It’s Twitter Official! Trump Taps Mike Pence as His Running Mate

It’s on Twitter so it must be true.

It’s on Twitter so it must be true. Using his Twitter account, Trump confirmed his selection of Pence as his Vice Presidential candidate Friday morning:

Thursday, rumors that Governor Pence had won the veepstakes were confirmed by various staffers and even RNC folks with the official announcement expected at 11:00 Friday morning. Following the terrorist attack in Nice, France, Trump pushed back his announcement 24-hours, leaving room for speculation that Pence might not be the final choice.

A press conference will be held tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM. Or at least that’s what they’re saying now.

Appropriate that he would sell out in a tweet.

Pence was one of the very few Republicans who opposed the Wall Street Bailout even after the entire political class leaned on them.

Pence also should be better than Trump at communicating with the Midwestern voters who voted against Trump in the primaries. The 2014 conventional wisdom was that the Republicans needed these voters to have a chance against Hillary.

Pence, as I recall, was quite a vocal critic of Trump, as least this is my impression. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Pence doesn’t strike me as a wishy-washy kind of guy. So, to now agree to join the Trump team, seems rather impressive of The Trump and is another indicator, once again, to treat the media hoopla about him with a sceptical eye.

Still, I have no expectations of Trump walking on water.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but Pence doesn’t strike me as a wishy-washy kind of guy.”

He folded like a cheap tent over the RFA for one.

This was gracefully handled. The presser was postponed a day, due to the attack in France, but the tweet went out. So, the news is there, and we’ll talk about it on another day.

I am very happy it’s not Christie. I want Christie as AG to clean out the DoJ like only he can do.

Pence half-assedly endorsed Cruz before the Indiana primary so I guess it’s appropriate he joins Trump who only half-assedly wants to be President.

“What do you think of a Trump-Pence ticket?”

I think Pence will bring the Koch brothers’ money into this election. And that may be the most important thing he brings to the ticket.

WTF would Pence overcome the Collectivism of Der Donald to get ANY Koch money?

When I speak of “Koch brothers’ money”, like many in the media I’m speaking of the Koch brothers’ networks of donors, which to date have refused Trump access or audience.

Alternatively, there are already news reports of Pence being invited to speak at a Koch donor network event at the end of July/early August in Colorado. The Koch brothers themselves may still limit their personal support to GOP Senate candidates, but I’m inclined to believe some network donors (some who have supported Pence in previous elections) will finance him in 2016.
