Will be awhile before the draft is made public

Late Monday night, Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee completed a draft concluding there was no evidence of coordination between Trump’s campaign and Russian agents, according to the Associated Press.

The draft will not be made public until Democrat members of the committee have had an opportunity to review it, followed by a review from the FBI to ensure any classified information is redacted.

Conway spoke more about the draft on Fox News:

According to the AP, the GOP report questions interference by the intelligence community which claimed Russia’s intereference in the 2016 election was meant to help Trump:

In addition to the statement on coordination with Russians, the draft challenges an assessment made after the 2016 election that Russian meddling was an effort to help Trump. The January 2017 assessment revealed that the FBI, CIA and NSA had concluded that the Russian government, at the direction of President Vladimir Putin, waged a covert influence campaign to interfere in the election with the goal of hurting Democrat Hillary Clinton’s candidacy and helping Trump’s campaign.

House Intelligence Committee officials said they spent hundreds of hours reviewing raw source material used by the intelligence services in the assessment and that it did not meet the appropriate standards to make the claim about helping Trump. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the intelligence material.

Conaway said there will be a second report just dealing with the intelligence assessment and its credibility.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence issued a statement soon after the GOP announcement, saying it stood by the intelligence community’s findings. DNI spokesman Brian Hale said the office will review the findings of the committee’s report.

According to Conaway, the report will agree with the intelligence assessment on most other details, including that Russians did meddle in the election. It will detail Russian cyberattacks on U.S. institutions during the election and the use of social media to sow discord. It will also show a pattern of Russian attacks on European allies — information that could be redacted in the final report. And it will blame officials in President Barack Obama’s administration for a “lackluster” response and look at leaks from the intelligence community to the media.

It will include at least 25 recommendations, including how to improve election security, respond to cyberattacks and improve counterintelligence efforts.

Needless to say, Trump was thrilled:

Committee Democrats claim they “heard about the draft on the news” and “weren’t hold”:

SURPRISE!!

Perhaps Schiff’s inability to cite a single bit of evidence, even the slightest lead, had something to do with it. Did you read his rebuttal? It was more like a confirmation the entire Collusion was a concoction.

puhiawa: Did you read his rebuttal?

Yes. He says the investigation was ended prematurely. In particular, he said that people who refused to answer investigatory questions should have been compelled to answer under subpoena.

The commie chips in, what a SUPRISE.

    Losers.

Dems don’t dare let this go. If they do, their mentally ill base will come gunning for them. Literally, I do believe.

Those Democrats are such liars. “We weren’t told” they say, while they know full well that there is NO evidence! If they had found any, they would have already leaked it. They are simply messing with the gullible minds of the liberal masses in a very irresponsible and dangerous way.

Doubt it will convince any true believers but at least it’s progress in shutting down the waste of taxpayers money that these ongoing investigations are proving to be. Who knows, maybe by the time the next presidential election cycle rolls around the issue will have been put to bed and nobody but the outright kooks on the fringes of both parties will believe any of it.

“The draft will not be made public until Democrat members of the committee have had an opportunity to review it, followed by a review from the FBI to ensure any classified information is redacted.”

Ah, the irony of taking proper and necessary, and correct, steps before releasing the report. Our first glimpses will be a result of Democrat’s leaks and whining to the MSM. And who won’t feel better knowing that the FBI has reviewed it to prevent release of information protecting themselves… and guil…, er preventing the release of classified information. In any event, let’s hope the release isn’t dragged out; it will be good to get it out. Whether the administration decides to circle, back and address some of the serious issues it has disclosed will be interesting to see. let’s hope so.

WOW. So, after nearly a year and a half, the HIC merely states what almost everyone has already concluded. There was NO collusion between Trump and high ranking member of his campaign staff with Russia, during the 2016 election. Also, the majority of the Committee has determined that Russian government interests did attempt to meddle in the 2016 election. Big deal.

The only real evidence of collusion was between the Democrats, specifically the HRC campaign, and the Russians. They used Russian disinformation to create the Steele Dossier, which was then disseminated and used as the foundation for electronic surveillance on the Trump campaign. Something that the MSM has totally ignored. The dossier is what really sunk the HIC probe into Russia=Trump collusion. If the Russians fed disinformation, which would harm Trump, to the HRC campaign, this knocks the props out from under the charge that the Russians were attempting to secure the Presidency for Trump.

Mac45: So, after nearly a year and a half, the HIC merely states what almost everyone has already concluded. There was NO collusion between Trump and high ranking member of his campaign staff with Russia, during the 2016 election.

Of course that’s not accurate. U.S. intelligence agencies found that the Russians did try to tilt the election. Specifically, the release of DNC emails were intended to disrupt the Democratic campaign.

ConradCA in reply to Zachriel. | March 13, 2018 at 12:06 pm

The objective of the Russians wasn’t to put Trump or Hillary in power. It was to attack the legitimacy of the president by giving the losers an excuse not to accept the election results. Give the actions of the progressive fascist the Russians were successful.

puhiawa in reply to Zachriel. | March 13, 2018 at 2:29 pm

There is no evidence the Russians hacked the DNC. It is hearsay. Further, the DNC emails were hardly of consequence except to confirm a plot to secure the Democratic nomination. It was the Podesta emails that had the meat. And that was phished by Gluccifer 2, a Romanian.

      Mac45 in reply to Zachriel. | March 13, 2018 at 3:54 pm

Sorry, Zach, but it helps if you read the portion of posts that you repost.

First of all, none of the US intelligence agencies ever found any credible intelligence that collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian state existed. This included the FBI. That Russian assets did attempt to hack voter rolls and other computer systems is probably accurate. The DNC leak has never been tied to the Russians by any agency or any credible company or group. In fact, new evidence suggest that the DNC servers were not hacked, but were infiltrated by a person who had physical access to them [Seth Rich has been put forth as a possibly culprit]. The hacker of John Podesta’s emails has never been identified.

Where we have evidence of a campaign colluding with the Russian government is in the Steel Dossier. Though Steele’s sources are not identified, they are described as Russian nationals with whom Steele is supposed to have contact from his days as an intelligence operative. This most likely makes these “sources” part of the SVR or FSB. Of course, this is only feasible IF the Steele Dossier was not created wholly in-house by the DNC, HRC campaign and Fusion GPS.

Now for a reality check. Every nation on the planet attempts to interfere in the elections of other nations. Our last President personally campaigned FOR the leader of Kenya and AGAINST the leader of Israel. And most intelligence services feed opposition research to campaigns in democratic nations. This is nothing new. What usually happens is tit-for-tat. An intelligence service messes with us and our intelligence services mess with them.

Mac45: none of the US intelligence agencies ever found any credible intelligence that collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian state existed.

Nor did we say they did.

Mac45: The DNC leak has never been tied to the Russians by any agency or any credible company or group.

U.S. intelligence and independent cybersecurity firms have tied the DNC hack to Russian agents.

Mac45: The hacker of John Podesta’s emails has never been identified.

The phish was tied to Russian agents.

Mac45: but it helps if you read the portion of posts that you repost.

Sorry. We did misread your post.

Mac45: If the Russians fed disinformation, which would harm Trump, to the HRC campaign, this knocks the props out from under the charge that the Russians were attempting to secure the Presidency for Trump.

There’s no evidence of that at this point. In any case, that the Russians played both sides doesn’t mean they didn’t work to tilt the election. Like many people, they assumed that Clinton would win, and they wanted to damage her.
