Twitter Kicks out Conservative Author Forever

Twitter Kicks out Conservative Author Forever

Author Robert Stacy McCain enters Twitter Star Chamber

On Saturday morning we posted a brief compilation of recent events suggesting Twitter might be targeting conservatives, Is Twitter Silencing Conservatives?

The impetus Saturday was the suspension of Robert Stacy McCain’s account (@rsmccain).  McCain blogs at TheOtherMcCain.com and last February published a book, Sex Trouble: Essays on Radical Feminism and the War Against Human Nature.

That followed de-verification of Milo Yiannopoulos’s account (@Nero).  Like McCain, Yiannopoulos is a prominent critic of modern feminism and the Gordian Knot of accusations and recriminations known as “Gamergate.”  Oversimplified, Gamergate involves issues about the poor treatment of women in the gaming community.

The unifying factor is, apparently, that both stepped on feminist toes and Twitter seemingly took action against them.

After his personal account was suspended, McCain began tweeting with the account associated with his book (@SexTroubleBook) Friday night or Saturday morning.  In addition, the #FreeStacy hashtag trended briefly.  Some have suggested that Twitter intentionally suppressed #FreeStacy, but that is difficult to corroborate.

Now, @SexTroubleBook has also been suspended:

While some have suggested that the @SexTroubleBook account is a “sock puppet” or alter-ego account that should be banned along with the original @rsmccain account, that doesn’t follow.  McCain published his book a year ago, and the @SexTroubleBook account dates from that period:

McCain confirmed late this afternoon that his original account (@rsmccain) will not be restored.  Twitter says he is banned for “targeted abuse” but has not identified anything more specific.  The fate of the long-standing account promoting his book (@SexTroubleBook) is indeterminate, #FreeStacy: @rsmccain ‘Will Not Be Restored’; @SexTroubleBook Suspended:

Well, what is “targeted abuse,” what constitutes “participating” in this behavior, and what are the “rules around” it? Where is the evidence that I have been “violating the Twitter Rules”? Who was “targeted”? What was the nature of the “abuse”? Questions like this multiply, you see, if we can be permitted to ask questions of the arbiters of “Twitter Rules,” but that’s just it: No questions allowed!

http://theothermccain.com/2016/02/22/freestacy-rsmccain-will-not-be-restored-sextroublebook-suspended/

This raises several issues.  First, somebody at Twitter has apparently taken the time to identify McCain as an individual, link him to his book, and then suspend the book’s account as well.  The implication is that, second, Twitter is attempting to silence McCain, not just the allegedly offending @rsmccain account, and still without any satisfactory explanation for his suspension.

he should create a new account: @niaccmsr, and see how long it takes the fascists to catch on…

Twitter’s MiniTru is going out in force. Adam Baldwin is down to just 1 post. Larry Correia is getting shadowbanned. Guess Twitter is getting what they want, exclusion of bad thought.

Note this all corresponds with Twitter putting arch-feminist Sarkeesian on the board to “advise” on “culture” – she has been a past object of McCain’s reporting, which consists mainly of actually reading feminist writings, quoting them verbatim, and laughing at them.

Bad thought or opposing thought..? I know other sites who also delete comments and accounts if they don’t “agree” with your comments…TED TALKS….!! Unconstitutional…!!

I follow both of them. Agreed on Adam, but I can still see Tweets from Larry even though he can’t. I’m not sure what’s going on there but maybe the trouble is on his end. He is @monsterhunter45 on Twitter if anyone else would like to check.

    For What it’s Worth:

    – I’ve been very active on Twitter for seven years.

    – I have been suspended three times. My acnt was restored each time after the sentence was completed.

    What I have learned:

    – Don’t get into bar fights with liberals on twitter.

    – There are liberal twitter gangs focused on getting conservatives suspended. They do it by gang blocking (which triggers a suspend algorithm) and running to Twitter-Mama complaining.

Knock on wood, I haven’t been suspended since the 2012 election cycle.

In those years conservatives fought back creating the #TGDN hashtag which stands for Twitter Gulag Defense Network. It worked.

The suspend war has cycles which match Federal election cycles starting with 2010.

What is new in 2016 is Twitter going after high profile users.

Congress has passed no law abridging the freedom of speech, so Twitter can do whatev. Not a smart move on their part, but their platform. Let the chips fall where they may. Twitter is hardly an essential tool. Let righteous indignation rain down on them; maybe they’ll be shamed into doing the right thing (doubtful, given the makeup of their Committee of Speech Cops). Stacy’s stuff gets plenty of play in the blogosphere.

Twitter stock is tanking mightily, down nearly 70% in past year. While the perpetrators may have golden parachutes – and Twitter execs are abandoning ship in droves right now – there is always the likelihood of a shareholders’ lawsuit.

Which would open up the specter of disovery. Pass the popcorn.

The shareholders have a right to expect the company to be run for the purpose of making a monetary profit, not a political statement.

I agree that no one else’s rights have been violated.

Rush Limbaugh once said that these media companies (think MSNBC) would drive their businesses into the ground rather than give up their progressive bias. Once again, he is right.

It was OK for terrorists to use twitter as a communication device (and they probably continue to do that in code) but Twitter must become PC! RIGHT!

Seem to me that attacking is the name of the game on that stupid social channel. If it ceases to entertain users, it goes bye bye like Myspace.

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio,
The nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
What’s that you say, Norma Jeane? Yes
Joltin’ Joe has left and gone away.

Don’t be a twit. Don’t use twitter.

I just deactivated my account which as been active less than three months. Sent a final tweet as to why.

JimMtnViewCaUSA | February 22, 2016 at 6:39 pm

I have a rarely used Twit acct. Other than tweeting #FreeStacy, is there any useful action to take for us “retail” users?

I don’t see a method to separate from Twitter.
Is this like Facebook, where once you join they own every byte of data you’ve ever posted even if the acct goes dormant?

Don’t use it. Won’t use it. Anything with the word twit in it just didn’t grab me. Know what I mean.

Never used it because it seemed to encourage a one penmanship that was really a race to the bottom. Exhibit One: Curt Schilling’s tweet about his daughter’s college scholarship which quickly became a cyber gang rape.

BDS Twitter.

A multi-level response is needed.

1) stop using TWITTER in any form, cancelling accounts. This hits them in their revenue, pushing them out faster, because TWITTER members are in reality the product they are selling to advertisers, both as eyeballs for ads and as personal information sold to anyone, including various governments.

2) search for an explicitly non-Leftist alternative and/or support one that comes up.

3) create accurate memes to damage their reputation: “man-hating feminist TWITTER”, “Socialist TWITTER”, “Thought-Police TWITTER”, etc.

Subotai Bahadur

Ace of Spades HQ ( http://ace.mu.nu/ ) has dumped Twitter.

my question then is why don’t people challenge their patent? It iw way to vague to stand up in court.

Apparently there is a decentralized alternative to Twitter that uses the Ostatus protocol (https://gnu.io/social/), and is decentralized like e-mail is. You can communicate with the entire network regardless of which server you use, much like with e-mail.

Concervatives & libertarians should set up their own servers.

Too bad Twiiter doesn’t have serious competition. They would be compelled to use more caution in these situations.

Oh, and remember:

Once is an incident.

Twice is coincidence.

Three (or more) times is enemy action.

Considering that Twitter appointed Anita Sarkeesian to their Trust & Safety council. Undoubtedly Stacy got on some SJW’s radar and got reported for not supporting the correct ideology.

Yay! Zuckerberg and Twitterberg are the closest things to Nazis and they don’t even know it. It’s wonderful how Progressives continually regress us in a terrible regression.
Liberty is a rare thing for a reason, people!
Someone always wants yours:((

Don’t be a twit; quit twitter.

As others have said…very simple: I notified my followers yesterday (all 24 of them) and am closing my twitter account today.

All conservatives and those who don’t like ideologically oriented censorship should do so. If the power’s-that-be at twitter won’t let those whom they oppose politically freely express their opinions anyway, what’s the point for us? We say we need twitter because otherwise people won’t be exposed to alternative ideas, but if twitter refuses to let those alternative ideas get out anyway, there is no incentive.

I’m sure that Twitter shareholders and advertisers are not happy about the oppressive First Amendment violations of Twitter corporate…!! I see “dust in the wind” on the horizon for Twitter.!! It can’t come soon enough for me..!!

great unknown | February 22, 2016 at 6:12 mentioned that “Twitter stock is tanking mightily, down nearly 70% in past year.”
Here’s a link “Why Twitter’s Politics Ultimately Doesn’t Matter ”
http://captaincapitalism.blogspot.co.il/2016/02/why-twitters-politics-ultimately-doesnt.html

“Twitter is not going to exist much longer.

The cold hard truth is that Twitter is not financially viable. It’s bankrupt, it’s insolvent, and unless they start making some killer profit in the next 6 months they are either going to have to file for bankruptcy or find a VERY charitable investor …”

[sarcasm]

I predict that with Twitter stock tanking and Facebook going downhill, Google will soon be purchasing both and combining them with the still-successful (so far) YouTube platform.

Check it out: YouTwitFace [dot] com

Does anyone else find it amusing that after saying, “Your account will not be restored”, Twitter says “Thanks”?

Suggested excerpts from the Bay Area entrepreneurial operations manual:

1. When in doubt, hate speech is speech that does not conform to our enlightened sense of propriety and justice.

2. Due process is for people who agree with us.

3. We are to only imply that all will be treated fairly here. We are a private enterprise and we do not owe any of our users an explanation.

4. After we’ve trained the world to rely on us for instant info, we’ll deftly silence effective dissent we didn’t like anyway. The overwhelming A.D.D. in our user pool means that no protests will gain a critical mass.
