The “Squad” Claims Increase in Threats, Capitol Police Disagree

“The threat assessment regarding members of the squad, who have recently clashed with President Trump, remains low compared to some other lawmakers”

The “squad”—consisting of Democrat Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Ilhan Omar (MN), Ayanna Pressley (MA), and Rashida Tlaib (MI)—has been vocal in pressing their socialist/communist anti-Semitic agenda.

When they are challenged on ideology and/or policy, they toss out the race card as their go-to shutuppery weapon.  They’re indiscriminate in this victimhood whining and recently felt backlash from their own party after gobbling a hubris pill and trying that clumsy move on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

The leftstream media has been reporting on the Squad’s insistence on greater security because they claim they’re being targeted more often and receive more threats because Trump.  While there has been an increase in threats against Congress members, this includes both Republicans and Democrats.

Even in their articles with headlines like “Threats against members increasing, Capitol Police chief says,” the leftstream media buries the lede: “Sund noted that a much lower percentage of threat cases investigated meet the threshold of being a credible threat, but he did not provide an exact percentage breakdown.”

As it turns out, Capitol Police “confirmed to Fox News that there has not been an increase in threats [against the Squad]. In fact, officials imply that the freshmen are not targeted as much as they claim to be, especially compared to others on Capitol Hill. The police worry if they respond to all the ‘noise’ around them right now, they may miss more legitimate and serious threats to others.”

Fox News reports:

Congressional security officials have met with all four members of the “squad,” comprising Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., over concerns about their safety as lawmakers.

Fox News has learned that threats have not increased for them this week.

. . . . The threat assessment regarding members of the squad, who have recently clashed with President Trump, remains low compared to some other lawmakers.

One source told Fox News that even though the four had been in the news a great deal, they were still low-profile, freshman members.

Some lawmakers’ significant others are more worried about safety than the lawmakers themselves.

There is concern in the security ranks that if the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) responds to the “noise” surrounding the squad, it may actually miss more bona fide threats against other lawmakers.

Patience with the Squad is wearing thin on both the left and the right.  They don’t seem to understand that they are wearing out their welcome in record time.

Yup. Standby for the fake hate crimes and subsequent faux outrage that are sure to follow now that their complaints of a spike in “death threats” against them have been outed as lies.

Anti-Muslim graffiti, nooses on doorknobs, ding-dong ditch’em, burning paper lunch bags of dog poo on the front porch…. it’ll be bedlam for sure.

It will become a competition. AOC will need her script writer/handler to keep up.

Substance does not matter to them or their handlers. They are victims because it pushes the narrative.

    By any means necessary.
    The ends justify the means.

Ain’t that just too bad!

A0C= Lady Skid Marks

I presume in good faith that the Speaker of the House has arranged adequate security for all of them.

Just to say this out loud, I look forward to rapidly getting back to discussing the policies presented and championed by these four women. Since they have every right to speak, the important thing is what they have to say.

Arminius in reply to JBourque. | July 20, 2019 at 11:21 pm

Dispassionately discussing policy is well and good.

I on the other hand just went through the wierdest break up in human history. At least in my history.

This is as close to telling tales out of school I’ll ever come.

In most respects I have no idea as to what just happened. I do know it stemmed from yesterday. When as neared three in the afternoon and she was still sleeping I yelled upstairs, “Hey, are you alive?”

She had spent the day previous helping me clean my house. No small feat as I need a double hip replacement and have to use a walker. I wanted to make her coffee and maybe even pancakes. I jokingly told her, in jest, I wouldn’t know what to tell the cops if I couldn’t confirm she was alive.

I think maybe this was my first mistake. I gave her her space. I thought I was being respectful. So she has her own apartment, basically. Her bedroom and bathroom upstairs, where I don’t go. I’m thinking that maybe she saw this as a subtle form of rejection. Dunno.

She explodes this morning. Keeps exploding into the afternoon. I didn’t get all of it, bur somehow the jest about me not knowing what to tell the cops if she doesn’t turn up alive turns into I was threatening to call the cops on her. And when I asked if she was still alive, that got turned into me wishing her dead.

    She seemed so normal.

Perhaps one of the ladies who comments here can explain how wrong I am and how right she is.

A man cuts a tree down in a forest. No woman is around to hear him. Is he still wrong?

What a stupid question, of course he’s wrong.

Maybe I’m not supposed to get it. Anyway, she’s gone and she says she’s not coming back. And honestly I don’t know that I should feel bad about that.

      oldgoat36 in reply to Arminius. | July 21, 2019 at 6:18 am

This is a simple one, just acknowledge that you are a man, therefore you are wrong.
There is no winning an argument with a woman when she has decided you are wrong. Logic need not apply. 😉
Seriously, don’t discount the heat, the work she did, and women, while they can be wonderful beyond measure, will take your words and misconstrue them to fit what they have put together in their minds. This is what the feminized men in the Media do all the time to everything a Republican man says or does.

Both genders, or all 278 of the new ones the left has now endorsed, are guilty of selective hearing, and can lash out in unexpected ways.

“This is a simple one, just acknowledge that you are a man, therefore you are wrong.”

Done and done. I used to be married, so I’m familiar with being wrong.

Now there was another adventure. And, again, this is as close to telling tales out of school that I ever get. 11 September 2011. I get a phone call from my reserve unit CO. I phone muster. In November I deploy.

It’s like now, all of a sudden, she’s learning I’m in the Navy. And I have legal commitments. But they’re not actually legal commitments that will land me in the naval brig at Miramar (I looked it up while she was yelling at me; that’s where you go when sentenced to a period of confinement of less than ten years, otherwise Leavenworth). Lots of good I’m going to do her from the brig, stripped of all pay and reduced in rank to E-1.

The only reason I met her was because I was stationed in Japan, courtesy of the USN. And yet, there I was, facing a wild cat who didn’t seem to want to realize I’d be facing a possible prison sentence if I didn’t show up at the time and place appointed in my orders.

The h2ll of it all is, after everything, I like women. I think that’s one of the things that p***ed off my girlfriend from yesterday. I couldn’t hate her. It seems to me she wanted me to hate her, as if that would represent passion. I definitely don’t hate my ex-wife. I still love her, and like her.

Dating advice costs extra, but no one, male or female, picks a relationship-ending fight without knowing that’s the end goal. You could have said anything or nothing, it didn’t matter. It was over. She knew it, and she was just looking for a way to let you know it.

No reflection on you, of course, that’s just how things go. People decide they are done and then pick a fight to move on. My advice to you: move on, too. /the end of “Dear Fuzzy”

I can do almost anything as long as it doesn’t involve reaching to the ground.

Arminius in reply to JBourque. | July 21, 2019 at 12:03 am

Keep in mind you are only getting my version of events. I went elephant hunting back in 2009. We had known each other for years before travelling to the wilds of Africa. No matter how good or badly you feel about elephant hunting, I would think you just don’t just walk away from that kind of relationship. Not without talking first.

    “Elephant walk”

I really am, swear to God, approachable.

All I can offer is my sympathy. Some people are, or end up as, beyond our reach in spite of our best efforts and intentions.

Arminius in reply to JBourque. | July 21, 2019 at 10:34 am

No sympathy needed. Did I mention back in 2009 we went elephant hunting in Zimbabwe? Here’s a woman I can trust with a .416 Rigby or a .375 H & H.

This remains true. I wish her all the best.

      oldgoat36 in reply to Arminius. | July 21, 2019 at 6:22 am

Sometimes the insanity that comes out is just the excuse for things that are felt but not defined within the limits of conversation. Sometimes it is a matter of chemistry, and that can go toxic in a heartbeat. Ask any married person, or anyone in a long term relationship. I know many couples who have experienced similar patterns and the one being left wondering afterward if they are crazy, because not a part of the parting shots made any real sense.

Maybe the four of them will get interviewed by Gayle King and Robin Roberts, who will offer up their heartfelt sympathies, ala Jussie Smollet and R. Kelly.

If they shared fat, they all would be only 30 pounds over weight on average.

This whole thing is planned as the left has been doing for far too long. They know the propaganda wing will cover for them, so they make claims that aren’t true, and by virtue of being in the National Socialist party, it is true. Even if it isn’t. Because they felt it. Or imagined it. Or lied about it. So don’t go racist, sexist, or homophobic, because they have spoken.

Logic and truth need not apply. Just ask any of their 268 and growing genders…

caseoftheblues | July 21, 2019 at 7:33 am

While not exactly contributing to an ongoing discussion here I have to express what I have come to feel about these women….they are lying pieces of garbage and it’s painful to know they were elected by large margins to represent and make laws for our great country that they hate and want destroyed

See, what’s funny about this is that it’s completely false. Your headline is based on this quote from hot air:

As it turns out, Capitol Police “confirmed to Fox News that there has not been an increase in threats [against the Squad].”

The problem is, the Fox News article that’s based on never once states that the capital police said there has not been an increase in threats. Not once.

Why lie?

I’m not confident your take is correct. Didn’t that article say there was concern that an excessive focus on the Squad would cause security to be deficient in detecting genuine threats to other Members? In this context, the number and quality of threats to members in general seems to have increased, but the focus of that increase is not the Squad but other Members of the House of Representatives. (Why, some of them might even be Republicans? But that is not said anywhere.)

If there has been an increase in threats… an increase that just happens not to have involved Cortez, Omar, Tlaib and Pressley… why, exactly, does that make this presentation a lie?

      Awing1 in reply to JBourque. | July 21, 2019 at 3:50 pm

The lie is the claim that the Capitol Police stated that the threats against “The Squad” have not increased. That claim appears to be based on the excerpt I quoted from Hot Air, which is sourced to a Fox News article. The Fox News article does not say, anywhere, that Capitol Police said threats against “The Squad” had not increased.

Perhaps you are familiar with the word “inference” ?

“There is concern in the security ranks that if the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) responds to the “noise” surrounding the squad, it may actually miss more bona fide threats against other lawmakers.”

If your issue is with a lie, you must think that Fox lied. Fox’s reporting is not that the Capitol Police STATED the threats against the Squad had not increased… certainly not on the record. And yet, it is impossible to read the reporting and not come off believing “sources” familiar with the Capitol Police find that the police “disagree” with the notion that these four are under unique, acute and increasing threat, especially compared to higher profile members (like Speaker Pelosi perhaps).

Blaming this blog for misquoting Fox is thus silly.

          Awing1 in reply to JBourque. | July 21, 2019 at 6:48 pm

What you find it “impossible” not to believe isn’t really relevant to what is, and what is not, a lie. As you yourself acknowledge:

Fox’s reporting is not that the Capitol Police STATED the threats against the Squad had not increased

And yet, this blog’s headline is that this is exactly what happened. A proposition they tried to further in the article with the entry, quoting in part from Hot Air a statement that even a cursory review would have revealed was inaccurate:

Capitol Police “confirmed to Fox News that there has not been an increase in threats [against the Squad]

The article that both Hot Air and this blog cite as a source for that claim simply do not back it up.

All that said, I will note, even your first quote doesn’t say as much as you seem to think. The statement is regarding the feelings of the undefined “security ranks” *about* the Capitol Police, it is not a statement regarding the feelings of the Capitol Police security ranks. Reading anything but fiction passively, without engaging your brain, is a surefire way to confirm your own biases rather than comprehend what’s actually on the page. Fox News’ actual news division is a lot of things, liars is not one of them. That doesn’t mean you can read their articles in a lazy way, without the application of basic critical thinking skills you’d apply to the Washington Post or New York Times.

DaveGinOly in reply to JBourque. | July 21, 2019 at 9:52 pm

Of course, threats to the Squad have increased. They are new to Congress. They have gone from receiving zero threats (because nobody had heard of them) to receiving threats (like every other Congress critter who draws someone’s ire). So when the Squad says the number of threats they receive has increased, that’s almost certainly true. Does that mean they receive more threats than others? Not necessarily. But when they state “we’re receiving more threats,” they want you to believe they mean “more threats than most/others” in Congress. So they are lying by distorting the nature of the increase in the number of threats they receive. When you start at “zero,” one threat is an “increase.”

It’s interesting to watch how the left reverses logic. Once you get it, it becomes blatant and laughable – if it wasn’t so destructive.

The Goon Squad here is spewing the most vile Jew-hatred ever seen in this nation by ANY federal elected offical. When they get the desired reaction, they cry for bodyguards and special treatment.

What about the rest of us who are now subject to being victimized by their goons? WE need the protection, not these four scumbags.

LIARS! The 4 W-horse of the Apocalypse!

I want to put this on Facebook but I see no share button!

Wait, didn’t Maxine say it was OK to harass folks at dinner or other events and to run them out? And maybe rough them up a ‘little’?

Lefties are doing that.
Conservatives, not so much.
