Amanda Carpenter denies allegations completely

Fighting a vicious smear campaign by Trump supporters.

Amanda Carpenter, former aide to Jim DeMint and Ted Cruz, was one of five women whose barely pixelated images were published by the National Enquirer as allegedly having affairs with Ted Cruz.

Since then, Carpenter has been subjected to a truly insane, vicious Twitter smear campaign attacking her and her family. People have created fake social media accounts in her name and that of her husband.

I’m not going to spread the garbage being spewed against her by Trump supporters, but it fairly is characterized as deliberately deceptive attempts to piece together her Twitter and Instagram photos along with images and video of Cruz in an attempt to “prove” the affair. The claim in a widely shared video compilation purports to show Carpenter wearing Cruz’s suit jacket at a time when Cruz appeared on TV without a jacket — something Carpenter mocked herself in response:

https://twitter.com/amandacarpenter/status/714544438547202048

Trump’s campaign social media director, Dan Scavino, has shared the disreputable video:

https://twitter.com/amandacarpenter/status/714547062243655681

The campaign by Trump supporters against Carpenter has been particularly vicious and widespread, no doubt because she is anti-Trump and published a list of politicians she believes sold out conservatism by backing Trump. Nonetheless, the attacks on her have not been political, but very personal, with overt sexual accusations.

Trump supporters with large Twitter followings also are spreading a short, 20-second clip from the interview below purporting to show Carpenter refusing to deny the allegations. In fact, she has been on record for days denying the allegations, and does so unequivocally in this interview with Jake Tapper.

Nothing surprises me anymore on the internet. Candidates, and sometimes their families, are treated like garbage — and that has been directed at Trump and his family as well.

But the Carpenter case is at a whole other level because she’s not a candidate, just someone whose life and reputation were put at jeopardy by the National Enquirer and Trump supporters.

Can we all agree that Donald Trump is a babbling egomaniac in a $2800 suit with an intellect that maybe a mile wide, but is only an inch deep?

The guy is a clown, a buffoon, devoid of substance, or serious policy solutions to complex national problems.

Trump simply peddles his malignant ideology of ‘trumpianism’ by sticking his thumb in America’s eye, burping out cheap slogans, and demanding he be declared the winner of his wrestling match because he beat down everyone else.

Trumpianism is simply the flipside of Obamanism.

And the trump trash who support him couldn’t explain the difference between a democracy and a republic, and wouldn’t know how to spell ‘federalism’ if you pointed it out in a dictionary. They gorge themselves on this malignant trumpianism ideology till they puke all over the rest of the electorate, then demand we join in with this ‘greatness,’ and throw a cry bully trantrum if you don’t.

Not just ‘No,’ but H3LL NO.

Maybe we “can all agree” that the vicious smears started with the Rubio camp….Trump has been fairly silent on ….responding only when asked.

    Tired of this site…..I’m out.

      Dear Herm2416,

I agree: the anti-Trump fervor is tiring, but I’m not out of this site.

All this criticism of the leading candidate reminds me of Mitt Romney’s hail of bullets (advertisements) against Santorum and Gringrich in 2012. I don’t remember any criticism of Romney for his scorched earth attacks.

And he was such a damp rag during the campaign. Where was he in the final months?? I could not believe anyone would vote for Obama again; I couldn’t not believe Obama would win again, so I wasn’t worried about Romney’s caliber of performance. But for such a “nice” guy to be so vicious to fellow republicans and then do nothing effective against Obama….

      spartan in reply to herm2416. | March 30, 2016 at 11:04 am

Yet, the Rubio campaign remains quiet ….
I will bet if someone told you wolverines would make great pets, you would believe this as well.

As Tapper said in the video, only Team Trump is pushing the smears. As we used to say as kids; the one who smelt it, dealt it.

Please don’t let the door hit you on your way out. I would really hate to see anyone charged with battery on your person.

No, we can not agree on that because it isn’t true. It’s more Trump lies. National Enquirer is part of the Trump campaign and the smears are coming directly from there.

Trump has been fairly silent on ….responding only when asked.

What the **** are you talking about? Trump personally threatened to “spill the beans” on Mrs Cruz, and personally tweeted that disgusting picture. Meanwhile neither Cruz nor anyone who works for him has attacked Mrs Trump in any way. The claim that the Utah ad was from “his PAC” is yet another Trump lie. Trump is the kid with crumbs all over his face who denies that he ate the cookie.

I think it was the Clinton campaign , but Roger Stone is being coy about it:

      http://www.gq.com/story/roger-stone-donald-trump-interview

If I were going to plant the story as a dirty trick, why would I be quoted on the record in same story? I wasn’t born yesterday. Why would I leave a big old thumbprint if I was trying to do something surreptitious? This story, as the actual story says, came from private detectives who were working for a presidential candidate who was not Donald Trump. And I believe that the campaign in question was most likely that of Marco Rubio, based on a lot of published evidence, and the Rubio people, I can confirm personally, were peddling this line to reporters. I think in the end they never got a buyer or they pulled back, and of course his candidacy collapsed so it became moot. Then I think the private detectives may have collected twice on the story.

Now who’s been knmown to hire private detectives?

Yes, Hillaey Clinton. This was leaked to prevent Cruz from becoming vice-president

    legacyrepublican in reply to locomotivebreath1901. | March 30, 2016 at 10:32 am

    The real problem isn’t Trump.

Many of his supporters are really just tired of Republican “civility.” They don’t bother to look at Trump’s underlying politics to find out who he really is. They just want to hear nasty.

It makes sense. I was talking just prior to the Clinton era with a black man from Delaware. He complained to me back then that Republicans didn’t attack each other.

After 20 plus years of niceness and sweetness, they want a real firebrand to stand up for them, even if he is wrong on the issues.

To put it simply, in a debate with Clinton, we need a candidate who won’t be “nice” and “civil” to her. We need someone who will say to her on national television that she is an elitist a*****e who would pawn her own daughter to become president. She will break the law so her personal emails won’t be used to block her rise to power. She will trash the women who sleep with her husband so she can become president. She is a greedy wh**e who sells her speeches for $700k with a wink and a nod to those who paid her that they won’t be forgotten during her presidency.

I firmly believe that Cruz is the man who will best do that.

The art of the deal right now for us Cruzers is to convince the Trumpsters that will happen with Cruz as the nominee.

The art of the deal right now for us Cruzers is to convince the Trumpsters that will happen with Cruz as the nominee.

Any time you want to start would be good. The ceaseless puerile insults of Trump and anyone who suspects that there might be some positive aspects to his campaign obviously haven’t been a roaring success. Only idiots would persist in such a loser strategy. (Oh, sorry, I forgot, Cruzers keep telling us they’re the “smart” ones. Right. Well, start demonstrating it; that would certainly help.)

Super! A denial, so it must be false.

If the same principle applied to Hillary, the FBI would have 147 or so people who could be doing something useful right now.

smfoushee in reply to tom swift. | March 30, 2016 at 1:27 pm

Gee Tom, in Hillary’s case there is a small thing called evidence. In the case of l’affaire Cruz all we have is a story about an allegation from a single anonymous source in which three of the named parties involved have all issued denials. But please, continue with your baseless character assassination.

Milhouse in reply to tom swift. | March 30, 2016 at 3:01 pm

The point is that the Trumpsters are making a big deal of the lack of denial, as if that proved something. Except that there is no lack of denial. They’re making it up just as they make everything up. We still have that Trump moron here who claimed that Cruz said he was “like Jesus only better” or something. He still hasn’t admitted that was a lie.

All it takes is a short trip through some of the pro Trump sites to get a taste of the kind of supporters he has. They are the most viscous group of commenters I have ever seen. They never offer facts but immediately spew hatred, insults and then lies about the other candidates. It is no wonder that any rumor begun by Trump is spread like a wild fire because of the nonthinking zombies who support him. In Trump’s supporters world you are either for him or you are a POS. I can only imagine what it must be like to be a normal working person who gets caught up in the hatred and meanness of these people. Their friends and neighbors are put in the position of wondering what the truth is and these poor victims have to live with that. Can any candidate be worth this much pain?

The commenters you mention I would call “self-selecting.” There are plenty of Trump supporters who never post, and would never fit the bill you describe.

He’s getting millions of votes; the vitriolic post. We have some Cruz supporters here who do the same.

“Our candidate is mental?” No Shinola, Sherlock, some conservatives said this from day one and all we got for it was the alt-Right vomiting forth endless vitriol and profanity and threats.

Oh, what’s that? Trump’s Twitter behavior is “utterly stupid,” Newt? Thanks for noticing; six days ago you were telling the media there was absolutely nothing about Trump that worries you. Maybe your previous comparison of Trump to Reagan was frankly, fundamentally, profoundly wrong from A to Z.

“Trump only cares about Trump”? Gee, thank you, turncoat former insider, for this shocking bit of secret intelligence. News flash, some of us didn’t need to work for Trump for several months to figure that out. We saw it, we said it, and you called us liars for saying it.
—Morning Jolt, NR

Weeeeellll, hell. Some folks are slow on the up-take, huh? But better late to the ball than never, right?

Dishonest Tapper: “Since then, the Trump campaign has pushed the story in various ways.”

All they’ve done us not disown the story and claim it didn’t come from them.

So we’re still blaming Trump for everything even though Rubio’s people had the story? Fascinating.

I have no idea who Cruz slept around with. Nor will I accuse anyone of having slept with Cruz until there is factual evidence.

However, let’s not pretend Ms Carpenter is some disinterested bystander. It’s politics. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen.

OTOH, regarding Cruz: I came to the conclusion a few weeks ago that he is a creepy slimebag. Beck for one, his associations with “kill the fags” preachers, and the rest of his slimy “religious” connections put that arrow right on target.

Do I think he slept around? Yes. I wouldn’t care if he were not running with the bible in one hand…

Trump is hanging slow curves right over the plate, yet blogs and media outlets continue to pursue the click-bait, reality TV, soap opera crap.

At the town hall in Wisconsin, Trump was asked a policy question by a member of the audience: What do you think are the three top responsibilities of the federal government? His answer?

1. National security
2. Health care
3. Education

With this, Trump is 100% in synch with… Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, though Bernie might change the order a bit.

Remember how Romney’s authorship of Romneycare in Massachusetts effectively neutered him on the primary campaign issue of 2012? Trump just neutered the GOP on it again.

Henry Hawkins in reply to Henry Hawkins. | March 30, 2016 at 1:08 pm

Well, Henry, Trump did mitigate this a bit when he added housing as a major responsibility of the federal government, so….

Don’t you see you’re just twisting what he said the wrong way? With Trump one must spin his vagaries in the most positive light, lest one be considered a Cruzbot.

Sarcasm aside, it was great to see Anderson Cooper’s surprise at Trumps statements in that interview.

Trump, October 2015: “I will totally eliminate the Department of Education!”

Trump, March, 2016: “Education is one of the primary functions of the federal government!Top three!”

Henry Hawkins in reply to Henry Hawkins. | March 30, 2016 at 3:57 pm

Town hall with Anderson Cooper, wherein Trump reveals he has no idea what he’s talking about and has to reverse himself seconds after asserting his position. Try to make sense of this, lol:

“In your opinion, what are the top three functions of the United States government?” asked Robert Kitelinger, an Army veteran.

“Well, the greatest function of all by far is security for our nation. I would also say health care, I would also say education,” Trump said. “I mean there are many, many things, but I would say the top three are security, security, security. We have to have security for our country so that we can continue to exist as a country.”

“So, top three, you’re saying, security-” host Anderson Cooper said.

“Security. I would say, I say all top three are security. But, health care, education would be probably three that would be top, and then you can go on from there,” Trump said.

“So in terms of federal government role, you’re saying security, but you also say health care and education should be provided by the federal government,” Cooper said.

“Well those are two of the things, yeah, sure,” Trump said. “There are, I mean there are obviously many things: housing, providing great neighborhoods and safe neighborhoods.”

“Because aren’t you against the federal government’s involvement in education? Don’t you want it to devolve to states?” Cooper said.

“No, I want it to go to states, yeah, absolutely. I want, right now–” Trump said.

“So, that’s not part of what the federal government’s role should be?” Cooper said.

“No, the federal government, but the concept of the country is, is the concept that we have to have education within the country. And we have to get rid of Common Core and it should be brought to the state level,” Trump said.

“And federal health care, run by the federal government?” Cooper said.

“Uh, health care. We need health care for our people. We need a good–Obamacare is a disaster. It’s proven to be–” Trump said.

“But is that something the federal government should be doing?” Cooper said.

“The government can lead it, but it should be privately done. It should be privately done. So that health care, in my opinion, we should probably have–we have to have private health care. We don’t have competition in health care,” Trump said.

          —–

impeach obama | March 30, 2016 at 1:08 pm

After the recent Gawker lawsuit loss, can NE be sued successfully and the principals to the point of shutting down this rag ?

Can Trump also be sued over the malignant statements ?

Zachary in reply to impeach obama. | March 30, 2016 at 1:18 pm

NE knows what it’s doing. They wrote an article about rumors of allegations, which is their specialty. It’s our duty to know that these stories are just crap. But nowadays that’s a tall order.

That’s what John Edwards supporters said.

Has Heidi returned to the campaign trail alone and out from under Cruz and her handlers?

rotten in reply to Zachary. | March 30, 2016 at 2:39 pm

The time interval between the first John Edwards story, reporting on the existence of a rumor, and the confirmation of the mistress’ baby was over a year.

So we might not find out the truth either way for a long time.

Meanwhile, between the time of the first report and the truth, John Edwards was able to basically bury the news and run his normal campaign, by doing essentially the same things Ted Cruz is doing now.

Without the proof, Edward’s supporters didn’t go anywhere.

Don’t expect your boy Cruz to file the lawsuit. You see, he KNOWS what is true and not true.

Milhouse in reply to impeach obama. | March 30, 2016 at 3:21 pm

Nope. NE didn’t claim anything had happened. All it said was that rumours exist, and private detectives are looking into them. That’s not actionable, even by a private figure let alone a public one.

Trump will make America great again even for the ungrateful who hate him. What a swell guy he is!

And the hits just keep on coming….

Incoherent Trump position on abortion:

There must be “some form of punishment” for women who have abortions, Donald Trump said Wednesday afternoon during a pre-taped MSNBC town hall event. Asked by host Chris Matthews whether he believes abortion should be illegal, Trump agreed, noting that to actually ban the procedure, “you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places, but we have to ban it.” Pressed further on whether he believes women would be specifically punished for abortion if it were illegal, Trump said yes, but added that the exact punishment would “have to be determined.” Asked whether men would be held responsible for abortions under the law as well, Trump replied, “I would say no.”

Following outcry over his comments, the Trump campaign issued a statement: “This issue is unclear and should be put back into the states for determination. Like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions, which I have outlined numerous times.”

Naw, no way this will hurt the GOP in the general election. I mean, what else can you do when women get themselves pregnant and need an abortion? Punish the men too? Why? What have they got to do with women getting pregnant? Oh, I’m just like Reagan, btw!

If the guy were smarter I’d accuse him of being a mole for the Democrats for walking blindly right into the Clinton wheelhouse for misogyny, abortion, etc.
