Open Thread: Democrats in Turmoil, Convention Chaos

Day one of the dumpster fire

As promised:

We’ll be updating throughout the day as chaos warrants.

Debbie Wasserman Shultz resigns in disgrace, is booed off stage, jumps aboard Hillary’s ship:

If you thought we were above enjoying moments like this one, you were wrong. Former Democratic National Convention Chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Shultz was booed off the stage at a Florida delegation breakfast this morning:

How bad was it? This bad:

If you’re just catching up to the drama, DWS announced plans to resign from her post as chairwoman of the DNC Sunday after Wikileaks published more than 20,000 emails showing the DNC’s clear preference for Hillary as a candidate. She will oversee the DNC before hanging up her hat. Some of the leaked emails insinuate the DNC was trading donations for federal appointments. DWS’s next endeavor? Surrogate for Hillary’s campaign of course.

DWS won’t open today’s convention:

“Lock her up!” chant…Bernie Sanders supporters?

In a pre-convention protest Sunday, Sanders supporters chanted, “lock her up,” while brandishing “Hillary for Prison” signs:

It’s not just Republicans that want presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in prison.

At a lively Sunday march in support of former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, chants of “lock her up,” “Hillary for Prison” signs and t-shirts and calls for indictment were common among the most ardent supporters of Mr. Sanders, who arrived in Philadelphia to make their voices heard to the delegates attending the Democratic National Convention.

Republicans used last week’s Republican National Convention to make the case that Mrs. Clinton’s perceived ethical lapses made her unfit for office. Delegates to the Republican convention could be heard chanting “Lock her up!” while “Hillary for Prison” shirts and bumper stickers have proliferated across the country.

Mrs. Clinton hasn’t been accused of any criminal wrongdoing — in fact, Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey explicitly said that her use of a private email server for government work did not rise to the level that would justify criminal charges. However, Mr. Comey called her “extremely careless” in her handling of the nation’s secrets by running her work email off a private server, while a State Department probe concluded that she was in violation of Department rules.

But at the pro-Sanders rally, attendees were more than eager to list the reasons that Mrs. Clinton deserved to be incarcerated. At least once during a four-mile march from City Hall to Roosevelt Park, rallygoers began loudly chanting “Lock her up!” — the same chant heard on the floor of the RNC.

laughing minions

Sanders supporters list of Hillary grievances includes pant suits:

The Great Boo-ening claims another victim — Nancy Pelosi:

Bernie Sanders supporters seem to have no interest in falling in line with the whole party unity thing. Not only did they boo Debbie Wasserman Shultz off stage, they booed Nancy Pelosi.

The disgruntled delegates started interrupting and booing individuals who were slotted to speak at the event the day the Democratic National Convention is set to start.

“Members of the delegation repeatedly disrupted the lineup of speakers, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, with protestations against Clinton and cheers for her erstwhile primary rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders,” Roll Call reported.

Pelosi tried to send a message of unity to the audience despite the boos, which continued as other speakers came to the podium.

“But whenever a speaker talked about uniting to elect Clinton in November, the crowd balked. They booed Rep. Michael M. Honda. And chanted, “Bernie, Bernie, Bernie!” during Rep. Barbara Lee’s address,” Roll Call noted.

Bernie says Hillary/Kaine must be elected, crowd boos:

CYA aka DNC:

IMG_20160725_133125

Donate your spare beans to the fart-in cause. For the children…or something:

DNC apologizes to Sanders for all the mean things they said in hacked emails:

I’m so old, I remember when Randy Quaid was not insane:

And then InfoWars showed up:

ALL the train-stopping protests!:

I see the whole party unity thing is going swell:

You will be made to cheer:

2016: the year that Democrats vote for the Republican candidate and and Republicans vote for the Democrat candidate. This election is so FUBAR!

Is that dumpster fire a picture of Chicago, 1968?

“The disclosed DNC emails sure look like the potential Clinton Administration has intertwined the appointments to federal government boards and commissions with the political and fund raising operations of the Democratic Party,” Boehm told The Daily Caller.

It would be news if the Clintons didn’t do this. Still, beat them over the head with it.

FYI, the full documentary “Clinton Cash” is available on YouTube.

What absolute blithering *idiot* let DWS speak anywhere around the convention? Before the DNC email release, she was hated by the Bernie #Fixisin crowd, now she’s hated by both H-> and Bernie voters. Every word she says in public from now until November is another hundred votes for Trump.

So what I’m saying is, Hillary made a good choice picking her for your team. Go ahead and let her talk on the air as *much* as you want. I’ll go make popcorn.

The best part is that was so totally self-inflicted. They have no one to blame except themselves. The whole party is corrupt and dishonest, so it would follow that they would have the queen of it all as a candidate.

A realignment of voters allegiance to parties is taking place. How the realignment works out is yet to be determined.

Here is one reallignment scenario:

1. The democrat party has become a European globalist elite socialist style party. It opposes many of the values of the founders. The socialists are not yet a majority in the country but they are significant in numbers. Not fringe like the green party.

2. Trump has begun the transformation of the GOP into a conservative nationalist/populist party, and there are enough people available for this new GOP to become a majority party. This party could draw from former democrats, independents, and most of the GOP. What remains to be seen will be whether the Bush/neocon wing of the GOP stay GOP or form their own fringe party of a size on a par with the greens or best case scenario the libertarians.

Trump is no conservative. And please don’t lump the Tea Party types in with the RINOs and certainly not the Trumpublicans.

Trump is a conservative. He just isn’t an interventionist globalist free trade even if its unfair to USA purist dogmatic conservative. He is much closer to being a Reagan conservative than what you think are proper conservatives today.

As for tea party people I’m confident the majority love Trump because Trump will blow up the GOPe.

The Bill Kristol wing of the GOP may choose historical irrelevance by starting some new butt hurt party but they will have little to no influence. Just like the greens and libertarians.

buckeyeminuteman in reply to JYLD. | July 25, 2016 at 4:31 pm

Conservatives don’t support Hillary for president. Conservatives don’t support planned parenthood. They don’t donate money to politicians like Anthony Wiener, they don’t use eminent domain in an attempt to further themselves and they certainly don’t encourage their fans to punch protesters in the face. Think back to 2009 and 2010, the Tea Party did none of those things. Quite the opposite.

Ragspierre in reply to buckeyeminuteman. | July 25, 2016 at 3:48 pm

Der Donald is a ANTI-conservate, ANTI-constitution BIG GOVERNMENT statist, who is NOTHING like Reagan.

He HATES market economics and choice in how you trade and with whom you trade. He is an enemy of liberty. He’s also an economics moron who’s trade policy is exactly like Bernie Sanders’ and the AFL-CIO.

He will do NOTHING to the “GOPe” except combine with them. That’s just who he is and had always been. He’s Mr. Establishment, and a life-long corrupt crony capitalist, and now a full-blown oligarch.

There are idiots here who use terms like “Globalist” that have no meaning without knowing WTF they mean by the term. Because they are in-group terms. They refuse to define what that means.

T-rump is the LAST thing from a conservative.

Fiftycaltx in reply to Ragspierre. | July 25, 2016 at 6:35 pm

So, you voting for Hitlery or Trump? If you say Hitlery, I’ll pay for a tattoo so you can show your virtue. It has to be on your forehead. A nice big “V”.

Ragspierre in reply to Ragspierre. | July 25, 2016 at 8:08 pm

Why would I DREAM of soiling my vote for either stinking, lying sack of shit Collectivist?

Why would I associate with the likes of you, who soberly assures it it is sound science that unborn humans are “parasites” on their mother?

Tell you what I will do. I’ll pay for a big purple “C” tattoo on YOUR forehead, for “catamite.

Valerie in reply to JYLD. | July 25, 2016 at 3:14 pm

I like to think of our history is being a spiral. As time goes one, we adopt what we think are good ideas from wherever they come, and then we correct a little, in order to retain the good things we have. What happens to our political parties in the process, however, is very, very messy.

tom swift in reply to JYLD. | July 25, 2016 at 4:07 pm

Trump has begun the transformation of the GOP into a conservative nationalist/populist party

You immediately run up hard against the problem that we really have no idea what a “conservative” is. There ae several variants, and some are almost diametrically opposed. But all self-proclaimed “conservatives” seem smugly certain that their own brand of conservatism is the Conservatism, and all those others aren’t conservatism at all. So those who consider themselves conservatives too often work at cross-purposes, and liberals move into the vacuum created.

By at least one perfectly good definition, Trump is very conservative. By some other definitions, not so much.

Ragspierre in reply to tom swift. | July 25, 2016 at 4:55 pm

“You immediately run up hard against the problem that we really have no idea what a “conservative” is. There ae several variants, and some are almost diametrically opposed.”

As usual, tom, you’re full of shit.

YOU have no idea what a “conservative” is, or you could not write such stupid pablum.

Conservatives have certain toxonomic characteristics. A belief in small government being one. An adherence to the rule of law, with the Constitution being the charter of our government and the root of our laws. Individual rights and liberties, along with the consequences that go with the exercise of each. The belief that we have the power and the right to govern ourselves. And that property rights are a necessary part of our liberty and sovereignty. The firm conviction that all people are equal under the law, and equally capable of governing themselves and achieving. I could go on.

“By at least one perfectly good definition, Trump is very conservative. By some other definitions, not so much.”

      Really? Elaborate.

Ragspierre in reply to JYLD. | July 25, 2016 at 4:41 pm

“Trump has begun the transformation of the GOP into a conservative nationalist/populist party, and there are enough people available for this new GOP to become a majority party. This party could draw from former democrats, independents, and most of the GOP.”

See, that hodge-podge of bullshit is typical of the “new T=rumpian party” nonsense some T=rump cultists just tots believe in.

Note that there is direct conflict between “populism” (ALWAYS a Collectivist notion in our history) and “conservatives”. You don’t have one and the other. You have EITHER.

This moron also posits the you will have Deemocrats, independents, and GOP types who all somehow form a tainted brew that winds up being “conservative”.

If you’re conservative, you CERTAINLY ain’t a Deemocrat. You LIKELY are not a member of the GOP (especially after this month), and you MIGHT be independent, but who knows what we independents are without asking us individually?

Given that the “leader” of this political corruption will be T-rump, according to this cultist, what you will have is a BIG GOVERNMENT populist party. It will act exactly like you’d expect one to act. And THAT is not “conservative” in any respect.

JYLD in reply to Ragspierre. | July 25, 2016 at 7:42 pm

Some people are so adverse to change you wonder how they manage to change their clothes when they get home from work.

We’ll put you down for the new powerless Bill Kristol butt hurt party. The grand old BHP.

On a other item saw this about senior Cruz today.

Cruz’s move, however, appears to have backfired. While 60% of Republican voters had a positive impression of the former presidential candidate before the convention, just 33% have one now.

Ragspierre in reply to JYLD. | July 25, 2016 at 7:56 pm

See, you poor T-rump cultist, you think that having integrity is a popularity contest.

This is typical of T-rump suckers. They insist on just sucking up T-rump’s various and sundry lies, just EXACTLY like Obama cultists.

Critical thinking and dealing in reality is heresy.

T-rump is a stinking, lying, pathological Collectivist thug. There is ample evidence to make this patently obvious to anyone. I you chose to ignore the evidence, that is your choice, and your responsibility.

Dealing in reality, running for President IS a popularity contest. If when running for president the winner gets determined by who pretends to be the most pure conservative or who has the least number of friends then Cruz will have it in the bag.

nordic_prince | July 25, 2016 at 2:27 pm

Clearly the minions are unhappy with Queen Hillary ~

Did you ever notice that you rarely see a full-body photo of DWS? Bing has hundreds and hundreds of images of the woman and all but a couple are from the waist up. Apparently seeing her large caboose and telephone pole legs is too scary for the general public. I’ve always wondered how a public figure accomplishes censorship like that.

Valerie in reply to snopercod. | July 25, 2016 at 3:16 pm

    FDR got away with it.

ugottabekiddinme in reply to snopercod. | July 25, 2016 at 4:33 pm

Why the DWS coverup below the waist? My guess is the prevalence these days of liberal and far-left editors (but I repeat myself) who are female (along with pajama-boy feminist ‘males”). They only show unattractive features of GOP women they despise and of other ordinary citizens they look down on. It is that kind of snark at work. My two cents.

holdingmynose | July 25, 2016 at 2:37 pm

DWS has announced that she will not be gavelling the convention to (dis)order tonight. Instead she asked Mayor Rawlings-Blake of Baltimore to do the honors. With BLM at the convention in force one wonders if MR-B will give those who want to destroy room to do so as she did in Charm City during the riots last year.

Ex-Mayor Hyphen announced it then started to leave the stage. Aide had to stop her and push her back to bang the gavel.

I love the smell of Dukakis.

Was the DNC using Platte River for their IT as well?

The leaked e-mails expose so many violations of Federal Law that I can see why the FBI is already investigating the leakers. They must be stopped.
Golly.

mariner in reply to snowshooze. | July 25, 2016 at 7:28 pm

It’s certainly not to hold them to account.

Perhaps to make sure no one else is able to hold them to account.

tigercpa in reply to snowshooze. | July 26, 2016 at 11:21 am

Exactly. The FBI is not there to investigate THE corruption, but rather WHO EXPOSED the corruption….big difference.

” Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey explicitly said that her use of a private email server for government work did not rise to the level that would justify criminal charges.

No, he did not. He laid out the facts showing an indictment was justified, and then, without giving a reason, said said that no prosecutor would bring the case. This was definitely not the same thing as saying “her behavior did not rise to the level that would justify criminal charges.”

He also said that other people in the same circumstance would be prosecuted.

I inferred the fix was in, or more charitably, that he was unwilling to indict a potential presidential candidate. I notice that neither Bill Clinton nor Donald Trump have received that kind of pass from other prosecutors and judges.

One word: schadenfreude

So now according to Dem’s it’s Russia’s fault!
Russia leaked the emails before the DNC to undermine Hillary and give the election to Trump.

see: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/clinton-campaign–and-some-cyber-experts–say-russia-is-behind-email-release/2016/07/24/5b5428e6-51a8-11e6-bbf5-957ad17b4385_story.html

Bwahahahahaha… I thought according to the Dems, Russia DIDN’T hack them because their stuff was secure!

So which is it?

tom swift in reply to Twanger. | July 25, 2016 at 3:54 pm

That’s one reason we can be sure that the Russians had nothing to do with this. They’d never give the show away by admitting that they were reading “secure” communications. And neither would any of the other countries which are just as likely to be reading them; Poland, Israel, Britain, etc.—all old hands at this stuff.

This is either an amateur break-in (maybe some bored guy on a farm in Romania) or an inside leak, like the Climategate e-mails.

RodFC in reply to tom swift. | July 25, 2016 at 6:47 pm

Of course it wasn’t Russians. It was script-kiddies that are upset over Assange and Snowden having to hide from US law enforcement efforts.

This is clearly not the efforts of a intelligence agency.

My husband asked where $500 from back account went. I said #RussianHackers forced me to buy shoes and matching purse.

Looks like Bernie may just play the role of Danton before this is all finished.

What will the FBI charge? Improper handling of proprietary info on digital media? Is there any recent precedent?

Depends on which State the Server happens to be sitting, in to determine the exact charge, but the generic versions are:

    1.) unauthorized access to a computer or computer network;

    2.) accessing a computer system to use, disclose, or copy data residing in, communicated by, or produced by a computer system;

3.)knowingly receiving or retaining data obtained through misuse of computer system information; or

    4. using or disclosing data he or she knows or believes was obtained through misuse of computer system information.

You could also have charges of the old stand-by variety of:

    5.) Criminal Trespass

    6.) Theft (including Fraud)

7.) Identity Theft (depending on the type of hacking)

And remember, this is CONCURRENT criminal charges that can be brought: Federal Charges (as the data most assuredly crossed state lines) and STATE charges.

Hoping to see a white face sometime soon. So far 6-7 opening acts at the DNC Convention have all starred African-American actors. Quite the pandered that HRC!

“We will have ongoing coverage all day of “Dems in Turmoil, Convention Chaos” without a hint of gloating or trolling b/c we’re professoinals”

Thank the Lord somebody is going to be professional around here!

Me? I’m gonna gloat.

I cannot WAIT for the fist fights on the convention floor.

Schadenfreude DELUXE!

That’s a notpology.

TCTH has an execellent image for teir DNC thread. Debbie and Hillary sitting in a car going over a ledge Thelma and Louise like.

You had me at Day One of The Dumpster Fire Kemberlee.

Anyone see the bernie memo left behind in L.A. saying they want a private plane to campaign for hitlery?

I’ve been having a much-needed politics break for a while, but then I saw smoke on the horizon, looked around for the source, and the warm glow of Kemberlee’s dumpster fire drew me in.

This is such fun. Who’s got the popcorn? 😀

Hillary does not have enough delegates from primaries to win. What if the superdelegates change their minds at the last minute and vote Bernie?

This could get very very interesting.

Except, you stupid, lying sack of shit, Cruz hasn’t been in the running for months.

Has he? You stupid, lying sack of shit?
