Democrats have a real problem on their hands. Almost all of the energy is in the Bernie wing of the party, but rank and file Democrats are bothered by the fact that Bernie isn't even a party member.

Self-proclaimed socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) caused quite a commotion in 2016 when he challenged Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. Hillary came out on top, but not without controversy. Leaks showed those in the DNC worked to sabotage Sanders' campaign. The energy behind Sanders' presidential bid may still be abuzz as his former campaign manager Jeff Weaver said the senator is still mulling a 2020 run. But will it work? Politico found that his grassroots group Our Revolution is "in disarray."

Former NAACP president and current community organizer Ben Jealous is running for Maryland governor and early on received an enthusiastic endorsement from Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Since then, he's won the endorsements of Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) and now of Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA).  Both of whom are positioning themselves for a 2020 presidential bid. As a former board member of the Bernie campaign's latest incarnation, Our Revolution, Jealous' campaign site reads like the wishlist of the self-avowed socialist Sanders.

The field of Democrats running for president in 2020 is going to be huge. Now that the Clintons are out of the way, everyone is going to get into the game and there will be plenty of fresh, young faces. Yet they could end up with an older ticket.

As the Democratic Party lurches leftward and adopts a distinctly socialist stance, its political center has also shifted left.  Amazingly, this new Democratic Party considers among its centrists those figures we tend to think of as radical leftists:  Obama, Hillary, and to a lesser extent Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). Figures once considered fringe even among the left are now hailed as the voice of the party; these figures include self-proclaimed socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and radical progressive Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).  Sanders and more recently Warren have been strong proponents of single-payer and "free" college.  Thanks in large part to Bernie, much of the left, the Democrat base, thinks of itself as "Democratic Socialist."

Former Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) lashed out at his opponent failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for not doing anything about Russian interference despite having the knowledge and also pushed back that he knew Russian bots backed his campaign. His campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, also told Politico that he has never seen evidence that Russian bots supported Sanders.

As someone who studies the anti-Israel movement, the outburst on Twitter by pollster and Bernie Sanders backer James Zogby comes as no real surprise. But unless you study the bizarro alternate-universe of Israel hatred, this probably will leave you shaking your head in disbelief.

Earlier this week, Politico published an excerpt from former interim DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile where she said she found a document that showed a deal between failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the DNC. Brazile wrote that the agreement "specified that in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised." NBC News has published this memo, which shows the control given to Hillary and her campaign. This includes hiring of DNC employees acceptable to the fundraising committee Hillary for America (HFA).
