Pretty good summary of the problems with Mitt, though he completely omits the elephant in the room: there’s no way the Republican Party should be running Mr RomneyCare in an election where one of the top issues will be Obamacare. How can we possibly mount the assualt on Obamacare necessary to repeal it when our candidate signed its precursor into law and still stands by it?
“….We await the ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court whether Congress can interfere in the President’s foreign policy and require the Government to allow Jerusalem to be labeled “Israel” on passports and consular birth records for those born in Israel’s capital. This is a landmark U.S. Constitutional law case, and the outcome will have a far-reaching impact on future diplomacy and legislation.
However, the case ignores a simple fact: The U.S. is obligated to recognize all Jerusalem as part of the State of Israel. This has been reaffirmed around a half-dozen times….”

PA negotiator: We may withdraw recognition of Israel

Palestinians may cancel agreements signed between the PLO and Israel; Abbas paving way for Hamas and Islamic Jihad to take control over entire W. Bank, says Fatah official after Islamist groups agree to join PLO.
Talkbacks (1)
Mohammed Shtayyeh, member of the Fatah Central Committee and one of the Palestinian Authority negotiators with Israel, was quoted Sunday as saying that thePalestinians may cancel the agreements signed between the PLO and Israel.
Meanwhile, some PLO and Fatah leaders have privately criticized Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for agreeing to incorporateHamas into the PLO.
“WASHINGTON (AP) — Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich’s campaign attacked Virginia’s GOP primary election system on Saturday for keeping him off the state’s March 6 Super Tuesday ballot, a significant setback for a candidate who has surged in popularity but has struggled to organize his campaign.”
Trivial observations about today’s featured video (I guess I didn’t do my homework very well).
Today’s featured song, The In Crowd, has also been recorded by two of the other recently featured artists: Petula Clark, and the Mamas & Papas (be sure to check out the groovy M&P video collage).
A more famous version of the song was recorded by Ramsey Lewis later in 1965 and updated in 2004

Some passersby are not pleased with a Baraboo motel co-owner’s quip about the ongoing attempt to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
The quip – highly political at best, borderline obscene at worst – is on display on the marquee in front of the motel on county Highway BD north of Baraboo.
The message, spelled out in plastic block lettering on the motel’s roadside marquee: “RECALL THE KOCH SUCKER NOW!”
How many Ron Paul supporters will scream for “evidence” and “sources” when word gets out that Dr. Paul received BIG bucks for his Newsletters? How many of those simply took at face value all the dubious allegations (and allegators) against Herman Cain?

Cornell University and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, will partner to build an applied sciences campus in New York City that officials hope will transform the city into a center for entrepreneurship and technology innovation to rival California’s Silicon Valley, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Monday.
…
Cornell and the science and technology institute in Israel, will spend more than $2 billion to build 2.1 million square feet (0.2 million sq. meters) of facility space on Roosevelt Island, a 2-mile- (3.2-kilometer-) long stretch of land just east of Manhattan. Up to 2,500 students at a time are expected to enroll in masters and doctoral programs with a focus in areas including engineering and computer science.
Alan Grayson has changed his goal. Everytime I see one of his ads I click through to see his progress and in hopes of seeing that he has renounced his citizenship or some other type of good news.
This evening his goal changed to raising $500,000 this quarter (he’s within $6,000 of that). Last night the goal was $1,000,000 for the year, with roughly $36,000 to go.

What They Are Saying About Me
"Someone with credibility is saying these things and trying to do something. Thank you."
"'Obtuse' is just about the nicest thing I could say about Jacobson. The problem with being too steeped in any profession is that you run the risk of no longer understanding the difference between reality and your profession's most obscure minutiae."
"I just wanted to thank you for writing such a great article on your reasons why you voted for John McCain. I wish everyone would have read that article."
"Jacobson is doing only what other McCain supporters are starting to do, produce these worthless pieces from some narrow perch in order to cover up their own racist bigotry"
"Cornell and the country need more educators like yourself to keep the flag of reason flying."
“I take it Jacobson teaches at the cow college part of Cornell, and not the elite section where Coulter attended.”
"Thank you for speaking out... and I hope you avoid repercussions in 'The People's Republic of Ithaca.'"

1) a seasonal lullaby (secular, but lots of wonderful toy train memories):
Old Toy Trains
2) pondering the “tax cut” fiasco in DC, from the 1985 Tony award winning Broadway musical Big River:
[dad gum] Guv’ment – (Language Warning!)
(lyrics are here — hint: the line earning the warning is the rhyme for this line: “You got your damn hands in every pocket of my britches”)
