Can Israel Survive A Second Obama Term? Part 2

Can Israel Survive A Second Obama Term? Part 2

On June 6, 2010, I asked the question Can Israel Survive A Second Obama Term?

This past week has seen the coming together of the growing Islamist-Leftist Coalition in the war against Israel.

Leftists who, among other things, claim to believe in freedom of speech, women’s rights and equality for gays, are in political bed with people who would cut their throats for blasphemy, revel in abhorrent misogyny, and execute gays….

Obama administration oratory and actions have rekindled hope for the destruction of Israel, and thereby unleashed the beast.

The damage done so far may not be irreparable, but we are on an incredibly destructive trajectory.

I really wonder whether Israel can survive a second Obama term.

Since then, it has grown worse.  Israel is more isolated than ever not because of anything Israel has done, but because of the rise of the Islamists in Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and elsewhere in the Middle East.

Yet the Obama administration continues to blame Israel for the isolation, with Leon Panetta singling out Israel for the breakdown of talks with Mahmoud Abbas and the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium blaming Israel’s failure to resolve the conflict’ for the rise of Islamist anti-Semitism.

It is true that the Obama administration has provided Israel with significant military resources, including bunker busting bombs. But at the same time it has undercut Israel at every turn short of complete capitulation to the worldwide anti-Israel crusade.  Does anyone doubt that if Obama were not facing a difficult reelection the U.S. would not have vetoed the U.N. resolution condeming Israel’s “settlement” activity as illegal, or be on board with the pending Palestinian Authority request for statehood?

Charles Krauthammer correctly assesses the situation, alhough time constraints certainly did not allow him to expand fully (via Right Scoop, h/t John):

As for the Ambassador to Belgium, one question: Where the hell do they find these people?

I’m just an average dummy and the dynamics of the situation are crystal clear to me … they should be to anybody of average and above intelligence.

Yeah, give ’em bunker busters … to use after the situation deteriorates in part due to your irresponsible treatment of an ally … so the world can condemn them yet again for a “disproportionate” response.

What am I not seeing that the Ambassador to Belgium sees? What is it I am not comprehending that buttresses his beliefs?

Is it too much to ask that our foreign service not publicly blame our allies for our allies’ enemies’ dysfunctions? Again and again? Absolutely pull-your-hair-out maddening.

Israel is forever.
Wasn’t there a similar situation in history in 1973 when Golda Meir was contemplating the “Samson” solution and Prime Minister Kissinger’s(a Jew) response was “let the Israelis bleed a little”. The President Nixon’s response was to send all the weapons Golda’s government needed. History says Nixon’s Quaker mother had told him when a boy that someday God would put him in a place to rescue Israel.

When Israel was born in 1948, history says she was surrounded and attacked by the Muslim surrounding nations, historians have recorded the miraculous victory of the Israeli military. Hashem, the G-d of Israel always prevails.
It is America that cannot survive Obama, not Israel.

But, Obama’s the greatest friend Israel ever had! I know this because he told me himself just three days ago:

“I try not to pat myself too much on the back, but this administration has done more for the security of the state of Israel than any previous administration.” Barack Obama

He said that in NY in a room full of Jews at a fundraiser. How he wasn’t met with howls of laughter after that whopper, and forced to flee the event, I’ll never understand.

Does the Israeli Defense Forces still take new trainees to Masada for their swearing in? Used to be they would. The story as I recall it, from a column by Stewart Alsop in the days when Newsweek was, in fact, a news magazine, goes something like this: Masada is the fortress once held by the Maccabees in a revolt against the Roman Empire. Seems when they were certain that they could hold out no longer against the besieging Roman army, they drew lots. The losers murdered the winners. Then 10 men were selected to murder all the rest of the murderers. Of the 10 who were left, one was selected to commit suicide, and he murdered the other 9. Seems suicide has eternal consequences more severe than murder. So the swearing in of new recruits includes the line “Masada will never fall again.” If that version is incorrect or needs updating, and needs correcting and updating, I would like to hear it. I think we need to wonder, if we will survive another obama term. Should the Israelis decide that it is time for drastic action, America has protected the bullies trying to destroy Israel, as have the nations of Europe. No point in taking out the bullies if the bully protector isn’t dealt with as well.

Now that the veneer of the Mubarak regime is being swept away, the contrast between an Muslim society and a Jewish one couldn’t be more stark. Why do we want to support the Mohammedans in anything? Saudi Arabia is loads of social turmoil waiting to boil over. The news over the horizon isn’t good.

If Buraq Hussein retains the White House by electoral or other means [Governor Beverly Purdue, Peter Orzag, and Van Jones; call your offices]; neither Israel nor the United States will survive without passing through a fire of intense heat. The survival of either is not guaranteed. And conditions have been arranged already to lay the fire and sparks are showering down upon the kindling.

It always comes down to one salient point and that is that Israel can depend only on itself to defend its people and nation. The USA must support Israel in all ways yet as Obama has shown us, the USA can be a fickle friend, as it was during Carter’s term.

So, yes, I’d like to see our country truly stand up for and support Israel, Obama will do what he can to raise money for his campaigns while also encouraging the enemies of Israel, and ours, while doing what he can, covertly or not, to harm Israel’s position.

Someone above said that Israel will survive Obama’s attempts to harm it. I hope that is true.
