Fresh off seeing Alan Grayson ads all over conservative blogs (including LI), I’m now seeing an independent expenditure campaign against Scott Brown that highlights his conservative votes.

Ironically, it might even be helpful to Brown for such ads to appear on sometimes-skeptical conservative sites to highlight his conservative votes and emphasize how...

There is a belief on the right that John McCain lost because he was too liberal and conservatives chose to stay home on election day. Some who hold this belief threaten to go Scozzafava on the GOP and refuse to work to stop Obama if Romney (or in fewer cases, even...

If the authoritarian anarchists (which, weird as it may be, is what they are) insist on using the language of occupation, so be it.

That means the rest of us can use the parallel language of liberation.  When the police clear out occupations, we should refer to the event as the liberation...

A recent post by Megan McArdle made some good points about how disturbing OWS’s views and behavior have become:

…this weekend, at the Americans for Prosperity dinner…Occupy DC decided that it would be a good idea to blockade the attendees into the DC convention center…

What’s more disturbing, however, is that my reading,...

The Right Must Not Use The Race Card As Recklessly As The Left

As Professor Jacobson wrote on Saturday,  the Herman Cain SuperPAC is running this race-card-playing ad.

Other GOP commentators, especially Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh, have also been making statements along these lines.  This is wrong, especially coming from solid conservative voices.

To play the race card in this fashion, with such insufficient evidence...

Newt and Cain Debate at 8, and there are both many ways this could have happened and many ways this debate could go.  Below, I outline a number of possibilities.  Not that many people will watch this, but many opinion leaders will, and soundbites will certainly make the news, be passed...

#OWS’s policy of having  no set views has its advantages. They can include all manner of extremists and unsavory characters while preserving plausible deniability when taken to task for their relationship with such socially-unacceptable figures.

Daniel Sieradski, #OWS’s main Jewish organizer, last seen thinking up new ways to appropri...

The conservative movement in America may have been had. #OWS is easy to attack, but the right’s demonization of #OWS, even if successful, may be playing into Obama’s hands by failing to address the real reason why the Democrats and their special interest allies have cultivated this movement.

The Boston Globe and the AP report that 37% of Americans support OWS:

There are two major organizations in the Jewish community tasked with certifying people, things, and movements as anti-Semitic or not: The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Simon Wiesenthal Center/Museum(s) of Tolerance.  Sometimes, they differ, owing largely to the fact that the ADL’s leaders vote Democrat while the Wiesenthal Center’s leaders, primarily...

Happy Columbus Day!

Where many of these protesters come from, this sort of talk is sticking it to The Man. Their sort of talk is conformity.

Meanwhile, I recommend Walter Russell Mead’s article explaining Columbus Day’s origin as a holiday celebrating the contributions of immigrants and Catholics to American society.
