Religion among people I know who are devout is an influence the animates them, and informs their conduct and thought.

That ain’t “dead”, but the opposite. And maybe you know some brands of religion that demand one be nothing (maybe Buddhism), but I don’t. Christianity in the plain old garden variety sure doesn’t. Quite the opposite. But, hey, you may know more about being nothing than I do. I just limit myself to knowing what words mean, generally.

Jews have the legal right to settle and live in any land between the Jordan river and Mediterranean per the League of Nations “Mandate for Palestine” 4/24/1920 and affirmed by Article 80 of UN. “Palestine” being only a geographical name to the area upon the collapse of the Ottoman Empire post WWI.

“Palestinian” as applied to Arabs in the area is of recent usage – as coined by Egyptian terrorist Arafat.

The Sabeel Centre is a prime example. They promote a “replacement theology” in which Christians should not only cut away their Jewish roots but also join with Muslims in doing so. They believe that Christians and Muslims have more in common than either group does with Jews — a notion that’s strange in view of the kinds of societies that Muslims build around the world, and the fact that most Westerners would probably be more comfortable in Israel, and the large role of Jews in building Western science and culture. Curiously, that notion does have a bit of truth if you consider a historical propensity to coerce conversion, though Christians haven’t been doing that for some centuries (and Muslims surpass them in this respect).

Among Christian clergy in the U.S. and Europe, the old anti-Jewish hostility has reemerged as hostility to Israel, packaged as compassion for “Palestinians,” Muslim and Christian. It’s a deplorable situation when self-professed Christians are so hostile to Jews that they take the side of Islamic totalitarianism, with its very long record of brutal aggression.

In the Islamic way of thinking, if you’re not in their club, you do not deserve basic human respect, and killing you is not really a crime.

If that’s the case, all you have to do is read some history outside of your Hamas pamphlet collection.

In 1988, Hamas agreed to engage in an advertising campaign to convince Muslims that they have an individual and religious duty to kill every Jew on the face of the earth, and re-conquer every square inch of land ever held by a “Muslim” regime.
