Slate Columnist: Trump Will Turn America Into ‘Racist Police State’

Trump Thank-you Tour Like ‘Klan, White-Supremacist’ Rallies

Guess the Chris Hayes contingent missed the memo from President Obama about giving Trump a chance . . . The topic on Hayes’ MSNBC show last night was Trump’s thank-you tour of states that had supported him. Hayes kicked things off by making a thinly-veiled Hitler allusion, saying the Trump rallies feel “not that far from rallies for the ‘leader,’ which don’t have a great history in politics across the world.”

Slate columnist Michelle Goldberg was not so coy, coming right out and claiming that Trump is “going to turn our country into a racist police state.” Not to be outdone, Fordham professor Christina Greer said that the Trump rallies “have a feeling of a Klan rally, they have a feel of a white-supremacist rally.”

There was also some paranoia on display. Goldberg claimed to detect a “menacing and threatening” tone in Trump’s “menacing asides” at the rallies to people who didn’t vote for him. So what was so “menacing and threatening?” Why, Trump said that people who opposed him “are on our side, they just don’t know it yet” and “you’re going to like what we have in store.” Scary stuff!

CHRIS HAYES: I have a sort of instinctual aversion to the mode of the Trump rally, particularly after he won, because it feels like, it feels not that far from rallies for [air quotes] “the leader,” which don’t have a great history, I think, in politics across the world.

. . .

MICHELLE GOLDBERG: The whole posture is kind of one of both rallying the people who voted for him, and also kind of menacing and threatening the majority who didn’t, right, with these sort of menacing asides: they’re on our side, they just don’t know it yet. You’re going to like what we have in store. It’s—I don’t think I’m reading too much into it. [Ed.: actually, you are.]

HAYES: That’s my question, right? In the words of Barack Obama, like, are you saying that’s menacing because of the words, or are you saying it because it’s coming from the mouth of Donald Trump?

GOLDBERG: Because it’s coming from the mouth of Donald Trump, who’s going to turn our country into a racist police state.

CHRISTINA GREER: Well, I think that’s what he ran on, and here we are. Trump rallies have a feeling of a Klan rally, they have a feel of a white-supremacist rally.

Too late!

Barracula already turned America largely into a racist police state.

T-rump won’t reverse that, but he won’t cause that, either.

Care to explain your view of our “racist police state”? Naming a few examples or features would be a start.

I’ll bet my house Trump will remove or reverse the significant federal rules, regs, or actions that are purely race based. For starters, I doubt we will see every shooting that involves white/black to be raised to a major federal investigation in a witch hunt for “hate” or “racism.”

Of course it will become what she predicts. As another poster noted, there is confirmation bias throughout much of the media. And since they have a unwavering knack to see everything through a race prism, everything they will define as negative will be described through race. You see it very plainly. The Democrats and the media are planning on 4 years of attacks based on race. (I could have just typed “Democrats” and saved typing “media”.) If a policy removes federal dollars from a program, I am very certain the first place the media will look and highlight is “How many minorities are affected?” They may look at women second.

We will be deluged with endless but shallow and often baseless “news” about racism and sexism.

Oh for heavens sake! Thse idiotic women have never in their lives attended either a Hitler rally or a KKK rally, so how on earth would they know how one feels?

And I don’t suppose that they noticed Obama throngs of weeping, fainting supporters, the ones who taught little children to sing hymns to Obama or even go so far as to pledge allegiance to him?

These haters are not only going to not give President Elect Donald Trump a chance, they are going to continue their vitriol every single day for the next four years in hopes that they can destroy him the way they did Bush.

Just how would Michelle Goldberg know exactly what a Klan rally or a white supremacist rally feel like? She is either speaking from experience by having been there or she is just making this up. If it is the latter, then this is (gasp!) fake news and if it is the former, then what exactly was she doing at these rallies to learn how they “felt”?

Nothing to see here folks. Just more irrational anti-Trump hysteria from those who were never taught on how to lose, how to be responsible for your own actions, how to be ethical, or how to be honest.

Ah the quivering liberal … BOO

Priceless.

“HAYES: That’s my question, right? In the words of Barack Obama, like, are you saying that’s menacing because of the words, or are you saying it because it’s coming from the mouth of Donald Trump?

GOLDBERG: Because it’s coming from the mouth of Donald Trump, who’s going to turn our country into a racist police state.”

This could appear in a textbook under “confirmation bias”.

These two sound like gender studies professors than they do reporters.

I wish we could send all these idiots back in a time machine, let them compare life in 2016 America with life under Hitler and the Nazis in 1939 Berlin.

The issue is these clowns have CONVINCED themselves this is coming. There is no changing their minds regardless.

Its going to be a long 8 years for these idiots 🙂

The Treasonous Criminal Zerobama already turned the US into a racist state, and the Democrats are promoting the idea. Trump is relatively neutral, but will have a hard time combating Democrat race baiting.

Pooh on them!

I anticipate that race relations will be better under the Trump administration, because he is not ideologically driven as Obama. So, there won’t be the continual racial-wedge used. Donald Trump has, through business practices, experience with people from all walks of life.

Those who insist upon seeing life through a racist lens will always see racism whether genuine or not.

A short poem for traumatized
Liberals, uh-hem–

“The Trump is coming!
Run Away, Run Away!!
You know,
France has better hot cocoa
Anyway….”

More FAKE NEWS!

They created scary phantoms to frighten their followers, and now they are jumping at every shadow in every closet. Fun times.

BTW, one of you left your Gestapo regalia at our last meetup. Intials “M.A.” inside the collar. If you could please pick it up before we launch Operation False Dawn, that would be cool 🙂

[class] diversity policies that judge individuals by the color of their clump of cells, rather than by the content of their character/principles, has had progressive consequences for human and civil rights.

Best election evah!
Watching the libs melt down is fantastic. Thank you President Trump.

This almost as good as Naomi Wolf’s claim after GWB was elected the second time that he would create a national crisis to not have to hold an election for his successor. The only person that came even close to that prediction was obama.

We can always rely on Dems to accuse their opponents of doing what the Dems themselves have been trying to do.

Another hysteric. She probably cried hardest on election night.
