Psych Profs Call Trump Mentally Unfit, Want Congress to End His Presidency

“alarming psychological instability”

Many people on the left have been behaving like escaped mental patients since the election. Perhaps these professors could give them some assistance.

Campus Reform reports:

Psych profs call on Congress to ‘end the Trump presidency’

Five psychiatry professors from various major universities are calling on Congress to declare President Donald Trump mentally unfit for office.

Their mission began almost immediately after Trump’s election, when three professors of psychiatry—one from Harvard University and two from the University of California, San Francisco—sent a letter to former president Barack Obama expressing their “grave concern” for the “mental instability” of the President-Elect.

Questioning “his fitness for the immense responsibilities of the office,” they suggested that Trump should “receive a full medical and neuropsychiatric evaluation by an impartial team of investigators” before assuming office.

A few months later, other psychology professors created a group called “Duty to Warn,” holding a conference at Yale University to make the case that Trump’s “dangerous mental illness” is a threat to America.

One of the professors involved in that group, Bandy Lee, subsequently did an interview with Chauncey DeVega during which she claimed that the United States is in a state of emergency because of Trump’s mental disabilities, saying she feels compelled to speak out about the matter because “many lives and our survival might be at stake.”

Lee, along with Columbia University psychiatry lecturer Robert Jay Lifton, M.D., has now joined forces with the three professors who signed the letter to Obama to write a new open letter, this time urging Congress to take steps to remove Trump from office.

The professors begin by referencing their previous public warnings about Trump’s “alarming psychological instability,” saying his “repeated failures to distinguish between reality and fantasy” and his “erratic responses to stress and crisis” have proven their point.

One constant that I have noted during 40 years of medical practice is that of all the various specialties, psychiatry is far and away the largest attractor of outright nutcases.
Furthermore, the psychiatric profession itself has issued a caution (all but a command) that diagnoses should not be made or declared without a thorough and good faith examination.

Thank you! I was going to make the same point, as more than one psych my family knows have made the same statement, at least two going so far as to call doing it malpractice!

If the docs were not card carrying, dues paying liberals, and did this, they would likely be accused before their medical boards, and de-certified.

But, as always, being ‘liberal’ means never having to pay for your actions.

I’m with Dr. Szasz, abolish it.

If anyone should have undergone a comprehensive psychological examination, it’s Obama. I swear he has daddy issues, which no doubt contribute to his narcissism, mental instability, and sexual hangups.

What would Dr. Thomas Szasz say if he were still alive?

Trump is a deeply flawed human being, but aren’t we all?

Calling somebody ‘mentally ill’ because you disagree with them is typical of these groups of people:
– Fascists, communists and tyrants (all the same thing if you think about it).
– People that are not sufficiently intelligent or educated to understand logical thinking and fallacies.
– Unscrupulous people with an agenda.

These so-called professors seem to be in the ‘all-of-the-above’ category, which makes them an embarrassment to their profession. They deserve to be publicly exposed and their professional licenses revoked.

Actually, my wife says that I am perfect and I can’t find a flaw in her thinking.

You’d have to be crazy to say that. You need to resign immediately and have yourself assessed by (Progressive) health professionals. /sarc

It seems to me that the people in dire need of mental counseling are the 5 professors who have abandoned every tenet of their profession and trying to diagnose from a far simply because they don’t like. Their fitness as professors also needs to be evaluated.

Hmmmm. This rings a bell. Oh wait. I remember. Bush. Bush was so diagnosed for years. By the same sort.

Those five psych professors should be dismissed from their universities for such unprofessional statements.

They are just broadcasting to the nation: don’t hire anyone with a psyche degree! Psych students have been taught by these bigoted charlatans and will be poisonous wherever they go.

“Diagnosing” a “patient” without actually seeing the “patient” and without the “patient’s” consent seems at best unprofessional and, at a minimum, surely says far more about the diagnosers than about the diagnosed.

But, it’s hardly a new tactic: apparently “In Your Guts You Know He’s Nuts” has been updated from its 1964 origins:
