Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has decided to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in D.C. on Wednesday. The State Department announced the men will “discuss Ukraine, Syria and bilateral issues.” Politico continued:

Lavrov and Tillerson met in Moscow in April, where they expressed conflicting views on whether Syrian President Bashar Assad was responsible for a gas attack on his own people.

The State Department said Tillerson and Lavrov will discuss “the need to stop the violence in eastern Ukraine and resolve the conflict through the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.”

On Syria, the two will talk about de-escalating the civil war, humanitarian assistance and how to “set the stage for a political settlement of the conflict.”
