Sure. Lets fall into another trap. I admit I probably dont understand the motivations involved but I wonder about the optics given an obvious shift in public perceptions around gay marriage.
Im sorry but this reads like another trap like the birth control/abortion debate that was brought up by ObamaCare. Republicans because of poor messaging ended up looking like they were waging a war on women.

- We advise Israelis not to go with the skullcap on the street. Even in areas that are considered safe, says says Arthur Avnon, Israel’s ambassador to Denmark, to Jyllandsposten.
The ambassador also discourages wearing visible Stars of David. The reason for the advice is that Jews are increasingly subjected to harassment and vilification, the newspaper said.
Also the Jewish private school’s (Caroline School) principal Jan G. Hansen tells his students to think before they walk in “some areas” with a skullcap or Star of David.
Avnon says that several Danish Jews have moved to Israel to avoid persecution, and believes that the problem of Jewish harassment is related to the number of Muslims in Denmark.
- We see the same trend in many countries where there is a large Muslim population. Jews are leaving, and for the most part, they go to Israel, says Avnon in the interview.
Islamists want Sharia zones in Denmark
- Terroristic acts
The Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen was attacked on the 19th of November by about 20 people who threw large stones and sent fireworks into the embassy. Avnon called this a “terrorist act”.
- Maybe it was not their intention to kill, but it could happen, Avnon says.
The Jewish community in Denmark has documented 37 incidents of anti-Semitism in Denmark this year. This includes cases where a bank employee refused to convert Israeli currency, hacker attacks, and throwing stones at Jewish homes.

The Muslim communal organization, the Islamic Religious Community believes it’s an unfair accusation.
Nobody sane wants to believe that the Obamic Decline is intentional.

I’m not a conspiracy nut but since at one time I was connected to the intelligence community this stuff does make some sense. It’s about what really was and is going on in the Middle East, Benghazi etc…
Fascinating. As you say, this does seem to offer an overview, a picture filling in the missing pieces.
Why the US alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood? Strategic — as a counterweight to Hagmann’s axis of Iran/Syria/Russia/China? How’s that gonna work out?
Or other more implausible possibilities (e.g.administration affinities for Muslim jihad/ Black Liberation-based philosophies that would turn world order upside-down)?
Just would like to point out that there is another conservative (UT) law professor out there by the name of Lino Graglia who has continued to point out the negatives of affirmative action.

One might ask how could Roberts possibly take up a challenge that argues that the bill is unconstitutional BECAUSE it is a tax??!!
His sophistry exposed.
WSJ’s James Taranto wrote about the PLF challenge last week, providing reasoning as to why it probably won’t be heard. PLF’s elegant and wise defense of its position here (including links to other ongoing Obamacare challenges):
“Inflation is the cruelest tax” — variously attributed to both Ronald Reagan and Milton Friedman (both of them probably said it at one time or another)
“Inflation is the one form of taxation that can be imposed without legislation.” — Milton Friedman
“Inflation is as violent as a mugger, as frightening as an armed robber and as deadly as a hit man.” — Ronald Reagan
“By a continuing process of inflation, government can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens.” — John Maynard Keynes (yes, even Keynes understood)
From an email “Cheat Sheet” from the Beastly Day I get…
“Are you sitting down? Pasta is in danger of becoming extinct, writes Mark Hertsgaard in Newsweek. Wheat, which grows best in cooler seasons, has already become a victim of global warming and stands to suffer further as temperatures rise. Unless more of America acknowledges the reality of climate change, the noodle may one day go the way of the dinosaur—but not before faltering harvests lead to shockingly high prices for one of the world’s most popular staple foods.”
Do any LI readers believe that today’s proposal by Randi Weingarten — the head of the American Federation of Teachers — to have teacher certification done by exam will improve the quality of US education?
“We propose that all prospective teachers in the United States take a rigorous bar exam that gauges mastery of subject-matter knowledge and demonstrates competency in how to teach it.”
Can you imagine the kind of subject matter and teaching competency that would be required by the AFT?
As we know, much libertarian / Austrian economic theory has been devoted to the destructive role of unions in reducing entry to fields of employment while reducing quality of production.
We also are aware of the tragic results of the AFT’s efforts in education.
So on a different topic I introduce you to the undergraduate background of Randi Weingarten, leader of the AFT: a graduate of one of NY State public colleges at Cornell (as was Sandra Fluke) — the College of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR). This college has classes like ILRIC 4313 “Labor and Social Movement Approaches to Climate Change and Sustainable Development.”
Other classes with less obvious tells — e.g. ILRIC 6344 “International Labor Law” — still promise to take up “… the thematic treatment of migrant workers, women workers and child labor.”
I am sure the course descriptions are mild compared to the actual content.

So my point is quite simple. Quit bitching and start doing.
Sean Penn and Oliver Stone are going to do what they are going to do. Conservatives and libertarians have to do the same thing — but better.
Sorry about the better, but that’s just the facts right now. Bias exists and you’re going to have to overcome it. The best way to achieve that is by aesthetic excellence. And the only way to achieve that excellence, assuming you have the basic talent, unfortunately is hard work. It all comes down to the old tourist query joke about “How do you get to Carnegie Hall.” (“Practice, practice, practice,” for the twelve people who don’t know it).
Whoever said it was going to be easy? And making it more difficult is that conservatives tend to be out of practice where cultural endeavors are concerned (except perhaps in country music, which is important). When you disdain or ignore something, the skills wither.
I’m talking in generalities, of course. Plenty of great conservative artists exist. But the number needs to be extended considerably in order even to come close to parity and level the artistic playing field to some small degree. Cultural institutions (movie studios, theatres, philanthropies etc.) must be built as well because you can do terrific things but, without the means of distributing them, they are the proverbial trees growing unseen in the wilderness.
All anyone, and specifically the MEDIA is talking about is the Middle East and the FISCAL CLIFF…Would it kill someone to point to Europe and say, “Hey, maybe we shouldn’t do that.”? It’s a massive billboard for why we shouldn’t be pursuing any of Obama’s policies.

We had to earn his respect through direct, hard confrontation before we could get his attention for practical negotiations.

Excerpt: “At any point they wanted to, the President and the Congress could reduce the ‘cliff’ to a series of foothills by breaking the problem into ten or twenty component parts. They could then focus on solving each problem on its own merits and out in the open with public hearings, public understanding and public involvement. Public understanding, however, would limit the level of waste, favoritism, and special interests which could be funded. That is exactly the opposite of what the Washington establishment wants.”
Excerpt: “In the past decade, conservatives have also lost a lot of brand recognition. The GOP and ‘conservatives’ are used interchangeably. People now read National Review to find out what Republican leaders are doing instead of conservatives. People check the American Conservative Union scorecard to see how Republican a person is, not how conservative they are. Too many conservative organizations are draining donors dry with no real results to speak of. A heck of a lot of conservative organizations will disappear overnight when their geriatric leaders die because they’ve become too wrapped up in the identity of their leader, not in the cause they have long claimed to serve.
Some of these groups are stifling the regeneration of the conservative movement through hoarding donors, co-opting the projects of younger groups only to fail at execution, and otherwise just taking up space as a conservative group when often it’s just an excuse for another cocktail party to give out more awards where the GOP establishment will come and kiss rear ends in the Beltway nonaggression club of uselessness on the right.”
New York State Senate Democrats are furious today over an unprecedented agreement reached by Republicans and conservative-leaning Democrats who disbanded from their party to form their own caucus.
Should we now sell designer babies on Craig’s List to anyone who wants them? From any country? (Just hire a “surrogate”.) Reid Blocks Vote on Amendment to Protect Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK) released the following statement today regarding his amendments to the Sportsmen’s bill (S. 3525), specifically an amendment to protect veterans’ gun rights, which were blocked by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).
“I’m disappointed Senator Reid once again refused to allow Senators to offer amendments. One amendment I filed – the Veterans’ Second Amendment Protection Act – would have prevented our nation’s veterans from being denied due process before having a fundamental Constitutional right taken away when they attempt to purchase a firearm. Specifically, my amendment would have required all veterans who are considered mentally incompetent for purposes of assigning benefit payments, not be considered ‘adjudicated as a mental defective’, and thus losing their Second Amendment rights, unless they have been found by a judicial authority to be a danger to themselves or to others. Instead of working with his colleagues to correct this overly-broad and unjust regulation, Reid has blocked a vote on this common sense solution. The American people, and our veterans who have risked their lives for this country, deserve better,” Dr. Coburn said.
I find this fascinating. If judged financially incompetent, Veterans are placed on the criminal background check list? ( Article at http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/12/03/veterans-gun-rights-sticking-point-in-defense-bill/ )
I would think that all financially incompetent people should take note that they are about to become 2nd class Citizens… funny. That would be 85% of our law-makers and 47% of the rest?
And this concept as a rider on Defense Bill?
Gee.
A Republican from Ohio managed to get this poem inserted into the Congressional record after Truman gave a speech in 1949 comparing the current “reactionaries” who oppose expansion of the welfare state to “reactionaries” who opposed the Louisiana Purchase:

I remember what I call the Patented Ed Asner response to the question, “Are you a Communist?”.
“What’s a Communist” (chuckle), Asner said in his most grandfatherly manner.
Well, you are, Ed. You are a Communist/Collectivist liar.

New York State Senate Democrats are furious today over an unprecedented agreement reached by Republicans and conservative-leaning Democrats who disbanded from their party to form their own caucus.

Hmm… That bears some looking into.
Anne, this would seem a subject for your talents…
That was an interesting read, thanks.
Judge recused in the Fort Hood case.
Should we now sell designer babies on Craig’s List to anyone who wants them? From any country? (Just hire a “surrogate”.) What’s next — women in third-world countries warehoused to give birth to future slaves or jihadist armies? Should not all of this stuff be outlawed? Keeping current with the Zimmerman case, the latest incisive article from Conservative Treehouse, “The Fabrication of Evidence Is A Crime.”

Please, Sam! “Incisive” is the last thing I’d call “sundance”. He’s a kook. A crank. Read Zimmerman’s defense site for anything real.
You could be right, counselor.
Tell me, do you think that “sundance’s” arguments are valid or not?
What I’ve seen and researched is typical of conspiracy theory. You have a logic chain…often with several bad links…leading to lurid conclusions.
Watch the conduct of the case in the real world, not “sundance’s” bizzaro world.
Personally, from what I’ve read thus far, it seems to me that lawyer Crump et al have been, and are now, engaged in practicing an artful deception respective to witness 8, “Dee Dee.”
Obviously, we’ll just have to disagree about that matter for the time being. The truth will eventually come out.

Reid Blocks Vote on Amendment to Protect Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights
“Ode To the Welfare State”

One of the commenters at the blog dug up Truman’s speech (scroll down to where it says “ADDRESS” to bypass all the BS and get to the actual speech):

Now, I think I could support that.
