Carly Fiorina: Conservatives Should Reclaim Feminism

“The progressive view of feminism is not about women.”

Carly Fiorina sat in the “Center Seat” Thursday night on Special Report with Bret Baier. They ought to call the segment the “Hot Seat” as it offers viewers and the pundits on the panel a chance to ask the candidate tough questions in a close setting.

Fiorina took questions about herself, her career, the campaign and a host of other issues every candidate is facing for 2016. Topics include jobs, healthcare, government surveillance, foreign policy, and reclaiming feminism.

It’s worth pointing out that Fiorina took more questions in this 17 minute segment than Hillary Clinton has taken in the last two months.

If you watched the video to the end, you heard Fiorina talk about the left’s monopoly on the term “feminism” and its meaning. She gave a speech Thursday night where she expanded on this point.

The IJ Review has more on that:

Carly Fiorina Wants to Reclaim ‘Feminist’ — And She’s Got a Definition Deeply Rooted in Her Faith

Is it possible for the politics of feminism to transcend faith and liberal policies? Carly Fiorina seems to think so.

The 2016 Republican presidential candidate and former Fortune 50 CEO addressed the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a think tank promoting limited market regulations, on Thursday about the role of women in the U.S. under the Obama administration.

Her main dispute with feminism is its liberal implications:

“The progressive view of feminism is not about women. It is about ideology. And their policies are not working for women.”

Fiorina criticized government’s “webs of dependence” for wrapping around women, specifically single mothers, through welfare assistance. She noted that California, which she says has been under liberal policy for decades, has one of the highest poverty rates in the country, “with over 3 million women living below the poverty line.”

The term “feminism” has no set meaning, consistent with the post-modernism in which it is currently immersed.

Most women who identify with the term would be appalled to understand what its current vanguard holds it to mean.

To early feminists, it meant empowerment, equality under the law, and opportunities. It certainly allowed for a healthy relationship with a well-adjusted masculine critter of the same species, along with happily propagating that species.

Now, current wave feminists mean it to mean Marxism, a glowing, seething hatred of all things masculine, mental issues trending toward insanity, and basic, fundamental misanthropy.

Depends upon what you mean by “early feminists” when you speak of those noble and limited goals. If you mean “19th Century,” it is accurate to say that. But already by the early 20th Century it was about social control of others. The entire Prohibition movement was pushed by the women’s rights groups (although it took a man to get the accursed Amendment passed), and Margaret Sanger was putting forth her eugenics theories to control the “inferior populations’ growth.”

And by the ’50s and ’60s, it was well on the way to being a fully committed Marxist and anti-male movement, with a disproportionate number of lesbian leaders. Read Stacy “The Other” McCain’s recent book on the subject, his documentation and indictment of every major work of feminism by every major name is withering and meticulous. Today’s real feminists are man-hating crazies.

Yep, spot on. I started working in earnest in 1967 – read all the feminist drivel and was a card-carrying man hater for several years. On a dare from a boyfriend (go figure) I listened to Rush Limbaugh for a month. It made me question everything I was about and opened my mind to other possibilities. Needless to say I made the transition from feminist to thinking human!

    And Lesbianism.

    Don’t forget the Lesbianism.

If feminism remains to be about equal outcomes, it will remain to be a Leftist movement. If becomes what it should have always been about – liberty, recognizing the responsibilities of liberty, and equal opportunity – it isn’t beholden to political ideology. Yes, I’m referring to the bedrock position the Left says is at the core of feminism, that feminism equals being pro-abortion. It’s rather ironic that feminism, in demanding equal outcomes, deny equal outcome of the unborn being born.

Finally caught her in a TV interview and I must say she has some dazzling off-the-cuff speaking ability.

In a debate she would tear Hillary to shreds.

They were trying to ask her tough questions, but never laid a hand on her. She never even batted an eye, the answers were immediate and comprehensive for the time allotted. Very impressive.

As the Instapundit says, I like this woman. She fights.

Not sure she’s the next president, but the Pub administration needs to put Ms. Fiorina in a prominent position.

From what I see and know of her I like Carly. Her looks, voice, and rhetoric are infinitely easier on my eyes, ears, and mind than what sHrillary delivers. I’d like to see her in the ‘Ican Top 10 for the initial Fox News debate.

If the modern Feminazis were campaigning for the vote, they would have alienated everyone that matters. They would be have been turned away at every door, instead of just the DemocRAT power brokers that fought the women’s vote in the first place. At least the women that did win the vote, were sane enough to harness their arguments with facts, instead of the insane screeching that the male is the cause of their problems.

Treat women and men equally, with some self-evident exceptions for our physiological differences. Normalize or promote this equality and relationship.

It’s just Her Hillaryness that would get torn to shreds. Carly Fiorina has stood up to men in the take no prisoner boardroom.

She won.

The left will make her out to be the reincarnation of Sarah Palin. We all know how much they hate her.

She has Sarah’s moxie with a ton more world experience. Wouldn’t you just love to see Fiorina interviewed by Katie Couric? Bring it.

Like her or not, and it’s early days, she’s setting a high bar for answering questions. She has positions and opinions and is unafraid to state them, unwilling to hedge because she may offend someone or lose a vote.

Some may argue this was a sympathetic panel but all, panel and guest, stayed on topic. The one time she wandered off into NYT-Clinton Land, Baier cut her off and brought her right back on topic. I’d like to see her do similar gigs with the MSNBC, CNN, and MSM crowd. She’d embarrass them.

The campaign and country need her.

She’s confident and certain about her beliefs. No hemming and hawing – just direct and clear responses. She reminds me of Newt Gingrich in that regard.

She impresses me the more I hear her speak.

Fiorina took questions about herself, her career, the campaign and a host of other issues every candidate is facing for 2016.

Every candidate is facing?

Oh, you must mean every Republican candidate!

She gets it.

But what was is so hard?

That was impressive!

And it sure was a “Hot” seat indeed, she didn’t get softballed at all. Rapid-fire tough questions, answered with gusto and verve!

I would pay money to see her in a face-to-face debate with Hitlery, but it wouldn’t be a fair fight. It would be wonderful to watch though!

Surely a ‘hot seat’ interview and her responses were great.

I’m more impressed with Mrs./Ms. Fiorina every time I hear her.

She’s spot ON regarding ‘feminism’. I want abortions reduced to rare so I’m anti killing abortions yet that doesn’t jibe with Leftist ‘kill them at all costs’ ideology.

B.S. The right and Carly’s ideas of ‘feminism’ are correct.
