Illegal Immigrant Students at Columbia Demand Free Healthcare and Housing

“We refuse to amend or change any of these demands”

And you know what? They’ll probably get everything the want. This is Columbia, after all.

Campus Reform reports:

Illegals demand subsidized healthcare, housing from Columbia

Illegal immigrants at Columbia University are demanding free health coverage along with mandatory “sensitivity training” for professors and staff.

“We refuse to amend or change any of these demands,” the group UndoCU began their 13-point list. “We expect the university to act,” they said, lamenting Columbia’s “lack of intrinsic interest in its [illegal] students.

One of the more audacious demands calls for “full reimbursement of the health insurance fees,” complaining that the university’s International Students and Scholars Office only refunds “portions of these fees.”

Columbia requires all students to be covered by health care while enrolled, which costs roughly $3,000 per year in addition to co-pays and deductibles.

UndoCU also demands “specialized fundraising for undocumented students,” in order to create “undocumented student[-]specific scholarships and grants” for illegal immigrant students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

“Need[-]based funding must be available for undocumented students at all Columbia University and affiliate schools,” the ultimatum continues, referring to affiliates such as Barnard College and Union Theological Seminary.

What the University Administration response ought to be:

Illegal Aliens: GFY. Attendance here is a privilege, not a right. Nobody owes you a damn thing.

Columbia should set interviews with ICE for all the illegals.

Here’s your free education…..and a ticket out of the country. Only at liberal colleges would they have the ability to demand freebies as felons, freebies actual citizens don’t get.

I believe they should get the free healthcare and free housing; the ICE detention cells provide both. They could then avail themselves of the free transportation back to their country of origin.

If that too harsh?

Columbia has invited these undocumented people into their campus and is sponsoring the cost of their education. Columbia should step up to the plate, do the right thing and assume the complete sponsor role. Our Immigration laws require that an immigrant be invited to immigrate and that that person have a sponsor who would support this person if they were unable to support themselves. Columbia saw a need to invite these people in to the country, their campus, illegally. Columbia should be responsible for everything that these people need and everything that these people do. Columbia is their sponsor.
As their sponsor, Columbia has adopted these people and should feed them, shelter them, provide them with health care, transportation, and all necessities of life, including but not limited to cell phones, computers and a retirement program as well as a few weeks of vacation each year . Columbia is a responsible organization that should be able to afford the full ride for these people that they sponsor.
The school’s sponsorship of these people should be complete – it is the right thing to do. A real comprehensive program would only add a few thousand a year to the school’s tuition. Just a drop in the bucket.
On this, Memorial Day 2017, maybe Columbia could include new scholarships for some Veterans and Gold Star Children.
