can tolerate.

In the days of old, you had to send a spy into the enemy camp in hopes to gain intelligence of their strategery.

Now, just click the remote–they broadcast it on national tv.

    Libs are so smart….

“Wait, so a regular person can have their own video? That they recorded on a phone? And they can post it on their blog?

That’s amazing!”

Can’t stand Cheetos but do like Carrot Sticks, yummy!

Remember, not everyone is alike, we Conservatives are Human people not OBots!

🙂

You missed that Obummer’s campaign staff already ran with it. https://twitter.com/Lis_Smith/status/214786914107129857

Moe Lane points out this was possible because somebody had a full video of the event.

He says, “TAKE A VIDEO CAMERA” three times (or words to that effect).

Excellent advice. Think about all the times we’ve been able to see the truth, when we would not just a few years ago.

I have a video camera in my pocket, but I have trouble remembering my phone has that capability. Such an interesting world…

“expressing amazement at the advent of touchtone screens”

I wish they would stop doubling down.

Touchtone? TOUCHTONE?!?

Hey Politico, 1970 is calling; they want their landlines back.

“A spokesperson with MSNBC said she is looking into the matter.”

No need. The matter has already been looked into. A long time ago. Our conclusion: you’re finished.

Must be an East coast thing. We don’t have WAWA’s in the Midwest. Yet.
At least, I’ve never seen one.
Then again, I wouldn’t eat a sandwich from a convenience store or gas station. Does that make me a snob?

Ragspierre in reply to Tamminator. | June 19, 2012 at 9:04 am

I was told by my parents, “You aren’t hungry, then”. And, I later learned in life, they were right!

There are quite a few things I’ve eaten, when I got hungry enough. And been grateful to have it, too!

Tamminator in reply to Ragspierre. | June 19, 2012 at 9:38 pm

Rags, I’d rather eat a sandwich I make at home. And it’s cheaper. And I know whose hands have touched it.
Your mother would call me wise.

Tagim in reply to Tamminator. | June 19, 2012 at 10:01 am

I live less in Western New York less than 100 miles from the PA border and I’ve never heard of WaWa’s or seen touch screen machines for ordering sandwiches either.

William A. Jacobson in reply to Tagim. | June 19, 2012 at 10:12 am

Now you can’t run for President.

Spiny Norman in reply to Tagim. | June 19, 2012 at 1:28 pm

They have touch screen ordering kiosks at Jack-in-the-Box hamburger joints here in California. They’re very convenient if you’re making a special order (rather than trying to explain it to the kid behind the register).

    nordic_prince in reply to Tamminator. | June 19, 2012 at 10:29 am

Yeah, I was wondering what a “WaWa” was – still am. Sounds like baby talk.

Hey, MSNBC – get your head out of your parochial shorts.

TryingToBeHopeful in reply to Tamminator. | June 19, 2012 at 1:48 pm

Well, I guess you’ve never been to Buc-ee’s (pronounced Bucky’s) in Texas! They’re so awesome, the ordering screen is at the GAS PUMP! You can order a hot sandwich (and they’re really good), pump your gas, then go inside and pick it up. And maybe a Dr. Pepper Icee while you’re at it 😉 They have billboards on I-45 between Houston and Dallas, advertising the “cleanest restrooms in Texas!” They’re right–and you never pass the Buc-ee’s in Madisonville (about halfway between Houston and Dallas) without seeing the huge parking lot COMPLETELY full. It’s an “amazing” store and business model 🙂

Conservative Beaner in reply to TryingToBeHopeful. | June 19, 2012 at 6:15 pm

They also have one on I-10 midway between Houston and San Antonio and a new one North of San Marcos on I-35. It’s easy to order, get your number and pick up your order at your convenience.

When I was a child I used to dream of there being a big board which had every nice food stored behind it & when I touched an item it would magically appear.

In real life we never had a biscuit as the Kate & Anna MacGarrigle song says. I turned to crime to get these lollies. On railway stations there appeared sweet dispensers that required one shilling coins. My brother & I beat uo halfpennies with a hammer to fit the slots.

Fastforward 45 years & it is really quite amazing. We should never forget when food was much more scarce. But then again look at how thin everyone was.

Andrea of course can remember the forties.

Since the anniversary of Quayle’s “potatoe” gaffe is so lovingly remembered by these folks, can this be an attempt at reliving their cherished memories of Bush senior and the checkout scanner?

Jack Nicholson in “A Few Good Men”: “You can’t handle the truth”.
Neither can democrats. It hurts when it bites them.

A spokesperson with MSNBC said she is looking into the matter. I will update here if and when I hear back.

[crickets chirping]

Still waiting, aren’t we!

The msm is not just biased; rather, it affirmatively distorts the news. This is analogous to Obama, who does not just make bad decisions; rather, he makes decisions intentionally designed to weaken the United States.

A point Rush has made that I find devastating…

He’s not just feckless. He is way too consistent for that. If it were only ineptness at work, he’d do some things right, just by the law of averages.

VetHusbandFather | June 19, 2012 at 9:59 am

Okay now even if MSNBC didn’t butcher that tape… how many people here would be surprised to go somewhere and order a sandwich the way Mitt describes? I’ve lived in New York, Massachusettes, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Colorado, California, Idaho, and Washington. I’ve never seen anything like that. If Mitt is supposedly out of touch on “wawa’s”, how much of the rest of the nation is?

And we wonder why Sen. Brown would like the local media sponsering the debates and not MSNBC?

MaggotAtBroadAndWall | June 19, 2012 at 10:12 am

I am personally offended that Sooper Mexican elevated the status of MSNBC to that of an honorable “slimy maggot”.

Mitchell billed this as a George H.W. Bush moment for Romney, but it turns out it was a Dan Rather moment for Andrea Mitchell. (from Hot Air Comment by PerceptorII)

Unbelievable dishonesty except that is very, very believable.

“The MSNBC clip feeds into the narrative, beloved by some on the left, that Romney is a 1950′s throwback.”

They love that narrative because they hope to blunt the criticism, soundly based, that Barack Obama and his administration are throwbacks to the 60s.

To watch this administration is to come away with the distinct feeling that these people are completely unaware that the 1963 Civil Rights Act, and Title VII and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, were ever passed. Even the Fast & Furious scandal looks like an attempt to get support to pass the stronger gun-control legislation, and their chosen method is to pretend that the existing enforcement mechanisms were never constructed.

Further, they seem blind to the outcome of American experiments with market manipulation and tax policy during the Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush administrations.

They engage in wholesale denial of the scientific developments in the field of climate studies, from the improved air and water quality to evidence that our climate is NOT changing rapidly enough to register in our time frame, to the frauds perpetuated by the same hysterics who had previously tried to scare us with the Nuclear Winter.

The supporters of the Obama Administration are a bunch of Rip Van Winkles hell-bent on resolving the issues of the 50s and 60s all over again. It’s 2012. We need an administration that can take into account the events of the last 50-60 years.

I can’t watch the video on my laptop, but based on the quotation I don’t find anything laughable with regard to Romney’s cropped comment. I often express amazement at technological advances even when they aren’t recent, not because of novelty but because of human ingenuity. I appreciate the fact that people come up with ideas that make my life easier and more enjoyable, and I appreciate a culture that encourages and celebrates innovation–not through government theft and “stimulus” but through voluntary exchanges in the free market.

Of course, Romney went on to explain something similar, namely that innovation in the face of competition is amazing. But there’s nothing in the cropped comment that even suggests that his amazement might be due to mere novelty — though I can see how shallow people who think that amazement should be limited toward novelties might interpret the comment that way.

I saw that MSNBS clip run on FOXNews

Cheeto munchers 1 – msm liberal idiots 0

I watched a John Stossel show a few weeks ago where he mocked the administration’s “Yes We Can” with “No They Can’t” and showed example after example on how government fails miserably in most endeavors.

I have no problem with government becoming smaller… Much smaller if you please!

[…] William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection, who quotes Politico. Original story broken by SooperMexican.  Posted by Robert Hewes at […]

According to Politico, Mitchell is addressing the matter in today’s show.

The show should have already aired. I wonder if Mitchell did the smart thing and apologized, or if she got in touch with her inner Dan Rather (or inner Elizabeth Warren) and doubled down.

MaggotAtBroadAndWall | June 19, 2012 at 3:03 pm

Wow. Andrea Mitchell spent a grand total of about 10 seconds today saying she did not air more of the tape because of time constraints.

In other words, after taking the time to deceptively cut up the tape and put it back together, there was not enough time to present Willard’s remarks in context.

The network of Huntley, Brinkley, and Brokaw is essentially acknowledging that it is nothing more than a propaganda outlet. How the mighty have fallen.

BOYCOTT CHEETOS!!!!!

Conservative Beaner | June 19, 2012 at 6:21 pm

What irks me is the major networks (ABC/CBS/NBC) are using the public airwaves to spread their propaganda. I wish a Republican administration would have the spine and pull their license. Of course the only problem is the Liberals would retaliate by pulling the license of talk radio stations.
