Joni Ernst “as good looking as Taylor Swift” says Tom Harkin
Shake it off, Joni, shake it off
Outgoing Democratic Iowa Senator Harkin made some shall we say, “interesting” remarks about Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst.
“Joni Ernst, she’s really attractive and she sounds nice. I don’t care if she’s as good looking as Taylor Swift or as nice as Mr. Rodgers, but if she votes like Michelle Bachmann, she’s wrong for the state of Iowa.”
Ernst was not impressed by Harkin’s apparent crush on her saying, “I was very offended that Senator Harking would say that. I think it’s unfortunate that he and many in their party believe that you can’t be a real woman if you’re Conservative and you’re female. Again, I am greatly offended about that.”
Was the late disclosure of the Harkin comments a dirty trick?
Harkin made the Ernst gaffe on 10/26; by releasing it yesterday trackers ensure Braley will be asked on camera, ruining final day message.

Ernst is currently polling ahead of Democratic challenger, Bruce Braley by just over a point, according to the Real Clear Politics average.

I sure hope so! It would mean that maybe, just maybe, conservatives are learning how to win.
This lady has bigger cojones than any man in Washington.

Drudge followed the “Ernst is too good looking” gaffe by noting right below that Michelle Nunn is losing ground in Georgia. The contrast was surely not a mistake.
Looks like it’s actually 7 points. (I saw this on Drudge over the weekend, too.)
Am I the only one who thinks she should not have responded head on? Why couldn’t she just say something like, I just talked to Taylor and she said she’s flattered to be compared to me?
Oh that’s right – Joni’s campaign is being run by former Romney 2012 campaign peeps. Only a thimbleful of imagination was sprinkled over all of them.
