We don’t know all the details of the negotiations between Mitch McConnell and the White House which apparently are closing in on an agreement, but one thing is clear, Harry Reid has become a sideshow.

The master of the Senate was left to denouncing Mitch McConnell as, basically, a liar for saying...

Things seem, maybe, possibly heading towards some sort of debt ceiling deal negotiated by Mitch McConnell directly with the White House.  Harry Reid just took to the floor of the Senate to announce that the vote on cloture on his bill will be postponed from 1 a.m. until noon 1...

Isn’t that what this all is about at this moment in time?

We just have to last another 18 months and win the presidential election, and then our long national nightmare will come to an end.  Until then, we’re just trying to limit the damage.

Until he put forth his “plan,” Mitch McConnell...

A reminder from Bill Kristol (h/t commenter Mike Hinton)

But even if [the McConnell plan] created a bad news day yesterday for Republicans, the good news is that it’s already yesterday’s news.

It’s House Republicans—not Senate minority leader McConnell—who will control tomorrow’s news.

It is dawn yet?  It was just a bad dream, right?

Because the more I think about Mitch McConnell’s proposal, the darker things are looking.

I tried in my initial post to be fair and balanced, and not simply reactive.  But it’s growing on me, and not in a good way.

The good news is that 98% of Americans probably have no idea what...

Below is the video in which Mitch McConnell sets forth his proposal, and here is the WaPo analysis:

McConnell’s proposal would have the effect of forcing Obama and congressional Democrats to take full responsibility for raising the debt limit, and require Democrats to vote on the matter as many as six times...

Mitch McConnell Sets The 2012 Narrative

I have praised Mitch McConnell before, when he was fighting an almost impossible battle to hold the line in the Senate on a variety of issues when the Democrats had a filibuster-proof or near filibuster-proof majority.

Now McConnell may have set the narrative for 2012 on the most important issue facing the...

She’s “going rogue.”  She’s broken Mitch McConnell’s “iron grip” on his caucus.  In the lame duck, she was Obama’s best friend.

She was permitted to keep her committee assignments and seniority when she lost the Republican primary and ran in the general election as an independent, in exchange for her promise to...
