Scarborough Rips MSM’s Hypocritical ‘Freak Out’ Over Trump Refusal to Blindly Accept Election Result

Scarborough to Liberals: Bathe In Your Hypocrisy!

Every couple of weeks, Joe Scarborough rebuilds lost conservative street cred by going on a good rant against liberals and the MSM. He did so in spades on today’s Morning Joe, comprehensively crushing libs for their hypocrisy in “freaking out” over Trump’s wait-and-see answer at last night’s debate to the question of whether he’d accept the results of the election.

Excerpts: “the media got something they can absolutely freak out about and claim that he is an agent of Vladimir Putin and destroying democracy in America and it’s just another example of the media having to find a little phrase and freak out when as a Republican I have listened to Democrats talk about the only two times we won the White House in like 800 years that we stole both elections . . . hell, even Bernie Sanders supporters just six months ago were saying that Hillary Clinton was rigging the election.”

Note: before Joe went on his impressive rant, Mika Brzezinski narrated a good montage that Morning Joe had assembled of statements by the MSM and Dem candidates over the years, including Al Gore and Howard Dean, accusing elections of being “stolen,” etc.

Note Dos: Things even got a bit chippy between Joe and the mild-mannered Harold Ford, Jr., a Hillary backer. When Ford tried to get Joe to acknowledge that there had never been a presidential candidate who had questioned the election results, Scarborough shot back “Harold, Harold, I’m not on the witness stand.”

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Do you know what? This is an example, the media got something they can absolutely freak out about and claim that he’s an agent of Vladimir Putin and destroying democracy in America and it’s just another example of the media having to find a little phrase and freak out when as a Republican I have listened to Democrats talk about the only two times we won the White House in like 800 years that we stole both elections.

I had to sit through Fahrenheit 911 and a lady was sobbing violently behind me on the Upper West Side about the election being stolen from George Bush and I patted her halfway through, I go, it’s all right, it’s all right, ma’am. It’s all right. It’s all a lie anyway.

Democrats have been whining for 16 years, they’re still writing articles about how Bush stole the elections in 2000 and 2004. So this holier-than-thou attitude about this is the first time anyone has suggested that the election is not a sacrosanct process, it’s a joke! So you guys bathe in that hypocrisy if you want to, I’d just like to hear how the debate went. Go ahead, bathe.

HAROLD FORD, JR.: But Joe, you can’t you can’t–the difference is what Michael just said: it’s the candidate himself. You will have spectators, voters, political officials, elected officials all contemplating, writers saying that this didn’t happen this way, they stole it, Bush did this but you never had the presidential candidate do what he did last night —

JOE: So, let me be very specific. My target this morning for my mockery are the very people that are writing articles today on their blogs that are saying [mocking melodramatic tone]: this is a threat to the democracy, the electoral process in America is sacrosanct and if we ever doubt this are we no better than Putin? Those are the people I’m mocking. I’m not comparing him to Al Gore.

FORD: Can you acknowledge there has never been a presidential candidate to do what he did last night?

JOE: Harold, Harold, I’m not on the witness stand here. I am just saying it is rich that the very thing that the Democrats — I had a lady come up to me yesterday who I know very well, she’s a dear, dear friend of the family and she said, oh, Joe, oh, Joe, how horrible will it be if Kate has to grow up in a country with a president that doesn’t respect women any more than Donald Trump? I said, it will be about the same as having middle-school boys grow up in a world where Bill Clinton was President of the United States. It’s pretty bad. And, you know, said —

FORD: I don’t know how that relates to what we’re talking about.

JOE: It relates to the hypocrisy that Democrats forget everything that they’ve been saying on their blogs, in their newspapers, in their magazines over the past 16 years. I’m not even mad about it. It’s very funny and here’s the great thing: it’s all on Google. I ask you to do what Hillary Clinton asked last night. Just Google all of this and you will see that Democrats, who are shocked and stunned and deeply saddened this morning, were the very ones — hell, even Bernie Sanders supporters just six months ago were saying that Hillary Clinton was rigging the election!

Sounds like Joe has read Wikileaks and watched Project Veritas videos.

But, the effect won’t last long. His bosses will have him hit the erase button.

I would like to see some outrage over a campaign that pays to promote violence against voters. THAT is a threat to democracy.

casualobserver | October 20, 2016 at 8:51 am

Well I have to give Harold Ford credit for highlighting that Dems are masterful at having surrogates do the dirty work keeping the stolen election memes alive. Even if some are indirectly affiliated like the media or film makers. But he cannot deny that Gore took that position immediately after his loss. But then realized how he had an army of surrogates to do the work for him.

Good for Joe. Did Trump make that case when he had several tens of millions of people watching?

I honestly don’t know because I was watching the baseball game mostly. I flipped over to the debates during commercials. From what I saw, this debate looked more like the first debate which Hillary won, than the second debate which I thought was Trump’s strongest performance in both the primaries and the general.

Trump looked defensive, unable to flesh out the issues with any detail, and less able to put the onus back on her (though he did do some of that).

On whether Trump would accept the results of the debate, the only thing I saw from Trump was something like “we’ll see”.

I did not see him say Democrat apparatchiks have been claiming for 16 years that the 2000 election was stolen. I did not see him bring up the devastating Project Veritas videos showing Bob Creamer – the husband of a fricking sitting Congresswoman, conspiring to organize efforts to commit voter fraud to, you know, rig the election. He also conspired to commit violence at Trump rallies.

I may have missed it because I was more interested in the game. Did Trump bring those up? Did he go into any greater depth than “we’ll see”?

Humphrey's Executor | October 20, 2016 at 9:05 am

It was astonishing how quickly, even at Fox, they latched onto this and its silly. He’s supposed to accept the result in advance regardless of how close it is or if there is evidence of fraud, etc? Talk about an echo chamber.

casualobserver in reply to Humphrey's Executor. | October 20, 2016 at 9:45 am

I don’t have the patience for watching most of the “analysis” of debates. But what little I’ve seen, people on Fox were simply talking about how the media has tweeted, posted, written about his comment almost exclusively and little else. Maybe some of the “fair and balanced” talking heads they bring on have become verklempt about it?

The question was…….if you lose……
The answer……..I’ll keep you in suspense…..how presidential. Sort of reminiscent of a soap opera….

casualobserver in reply to Lee Jan. | October 20, 2016 at 9:48 am

This notion of being “presidential” is entirely overwrought. Unless you prefer a two-faced person in office. For example, are you content with the contrast between the public and private Clinton, or Nixon? How about JFK?

Common Dreams hammered Trump for saying this, too, and is getting some serious flack from its members (especially Bernie backers) in the comments section: http://commondreams.org/news/2016/10/19/trump-will-let-nation-know-if-election-was-rigged-once-he-sees-who-wins .

Worth a look.

Selective exclusion (“=”), progressive wars, trials by sodomy and abortion, class diversity (e.g. racism, sexism), “green” blight, trickle-up poverty, capital punishment of the wholly innocent (i.e. abortion rites), scientific mysticism, and whatever Planned Parenthood is “recycling”. It’s Pro-Choice. It’s indoctrinated, purchased bigotry… sanctimonious hypocrisy. That said, survival of the fittest, dodos, twilighters, and irredeemables.

2nd Ammendment Mother | October 20, 2016 at 10:42 am

Why do they wish to attempt to deny any candidate due process if something untowards does occur? Something like 110% voter turnout in multiple precincts, Black Panthers threatening people who might vote wrong, or too many dead voters showing up at the polls.

And Hillary certainly didn’t answer that question…..

I find Trump’s allegation of the rigging of the election bizarre. It advertises his understanding that he will lose the election. He disclaims responsibility for the loss in advance, but there it is, even if his enthusiasts fail to understand what he is saying.

Why would Trump advertise his loss in advance? He wants us to know that it’s not his fault. It couldn’t be helped. It’s beyond his control. When he loses an eminently winnable race to the most beatable Democratic candidate of the modern era, so he believes, it won’t be because of his failures as a candidate.

It certainly seems to be beyond his control to get a handle on the personality defects that have manifested themselves within 30 minutes or so of his debates with Clinton. If he prepared at all for these showdowns, it barely showed. It makes more sense to infer that Trump is throwing the election than to assert that it is rigged.

Hillary Clinton is a sinister character but an utterly pathetic candidate. To anyone paying attention, her manifest flaws, weaknesses and wrongdoing made themselves apparent one way or another last night. The evidence continues to mount every day. A modestly capable candidate could make hash of her.

Trump is not the man. He can barely frame a coherent thought or articulate a comprehensible argument against her.

Yeah, T-rump was not so much pushed from the T-rump train, as he jumped from it.

Is the Mushroom Media “rigged”? Yes, of course, as anyone with a working brain has known for decades.

Which is WHY T-rump should have been forewarned and forearmed.

He wasn’t. He was disarmed and stupid.

In the first place, there is no evidence that Trump is expecting to LOSE the election. In fact, the opposite might well be true, as long as there is no vote fraud or it is held to a minimum. It is much more likely that the trumpeting of “election fraud” is being done for prophylactic purposes; to reduce such fraud.

To warn referees in any contest that an opponent has a history of cheating and should be watched closely, is common in every competitive venue, from a court of law to Pop Warner football. Knowing that their activities are being closely monitored and that sanctions will occur if they are caught violating the rules (law) tends to keep most people honest. Trump is simply attempting to level the playing field against a known, illegal activity engaged in by his opponents.

Now we have MEDIA reports that there are millions of dead people still on the voter rolls. We have media reports that there are a number of instances where said deceased person has continued to vote in several elections from within their grave. We have media reports of people from out of state registering to vote in certain locales. We have media reports of illegals casting ballots. We have media reports of voters not only voting 5-6 times, in a given election, but being caught doing it and some were even prosecuted. We have substantiated media reports of armed service members overseas ballots not being delivered in time to be counted, even though the were posted far in advance of the election. In all of these cases, the activity benefited the Democrat candidate, not the Republican. So, I do not think that it is irrational to suspect that there will be widespread voting irregularities that will benefit the Democrat candidate, in this election.

“In the first place, there is no evidence that Trump is expecting to LOSE the election.”

Oh, bullshit! T-rump has been doing the ground prep for weeks to lay off his loss on EVERYBODY but himself.

We’ve only known of everything you assert for decades, and there’s a lot of evidence to show that it’s BETTER than it has been in the past, and BECAUSE Americans have worked to correct vote corruption, etc.

      Don’t you know any history?

Actually, I hold a DEGREE in history from a prestigious university. So, yes, I DO KNOW history.

Obvious vote fraud HAS declined, since the 1930s. However, it still exists in a much more surreptitious manner. Even though the old tried and true methods of directly buying votes, having the dead vote and stuffing the ballot box are still used, it is now done with much greater finesse. In national elections, people are registered in multiple states and vote in each, for a national candidate. Illegals are registered to vote and voter ID laws are struck down by political judicial hacks to allow their votes to stand. Felons seem to vote in increasing numbers every year. The write-in ballots of the elderly are co-opted by political agents. And, electronic voting terminals allow for votes to be tabulated improperly. Then, of course, there is the old tried and true method of “finding” ballots, usually in a basement or the trunk of someone’s car, and counting them. And, for some reason, these ballots always seem to benefit Democrats. Check out the Washington gubernatorial election in 2004 as an example.

Stories of voter registration and voting “irregularities” surface in every single national election. And, as it is impossible to withdraw a person’s vote, once it has been presented, this means that, even if an ineligible voter is discovered, their vote(s) still stand.

Now, as to Trump setting up a defense to blame others for a loss. This is always possible. However, there is no more evidence to support this, than there is that his actions are an attempt to limit vote fraud.

2nd Ammendment Mother in reply to Ragspierre. | October 20, 2016 at 6:11 pm

Admittedly, I hear Trump’s warning to Americans through very jaded lenses. After living in El Paso County Texas for 25 years, I saw almost every way possible for the ballot box to be rigged.

I have personally been in face to face meetings with bag men who would guarantee a candidate a fixed number of mail in ballots for a price. I’ve watched a school district pay those same fixers to deliver bond elections.

I’ve been a poll worker where 2 ladies came in and claimed to be the same deceased voter.

I’ve sat beside a lady who requested and filled out ballots for incapacitated nursing home residents.

I’ve watched a candidate drive van loads of the same ladies to early voting sites with a list of different names to vote under.

I’ve read a voter roll that had 60 plus people registered to the exact same address who all vote in every election.

I went to college with kids who were paid to hop on a bus and vote in multiple precincts on election day.

So…. when I hear Trump’s exhortation, I kind of get the “if you see something, say something” vibe….. but that’s just me and my pretty tin hat.

Even Joe can’t deny it.

Oh, and hillary, the lying beast can go on and on and on telling half truths, plain lies, but because she talks a good game we should elect her?

Trump 2016…

Amen. Their thought is, the best liar should win, because lies sound so good.

Here’s a lie, please send me $10 million, and I will send you my newly-developed anti-gravity machine which uses no fuel, will keep you protected from the elements, and will carry you to any destination at 550 m.p.h.

    That’s a lie worth $10 million!

Roll-Over Party hypocrits are worse than the liberal media. Remember how the ROP leaders were mouse trapped by AG Lynch into saying they support her decision to accept the FBI’s recommendation on the Illary email investigation? The fix was in and they walked right into the trap. Trump’s not that naive.
