Jonah Goldberg – There’s Almost No Evidence Obama Wants Compromise with the GOP

Yesterday on FOX News, Jonah Goldberg of National Review pointed out that Obama has no political interest in working with Republicans on a budget.

Obama has reduced the issue to elementary school taunts by calling the House Republican budget a meanwich and stinkburger.

Jonah Goldberg hilariously points out in the video below…

Not since Thomas Jefferson accused John Adams of being a poopie-head have we heard such grade A material from a president.

Obama’s reluctance to work with Republicans goes all the way back to the beginning of his presidency. Here’s a 2009 flashback from The Wall Street Journal…

Obama to GOP: ‘I Won’

The top congressional leaders from both parties gathered at the White House for a working discussion over the shape and size of President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan. The meeting was designed to promote bipartisanship.

But Obama showed that in an ideological debate, he’s not averse to using a jab.

Challenged by one Republican senator over the contents of the package, the new president, according to participants, replied: “I won.”

Obama ran on “change” but that’s something he will never ever do.

To Obama, ‘compromise’ means ‘you give me everything I want’.

He has not once negotiated with Republicans. All he does is make demands and then whine to the press about the horrible obstructionist Republicans.

Minor expansion: To Obama compromise means, “You give me everything I want, and in return I won’t take everything you have.”

I do agree. All he’s done is make demands and then throw the Republicans through the wringer of the press and social media. It does little to foster a trusting or productive working environment.

He’s an ideologue… Of course he won’t compromise.

Any republican who works with democrats at this point is just giving it away.

Did we need Jonah Goldberg to tell us this? In fact, Jonah is wrong. It’s not “almost”; it’s “absolutely”.

Six years after Obama came on the scene and stuck his hand in Dubya’s face at the inauguration, Jonah Goldberg is now figuring out that Obama is not into compromise.

Slow learner.

    My thoughts, exactly!

Goldberg’s sophomoric clowning about Star Trek made a bad impression on me when he started at National Review. Iirc they had to bring in Lopez to provide adult supervision.

Goldberg has done almost nothing to counteract that early impression. At this point I usually skip his byline.

I used to read NRO. Then, I noticed their arrogance. You can’t tell them anything; they’re too bright, doncherknow! Then, I noticed their decreasing Consevatism. Then, I quit reading them.

Obama is constantly saying he’ll work with anyone on either side of the isle, when in fact he has not worked at all with anyone from the GOP. He makes it sound like he’s the one who is open to any suggestions or better ideas when in fact it’s his way or the highway. This is a very telling trait of someone who has had it very easy in life by always being catered to.

A classic Collectivist who absorbed Alinsky, Obama really does not comprehend “compromise”.

To these people, when you compromise on any given issue, all that happened was the ratchet clicked for them. Now they begin the next pressure tactic.

They are not interested in “tolerance”. For a really clear demonstration see…

Very well said. Compromise is a sign of weakness that will next be exploited. A very precarious situation to encounter.

‘Obama ran on “change” but that’s something he will never ever do.’

Au contraire. He’s brought change galore. He’s made the government more partisan, more secretive, more duplicitous, more corrupt, more tyrannical.

He’s a non-reader. He does not even bother to know what the proposals are.

That’s not the only thing he hasn’t read. That list would be too long to produce here, so here’s what he has read–we know cuz he’s taught them–The Communist Manifesto; Rules for Radicals.

We shouldn’t get over-analytical about this guy. He’s just a piece of trash. Unfortunately, he has power.

Actually I believe Valerie Jarrett and Michelle have all the power. Barack is just the front man who can read a teleprompter really good. Without a teleprompter he sounds clueless.

Jonah Goldberg: “Not since Thomas Jefferson accused John Adams of being a poopie-head have we heard such grade A material from a president.”

NYT Spin: Leading conservative admits Obama is in the same league as one of America’s foremost founding fathers.

Goldberg and many other conservative pundits, are resurfacing all of Obama’s Greatest Scandal hits in advance of November 2014. Expect to hear about Obama failures Porkulus, Fast & Furious, Obamacare of course, Cash For Clunkers, GM bailout, IRS targeting, AP/journalist bullying, etc. It’s a good thing.

Obama is an incompetent, surrounded by incompetents, such as his sec of state kerry. Unbelievable that Kerry thought he could be the messiah of the middle east, but only now is realizing that there won’t be peace because the Palestinian leadership, or whoever is pulling their strings (Iran etc.), doesn’t want peace.

Obama is so stupid and incompetent he never learned that you don’t gratuitously try to insult your political opponents just because “I won” because you often times need their cooperation even if you “won.”

What a complete boob.

during the ‘shutdown” crap he refused to do the only thing they asked for, gop caved, months later obama did the very thing they had wanted anyways to protect himself.
he has no need to compromise, the surrender monkeys always surrender so why should he?

Another problem: the GOP leadership won’t stand up for the People of the US.
Got an email from Club for Growth today. The House Repub leadership pushed through the annual “doc-fix” Medicare bill without a roll call vote. Snips from the letter:

Not only was the bill bad economic policy – but it violated the trust that the Republican conference is supposed to have with the Republican leadership. Sneaking a bill past your own colleagues is downright unconscionable.

Congressman Tom Massie “GOP staff was on the floor and celebrated as the vote was called.

“The staff were giddy, almost like they shot off a firework and ran and got away with it,” he said. “It made me feel sick.””

Another recent example is when House Majority Leader Eric Cantor went around Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling in order to pass a bill to increase taxpayer-backed subsidies for flood insurance.
And who did Cantor negotiate with instead of Hensarling?
Liberal California Democrat Maxine Waters…

what an embarrassment this idiot is. all i can do is shake my head at the thought that this country elected such an incompetent douchebag, twice.

Obama was elected twice relying upon black Americans’ pride to turn them out, and it worked.

If I were black, I would be embarrassed by him now. He’s throwing out schoolyard taunts. He’s taking credit for what will eventually be proven a huge failure. Obama is a joke, a clown. All he excels at is taking vacations and playing golf rounds (number, not quality), both of which he has already set the records for.
