Rahm Emanuel’s insistence that Chick-fil-A bow to the icon of gay marriage had that effect, at least upon some. Chick-fil-A is not about gay marriage or Christianity at all, any more than the incident of William Tell was about a hat. It’s about power. It is morphing into an overt test of whether the cultural elite can have its way. The problem with National Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day is that it constitutes an act of open defiance by manifesting all too publicly the contempt that a fairly large segment of the population has for shibboleths of political correctness.
Nobody’s going to start a pogrom against homosexuals at a fast-food outlet. But events in the most ridiculous places can start a revolution, and that is precisely the problem. And then they won’t be singing the chicken song but something else.
I know this tip line depends upon links to other articles, but I wanted to let you guys notice something quite strange.
I did a check around media sources in the Houston Metro area – the Houston Chronicle, local TV stations, etc, to see if there was even a word uttered in this whole Chick-fil-A controversy by one person who probably had the most reasons to have a point to prove yesterday during the Appreciation Day: Mayor Anise Parker.
(For those who don’t know, Mayor Parker is openly lesbian, has a partner and children to boot.)
Again, I looked around to see any reaction coming from her and I found… nothing. Not a peep. Not even a cluck.
But if you want to look around the Web to see if you can fins something I might have missed, please do. And let me know what you find, please!
You’d think a Mayor of a major city in this nation who may have more reasons than Rahm Emanuel and Thomas Menino to be outraged at Chick-fil-A and call for the total closing of all franchises here in Houston at once – and there are LOTS and LOTS of them around here.
But nope. Nothing.
Just check it out and tell me if you find anything. OK?
Mayor Parker has said that she personally will not eat there, but that she would not use her political position to silence speech, which is probably the right move on her part.
Ted Cruz wasn’t the only Tea Party victory yesterday. The entire political establishment of Georgia (including the Republican governor and legislative leadership, plus the Democratic mayor of Atlanta and his machine), just got its collective ass royally kicked by the Tea Party. “TSPLOST,” a sales tax hike that would have funded a multi-billion dollar slush fund for transit boondoggles and taxpayer-funded development bootstrapping was supported by $10 million in relentless advertising. Tea Party groups spent all of $15,000 in paid opposition.
Result: 69-31, against. And that was in the Atlanta metro region.

Today on CBS This Morning show, has poll of Obama leading in swing states, story included interview of so-called Independent voter who voted for McCain in 2008 who indicates they’re unsure about Romney -OK to now vote for Obama.
When is it ever OK to vote stupid?
Shortly ago it was reported Obama outspent Romney four-to-one or more on negative ads and it didn’t do anything to sway voters.
Then they said Obama was shifting to conducting a positive campaign and a couple days its reported later he’s leading Romney.
Interesting and convenient, Obama self-fulfilling prophecy if you will.

I’d suggest you read the discussion that takes place in the comment section of the article, it’s much more informative than the actual article. The author essentially concedes that athletes likely wont pay much taxes on their medals and prizes, and tries to save themselves by arguing of the “outrage” that Michael Phelps would actually have to pay taxes on his millions in endorsements.
I wouldn’t worry too much about this. Olympic athletes have high deductible expenses in training, equipment, and travel. To the extent they are medal winners, they will get not only get cash prizes but also lucrative endorsement opportunities.
I’ve encountered this thinking before. Since the left has largely written the military community off as hopelessly conservative/fascist/babykiller (there are notable exceptions of course, ahem Jimmy Carter, John Kerry, Algore, etc.), they Alinsky this group by comparing the social contract of compensated national military service (including pensions) with the eternal welfare class. After all, don’t we always see those generals coming to Congress with their hands out?
So Roseanne accuses military families of living off tax dollars for the rest of their lives. This is probably how the left gets around the whole “working middle class family” problem. If the military is just a form of welfare, then they aren’t part of the hallowed working middle class family group struggling to get by.
I give the left half-credit in this. VA Hospitals are among the most notorious examples of government-run health care. But then, they’re treating babykillers so who cares?
The short of it: he saw a photo of Romney on her Facebook page. He thought his girlfriend was “planning to have an affair”. He broke her computer and punched her in the face. And it’s not the first time he does that to her. So yes, it is domestic violence. And probably the first documented case of Romney Derangement Syndrome as well.

Panic at RenCen. It’s not that people are leaving GM. It’s how they leave. Two weeks ago, Opel chief Karl-Friedrich Stracke presented numbers to Dan Akerson. Akerson fires him. Opel gets two interim chiefs in a week. Last Thursday, Opel’s new design chief Dave Lyon doesn’t even start his job. Today, media in the U.S. and Germany report that Lyon had been escorted from the building and to a waiting car by GM’s head of personnel. A day later, global marketing chief Joel Ewanick suddenly leaves. Instead of wishing him all the best for his future endeavors, GM spokesman Greg Martin puts a knife in Ewanick’s back: “He failed to meet the expectations the company has of an employee.”

Washington Times coins a new one: Obama and Co. are now also playing the dead card. Barack Obama and Harry Reid’s broken liberal souls.
I like this as well
Romney: Harry Reid needs to ‘put up or shut up’ on charges about taxes
For an explanation of what’s happened so far and an indication of what to expect, let’s stroll down memory lane back to 2003.
Back to when Howard Dean, then the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, insinuated that George Bush knew about 9/11 in advance.
This is who they are. This is what they do.
(The Dean incident started tickling my memory when I read about Harry Reid’s accusation that Mitt Romney paid no taxes for ten years. I repeat:
This is who they are. This is what they do.)
Rahm Emanuel’s insistence that Chick-fil-A bow to the icon of gay marriage had that effect, at least upon some. Chick-fil-A is not about gay marriage or Christianity at all, any more than the incident of William Tell was about a hat. It’s about power. I wouldn’t worry too much about this. Olympic athletes have high deductible expenses in training, equipment, and travel. To the extent they are medal winners, they will get not only get cash prizes but also lucrative endorsement opportunities.
In which we learn the left, via Roseanne “Behead Them” Barr, views paid and pensioned voluntary military service as a form of welfare.
