The Boston Globe reported today that Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren raised $12.1 million for her campaign in the 3rd quarter ending September 30, 2012. That brings the total raised to $36 million. Yet more than 40% of these funds–an estimated $16 million–have come online via two websites that do not have industry-standard protections and are vulnerable to fraud and illegal foreign national donations. Warren made her reputation as an anti-fraud advocate for consumers.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. Is Hanging Out at Bars While Under ‘Doctor’s Care’
“When Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. emerged from last summer’s disappearance—he had, his family said, been seeking treatment for bipolar disorder at the Mayo Clinic—his chief of staff told reporters that he was “convalescing with his wife and children at home in Washington.” But last week, he was seen convalescing in a D.C. bar with two different women on two consecutive nights.
According to two independent sources, Jackson was spotted drinking at Bier Baron Tavern, a craft beer bar not far from Dupont Circle, on Tuesday and Wednesday nights last week. Each night, he was accompanied by a different woman. According to both sources, Jackson was drinking. “They were laughing and very focused on each other,” one source said of Jackson’s demeanor on Wednesday night. “Not sure when they left but I saw them there around 10:30 p.m. They didn’t appear intoxicated or loud, but were definitely enjoying themselves.”
The Wall Street Journal reported today that federal prosecutors are “in the final stages of a criminal probe” into claims that Jackson illegally used campaign funds to redecorate his $1.3 million home in Washington. That’s on top of a separate federal inquiry into Jackson’s role in former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s attempt to sell Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat. So the guy probably needed a drink last week. (And it wouldn’t, according to Chicago Magazine, be even remotely the first time he spent quality time with a woman other than his wife, Chicago alderman Sandi Jackson.)
When Jackson first disappeared last summer, many political observers in Chicago speculated that he was being treated for a substance abuse problem of some sort. But his family has insisted that his treatment was limited to a bipolar disease. According to his spokesman Frank Watkins, Jackson is still “under a doctor’s care for bipolar disorder” and hasn’t returned to work yet.
Asked why Jackson was well enough to go out drinking two nights in a row but not to return to his work in the House of Representatives—which was in session last week—Watkins said, “You’re asking me to comment on something I don’t have any information about.”
And yet the White House — which as recently as Oct. 8 was still insisting that a resurgent al Qaeda is “on its heels” — has chosen to stick to another exonerative fairy story: that it was unaware that Ambassador Chris Stevens had begged for more security at the beleaguered Benghazi compound.
The reasons for this denial may be best known to campaign guru David Axelrod. After all, the administration’s only indisputable foreign-policy triumph — the killing of Osama bin Laden — would be in serious jeopardy were Obama and Biden to publicly admit that the Libyan attacks were in part retaliation for bin Laden’s death and the ongoing US drone strikes in Yemen and elsewhere.
But it’s simply untrue that the government was unaware of the deteriorating security conditions in Benghazi. In last week’s congressional hearing, security officials testified that Washington repeatedly turned a deaf ear to their urgent requests for beefed-up forces at the Benghazi compound and CIA “safe house.”
The miners said Obama’s campaign team is running ads filled with “blatantly false” statements about the miners regarding their participation in Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s August campaign stop at the Century Mine. These ads assert that the miners were forced to attend the event by the mine’s owner, Robert Murray.
“There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, mostly started by a local ‘shock jock’ radio host,” the miners’ letter to Obama states. “Why would you (Obama) lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of the Century Mine would request you immediately stop these false ads.”
Peterffy’s statement is so to the point that it’s too brief. Hopefully, it will be played and heard frequently. For me, it gets ever the more poignant with each additional viewing.

For you to buy the regime’s excuse that “State did it”, here’s what you’d have to believe…
1. that State did not know within hours…if not immediately (which we know is not the case)
2. that for days as the President and other members of the State Dept…including and especially Rice…Clinton or an underling did nothing to correct the misstatements
3. that Clinton and Obama would stand together before the coffins of the dead Americans stating the same crap about the video, with Obama still in the dark and Clinton still letting him twist.
Did you see where Buzz Bissinger at the Daily Beast is writing regarding his endorsement of Romney and the response of his liberal friends? Pretty interesting to watch a liberal writer feel the brunt of the liberal hatred!
Your post and the others that precede it are so accurate. One regret I’ll have, among others, is never having been able to tell Biden face-to-face what a horse’s backside I think he is and even worse as a public official of our country.
You and the others, I’ll do what I can, need to keep up the pressure to kick’em out of office come Nov 6th.
The chickens are coming home to roost. Elizabeth Warren’s real tribe – women earning over $100,000 a year – has seen her for what she is and abandoned her.
“Does Elizabeth Warren Have a Wealthy Woman Problem?”
“One of the topline findings was that Warren holds a 9 point advantage among women — 51 percent of women plan on voting for Warren compared to just 42% who plan on voting for Brown. But how large is that advantage compared to other recent elections in Massachusetts? As noted above, in 2010, a UMass exit poll found that Democratic Governor Deval Patrick won the support of 57 percent of women, and just 34 percent of women voted for his Republican Challenger. Given that context, Warren’s advantage among women seems remarkably small.
When we drilled down into the data a bit more, what we found is that the preferences of women in this race vary widely depending on their income. The chart below demonstrates this pattern by plotting Warren’s advantage/disadvantage over Brown for men and women in low (under $40,000), middle ($40,000 to $100,000), and upper ($100,000 and above) income groups.
Warren holds an impressive 32 point advantage over Brown among low income women and an 11 point advantage among middle-income women. However, Warren is losing upper income women by 19 points, a larger margin than her deficit among upper income men.
Is Warren’s performance among upper income women unique to her candidacy? There appears to be some evidence that it is….Ultimately, nearly one-in-four women with a family income above $100,000 plans on voting for Obama but not for Warren.”
Ha! Do you think maybe it could be that people earning that kind of income are perfectly well aware of just how much Warren helped herself by checking the box and pretending to be a minority applicant?
Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Basil L. Plumley, who fought in some of the U.S. Army’s bloodiest battles in three wars, died Wednesday in Columbus, Georgia. He was 92.
Plumley saw action in some of the largest battles of World War II, including the Battle of Normandy, the Battle of Salerno in Italy and Operation Market Garden.
He then fought in the Korean War, but it was his role in the Battle of Ia Drang Valley in Vietnam that brought him the most fame. The battle was chronicled in the book “We Were Soldiers Once … and Young,” which was later a 2002 movie starring Mel Gibson. Sam Elliott played Plumley.
Honor to the Soldier, and Sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his countrys cause. Honor also to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field, and serves, as he best can, the same cause honor to him, only less than to him, who braves, for the common good, the storms of heaven and the storms of battle.
Thought you might enjoy this, I have a VERY low-traffic satire site. I have a post on the Elizabeth Warren law license issue, and because the media is completely ignoring this issue it comes up second on Google for “elizabeth warren and passing law exam” and on the first page for other searches that really ought to bring up real news. There are no links to this page other than from my own site, no one’s talking about it, but because of the media blackout it still ranks highly.
At Michelle Malkin’s blog, her lead for this story is “DWS: Just because the administration put out stories about Benghazi that proved to be wrong doesn’t mean they were false at the time they were told”.
Article: Al Gore has thrived as green-tech investor
“Just before leaving public office in 2001, Gore reported assets of less than $2 million; today, his wealth is estimated at $100 million.
Gore charted this path by returning to his longtime passion — clean energy. He benefited from a powerful resume and a constellation of friends in the investment world and in Washington. And four years ago, his portfolio aligned smoothly with the agenda of an incoming administration and its plan to spend billions in stimulus funds on alternative energy…”
Bloomberg headline: Jobless Claims in U.S. Fall to Four-Year Low as Quarter Starts. This number is below the lowest estimate of surveyed economists.
Applications for jobless benefits dropped 30,000 to 339,000 in the week ended Oct. 6, the fewest since February 2008, Labor Department figures showed today. Economists forecast 370,000 claims, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey. One state accounted for most of the plunge in claims, a Labor Department spokesman said as the data were issued to the press…(p) Estimates for first-time claims ranged from 355,000 to 377,000 in the Bloomberg survey of 49 economists.
That’s helpful to Biden on the day of the debate.
More from Bloomberg:
Unadjusted claims typically surge at the start of a quarter as people receiving benefits reapply in order for the government to recertify their applications, the Labor Department spokesman said. The year’s increase was smaller than projected, because one large state showed a drop rather than an increase, the spokesman said. The breakdown by state will show up in next week’s report.
That’s puzzling because the press release contains breakdowns by state. Presumably the ambiguity will soon be cleared up as the data is scrutinized.
I’m happy for people who kept their jobs, but the face value of this report is not good news for the Romney campaign. Not surprisingly, MSNBC is upbeat.
I’m waiting for the data to be assessed critically and for the market’s reaction (up a half percent so far). Obama is up over 1% on Intrade since the report was released.
Afterthought: I recently saw a post claiming that the 1992 unemployment picture started to brighten as the election approached, but it happened too late to help Bush. (Unfortunately I did not bookmark the link.) Otoh, the role of today’s MSM is very different from what it was in 1992.
Afaic today’s jobless report marginally helps Obama—it does the opposite if manipulation of the data is proved—but the election remains close.
ouple of things struck me with the report and I mentioned it at the thread at Zeroedge
1. In actual terms..not seasonally adjusted there were 26,000 more first time applications for unemployment.
UNADJUSTED DATA
The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 327,063 in the week ending October 6, an increase of 25,990 from the previous week.
I dont mind seasonal adjustments except when the direction becomes opposite of reality. The applied adjustment was deceptively low causing an actual “worse week” to seem the opposite.
2. Where is the impact of 40,000 teachers collecting for a couple of weeks? Is that the “missing State”?
From Carolina Plott Hound (a Drudge-like NC conservative aggregator), Charlotte NC city officials put out a map showing electrical use rates neighborhood by neighborhood to “encourage” residents to conserve, coinciding with the city’s Environmental Sustainability Week. As the Plott Hound editor says with headline: ‘Big Brother’s Electricity Rectal Exam – Encourage for now, coerce later’
Charlotte Observer (waaay lib) account:
“The city hopes the map will encourage residents to think about how they can cut their energy use, community energy coordinator Nicole Storey said, such as by turning off lights, dialing down thermostat settings or installing insulation. The city has created energy-efficiency programs in 18 Charlotte neighborhoods.”
NC = Swing state, 15 EVs, won by Obama by 14k votes ’08. State Congress went full GOP in 2010. GOP gov candidate +14. Plott Hound has daily link to RCP poll average for the race, plus tables of all the major polls for the race:
This Althouse post is linked in the Blogs I Read section, but it’s worth reemphasizing, together with her prior post that Althouse links.
Her point is that Obama did not do badly in the debate but Romney did well. Obama’s “poor performance” is damage control spun by the jounolisting Left as a way of taking the spotlight off of Romney’s fitness for the Presidency.
Did conservatives fall for it? Romney was not the conservative choice during the primaries, and we are more enthused about bashing Obama than we are about supporting Mitt. As we deride Obama, are we failing to take full advantage of Romney’s victory? Have we been cleverly manipulated?

Professor, troubling emails I got today from Obama campaign:
Listen up Raquel.
This week, we need to make some of the last, tough choices about what the final push of this grassroots organization will look like — where we can compete and how fiercely.
It’s a close race, and you hold the power here. According to our records associated with this exact email address:
— Your supporter ID is: 1014906399
— Most recent donation: $0
— Total amount donated in 2012: $0
It looks like you haven’t given yet. That may be because you gave using a different email address than you’re using now — if we’ve got this wrong, I apologize.
But if you have not yet given, there’s still time. Just not very much — this Friday is one of our last opportunities to plan for the final weeks of this campaign.
Give $5 or more today ahead of this Friday’s big budget deadline? That’s just 19 cents for each day we have left.
We’re looking at what we have in the bank by Friday at midnight in order to determine how many more offices we can open, how many new field organizers we can hire, and how fiercely we can compete in critical battleground states.
As we face these difficult decisions, the President needs your support if we’re going win.
Chip in $5 or more now, before the big budget deadline:
If you want to wake up on November 7th to four more years of President Obama, and not the alternative, then chip in $5 or more today — that’s just $1.25 for each week we have left.
The bottom line is that we’re running out of time to get our organization where it needs to be for the final push — and make-or-break budget decisions are coming up at the end of this week. And, according to our records associated with this email address, you haven’t donated to this campaign yet, so, if you’ve been waiting for the right moment, that time is now.
We have a rapidly shrinking window to hire those last few organizers, open those last few offices in states like Florida and Colorado, and recruit the volunteers who will determine how many voters we reach in those all-important final days before November 6th.
So … yeah. This is URGENT. It’s time for you to STEP UP.
You’ve waited until the last month to own a piece of this campaign. DON’T WAIT ANY LONGER — your donation is needed right now:
“WYNN: I’ve created about 250,000 direct and indirect jobs according to the state of Nevada’s measurement. If the number is 250,000, that’s exactly 250,000 more than this president, who I’ll be damned if I want to have him lecture me about small business and jobs. I’m a job creator. Guys like me are job creators and we don’t like having a bulls-eye painted on our back.
The president is trying to put himself between me and my employees. By class warfare, by deprecating and calling a group that makes money ‘billionaires and millionaires who don’t pay their share.’ I gave 120% of my salary and bonus away last year to charities, as I do most years. I can’t stand the idea of being demagogued, that is put down by a president who has never created any jobs and who doesn’t even understand how the economy works.”
Democratic volunteers in southwest Ohio on Tuesday were shocked to find the entrance to their headquarters blocked by a massive pile of horse manure, according to a local report.
Warren County Democratic chair Beth Goldenfield told WKRC Cincinnati that her staff was sickened by the prank, which they think occurred sometime after 10 p.m. on Monday.
Goldenfield suspected a few local GOP elephants were behind the nasty dung attack.

Really, we’ve suspected for a long time…
Your post and the others that precede it are so accurate. One regret I’ll have, among others, is never having been able to tell Biden face-to-face what a horse’s backside I think he is and even worse as a public official of our country.
You and the others, I’ll do what I can, need to keep up the pressure to kick’em out of office come Nov 6th.

This will doubtless continue until the company runs out of cash.
It is ridiculous to sell a product at loss and compensate for it with volume!
The chickens are coming home to roost. Elizabeth Warren’s real tribe – women earning over $100,000 a year – has seen her for what she is and abandoned her.
“Does Elizabeth Warren Have a Wealthy Woman Problem?”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brian-schaffner/elizabeth-warren-polling_b_1954720.html#

We have always been blessed with the quality of our service people.

When I said “enjoy” I meant in a sardonic manner.

That’s helpful to Biden on the day of the debate.
More from Bloomberg:

Andy Sullivan really deserves a life-time award of some kind.
Those emails border on extortion. WE KNOW YOU HAVEN’T DONATED YET and WE KNOW where you live….DONATE now or else…..
Chip in $5 or more now, before the big budget deadline:
https://donate.barackobama.com/Decisions
And the other email a few hours ago:
Raquel,
If you want to wake up on November 7th to four more years of President Obama, and not the alternative, then chip in $5 or more today — that’s just $1.25 for each week we have left.

Thanks. You’re great.

Talk about desperation, and bare knuckle tactics. WTF

Giant manure pile dumped at local Democratic headquarters in Ohio
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/manure-dumped-dems-headquarters-article-1.1179172
