Tim Pawlenty was the candidate who was going to be the not-Romney candidate conservatives could rally around.

A successful relatively conservative Governor of a blue state, someone who had managed well, had campaign organization, and could bridge the gap between the Tea Party and establishment wings of the Republican Party.

I did not see the New Hampshire debate last night because I was traveling, but the various news reports, including from mainstream conservative blogs, seem to indicate that Romney appeared presidential and in command, Bachmann got attention and likely name recognition, Pawlenty missed an opportunity, and the others on stage...

Tim Pawlenty released a web video tonight to preview his official announcement tomorrow that he’s running for President. 

Seems pretty hard hitting and the right tone to me.  Me thinks this guy might have some fight in him.

I have suggested long ago and again that Mitt Romney’s best strategy on Romneycare simply would be to admit it was a mistake, even though honest and serious distinctions could be drawn between Obamacare and Romneycare.  He has not done that, and the political wound still festers.
