Student Group and Profs at Cornell Demand Fund for Illegal Immigrant Students

“Cornell Coalition for Inclusive Democracy”

Where is the money going to come from? Who is going to pay for it?

The Daily Caller reports:

Professors, Students Demand College Start Fund For Illegal Immigrants

Cornell University students hosted a protest to demand the college provide funds for all illegal immigrant students.

The protest, organized by the Cornell Coalition for Inclusive Democracy, drew about 250 students and faculty members, reports Heat Street.

The protesters want the school to provide special funding for all immigrant students, even those not protected by DACA.

“Our endangered community members still lack explicit assurance that the institution that took them in will protect them,” Professor Russell Rickford said. “That’s shameful.”

The group also wants Cornell to provide on-campus housing and shelter for immigrant students who have been warned from traveling overseas. They want the college to fight for legislation that protects illegal immigrants.

They also called on the campus police to not release information about illegal immigrant students unless absolutely necessary.

“State explicitly that CUPD will join the Tompkins County Sheriff and Ithaca Police Department in declining to honor civil immigration detainer requests (which is not legally required!) from a federal agent unless accompanied by a judicial warrant,” the demand read.

“No ban. No wall. Sanctuary for all,” protesters chanted, a chorus led by Rickford.

Comments

They can pass the pussy-ears around and stay the hell out of my pocket.

Hmmm …. Rickford, an assoc professor in History. I wonder how much of his $150K annual compensation (average for assoc profs) he’s willing to contribute to this new fund.

A simple reply to the demand is in order. That reply should read as follows: “No.”

I have no problem with this, as long as the idiots demanding the fund also pay for it.

All of this garbage happening at Cornell must be an acute embarrassment for LI’s founder. Professor Jacobson, you have my empathy for the frustration you must be experiencing.

Let the students contribute to it from their scholarship funds, and the teachers from their income and 401Ks.

Is it not the height of absurdity when the belief that those who are not American citizens and who are here illegally are afforded more rights, more benefits, and more protections than American citizens who pay for it all?
