Just Breaking News only to Thad Cochran: Eric Cantor lost (#MSSEN)

The lights are on, but is anybody home?

The Mississippi Republican Senate primary is just one bizarre event after another.

The nursing home photo shoot, the late night courthouse lock-in, and now two really, really bizarre statements by Thad Cochran.

First, he joked (or was it a joke?) about doing indecent acts to animals as a kid.  Mark Levin questioned whether Cochran was “all there”:

Second, Cochran was interviewed and was unaware that Eric Cantor lost. The interview was published today but apparently took place Thursday:

From his responses, it is questionable whether he knew who Eric Cantor was. It’s strange because on Wednesday he seemed to know about the loss:

Memory loss? Baffled by the question? Only responding to what was asked?

The lights are on in #MSSEN, but is anybody home?

Time a-go, Thad. Home, that is…

Strictly addressing this exchange,it’s obvious to me that he’s just stonewalling what he views as a hostile question or uncomfortable topic. Cochran is saying it’s no big deal, haven’t worried about it, next question. Maybe it’s a Southern thing; I’ve known plenty of good old boys who use this type of response; ometimes humorously, sometimes as a passive-aggressive way to respond to someone trying to get a rise out of them. Suggesting that this clip alone makes the guy out to be senile shows a lack of comprehension, not political savvy.

He only cares about his campaign. Why should HE, a senator, care about a pedestrian congressman anyway. There are only 100 senators and too many congressmen to bother with knowing.

As Majority Leader this is Congressman you would expect a serious Senator to deal with very frequently.

…and the GOPe are always claiming that it’s the *Tea Party* who back whacko candidates? Really?

I can understand playing dumb about the Cantor loss because he doesn’t want to discuss it. But making a joke about doing indecent things with animals is just bizarre. What the heck does that even mean? Who is he trying to establish a connection to with that comment? Is he campaigning for the sociopath vote?

Catchy slogan: Vote for me cuz I like doing indecent things to animals.

Well if you were a Democrat, maybe…

    The Dahmer vote.

Here Cochran is speaking to his constituents, and they get the reference. It’s a joke, almost a throat clearing similar to saying “boy are my arms tired from that flight”. In MS and touch of the rural south, it’s just a way of saying he grew up just like the folks in the audience did- messing with the animals, cow tipping, rodeo with the goats. No cruelty, no weirdness- unless you’re an urban media drone with an agenda. I don’t know Cochran’ s record or affiliations, but this kind of character assassination is on its face just bullshit. Come up with something of substance line support for amnesty, I’ll join the crucify him crowd. But this kind of attack is full on BS and is the kind of distortion the MS media and left seem to have perfected.

Another long term politician who runs over and over because he likes the princely feeling he gets. Remember, being a member of Congress is one of the best and cushiest jobs there are. They love it. Unless a scandal catches up to a member, they rarely just quit.

What kind of person is McConnell that his lust to retain power is so great that he would abuse this old man?

Not agreeing with McConnell’s politics is one thing but I have absolutely zero respect left for him as a person.

Hasn’t this feeble old man done enough?

What a disgrace! How low the corrupt crony capitalist Bush wing of the GOP has sunk.

Cochran’s assistant is probably nothing more than his baby sitter. This is probably why Cochran refused to debate McDaniel. He is not capable of it.

“Indecent acts with animals” is MS legerdemain for “I’m scared to death.”

I read today that Bloomberg is planning on helping Thad. If true, vote for his opponent.

A Democrat cause du jour: bestiality. I’s about equal protection, or something. The ACLU should drop its selective support for dysfunctional behaviors, and argue for universal normalization. With their support for abortion/murder (i.e. “choice”), there is virtually nothing which they can legitimately reject.
