North Korean execution by dog?

North Korean execution by dog?

Reports sound too gruesome to be true, but in North Korea, anything is possible.

When I saw this circulating on Twitter, I thought it had to be a hoax. And it still might be.

But it’s being fairly widely reported, with a Singaporean newspaper the primary English language source.

Via The Strait Times, Jang’s execution bodes ill for China:

THE execution of Jang Song Thaek, the No. 2 man in North Korea, took Beijing by surprise and will adversely affect bilateral relations.

Beijing’s displeasure is expressed through the publication of a detailed account of Jang’s brutal execution in Wen Wei Po, its official mouthpiece, in Hong Kong, on Dec 12.

According to the report, unlike previous executions of political prisoners which were carried out by firing squads with machine guns, Jang was stripped naked and thrown into a cage, along with his five closest aides. Then 120 hounds, starved for three days, were allowed to prey on them until they were completely eaten up. This is called “quan jue”, or execution by dogs.

The report said the entire process lasted for an hour, with Mr Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader in North Korea, supervising it along with 300 senior officials.

The horrifying report vividly depicted the brutality of the young North Korean leader. The fact that it appeared in a Beijing- controlled newspaper showed that China no longer cares about its relations with the Kim regime.

Here’s the official announcement of the uncle’s arrest with video of him being arrested:

Update: Too bad to be true? No, Kim Jong Un probably didn’t feed his uncle to 120 hungry dogs:

Still, the thing about this story and so many others like it from North Korea is that there is a chance, however remote, that it could still be true. Yes, there is an awful lot of evidence suggesting it’s probably false, but this being North Korea, there are also some reasons to allow for its plausibility.

Can’t wait to hear the reaction from the PETA folks.

PETA’s reaction? Oh, that’s easy. Since this involved the devouring of humans by animals, and not the other way around, they have no problem with it.

After that, the only thing we can do is start talks with North Korea without preconditions! John Kerry, please call your office!

Bahhh! Just another “dog bites man” story.

The Execution was followed by a BBQ in which the dogs were roasted and fed to the rest of the staff until the bones were picked clean. Attendance mandatory; no regrets accepted.

Wonder what Kim’s BFF Dennis Rodman has to say about it.

Rodman’s NBA nickname was ‘The Worm’. There’s a joke in there somewhere…….

“A regime so vicious that even Chinese communists are disgusted.”

That’s an update on the old joke “North Korea: so evil that even some progressives suspect there’s something wrong.”

You guys joke, but if this true, it was a deliberate step intended to terrify all the upper level family and staff, so as to consolidate a dictator’s power.

In a Machiavellian sense, one can admire the efficiency: a very narrow group of people has been selected, marked as treasonous (so as to provide a veneer of justice) and then made into an indelible example. Hitler tried to kill off an entire segment of the population, not to mention “sacrificing” much of his general staff. Stalin just let the Germans kill a quarter of the population (nearly all the able-bodied men). Saddam Hussein killed what? a tenth or so?

I’ll bet Kim Jung Un just bough more years in power than Hitler, and maybe as many as Hussein or Stalin.

Excellent point, and don’t forget Cambodia as another example where “Progressives” consolidated power with terror.

The French Revolution had some episodes. I’ve read that enemies of the state were herded below decks of specially constructed ships, which were submerged to drown the victims. Then raised back up to accommodate the next batch of prisoners.

One’s mind hearkens back to LI’s story on the frivolous feminist who protested the oppression of “armpit hair”. US Progs have no historical perspective.

I understand your point, but I very much doubt that anyone in NK, including ruling family members, needed anything to make them any more terrified.

Kim Jung Un – I’d hate to be this monkey’s uncle.

This man — very young man, actually — is moving rapidly to consolidate power. His grandfather was (and probably still is)regarded as divine by the Norks; his father earned a little of that fear and awe because he succeeded Kim Il Sung. But this young man is pushing with all due speed to take his place in the pantheon as soon as he can. One wonders if he is not moving too fast. He obviously doesn’t think so, but then he was raised for a fair part of his life outside the country. Reminds me of another world leader who is pushing to consolidate power and was raised outside his country.

My question is whether it is him or his handlers, some NK version of Valerie Jarrett, pulling the strings.

Yeah? Well, we’ve got a dog-eating, President!

America! F*ck Yeah!

Don’t know what position if any the uncle occupied, but if he was anything like most dictators relatives he’s had more than a few atrocities carried out on his behalf.
If so, justice served as far as I’m concerned.
Recount the reports of Saddam and his kids and family and I tend to not worry how badly dictators earn their final reward.

Speakng of boy presidents, the left is preparing a distraction for the boy-president in our own country. Suddenly, North Korea is not the paradise told to us by the likes of Madeline Albright.

They’re like ants. they all look the same (except for specialist units) they all dress the same, they all act the same.

Kim jong un is the fat queen. Being tended by a cadre of worker and warrior units.

Human beings as hive people. The common people are fed on by those higher up the power structure.

It is artificial and a wholely owned subsidiary of China Ltd.

Don’t think for one minute that Kimmy boy doesn’t do one thing that isn’t approved by Bei jing. If it appeared in a Chinese newspaper, there was a political reason for that. Either to shock the west (which it did) or to shock it’s own Units.

And btw, that’s what Liberals DREAM OF in their inner hearts. Fully expecting themselves to be one of the inner circle. See Tom Friedman, David Brooks etc. etc.

Someone needs to close an italics tag.

still slanty?

Baby Kimmy does ALL Communists proud. Lenin’s grinning with pleasure. Stalin is green with envy. Yezhov wishes he could’da done that. Pol Pot is joyful. Castro is ecstatic. Che is belly laughing….
