Funding for National Park Service approved

As of this writing, the House is debating the “Research for Lifesaving Cures Act” meant to restore funding to the National Institutes of Health, including to continue the child cancer clinical trials. That debate is over, voting later. Now debating National Parks funding.

Obama has threatened to veto the measure. Harry Reid stammered when asked by reporters why Democrats were against it.

The vote should take place soon.

Children are only props for Democrats: abortion, guns, education….not once have they legislated or regulated anything in American life with safety or security of children in mind.

Why would Democrats, even those Senators like Udall and McCaskill who are up for re-election in 2014, want to go-along-to-get-political points and deny children and sick adults access to health care? Because racist!!

It’s all about optics, not principle; otherwise the Senate wouldv’e produced a budget in June when the law demanded it.

They especially like the dead children, when they can get them.

Their old song-and-dance sounds so much better to them when they have tiny coffins to tap dance on

Harry Reid is against “Cherry Picked” funding from the house because it exposes the rank hypocrisy of the Democrats.

Lest they forget, I’ll remind them: The House, a duly ELECTED body of representatives, holds the power to ORIGINATE Revenue and Spending bills.

Elections have consequences, don’t they?

And people need to count the numbers of warm bodies in the House versus in the Senate. To keep saying “it’s just a small faction in the House” overlooks how many individuals that is who are more recently elected and who directly are representing their constituency — the people in their districts, whereas the Senators typically are more distant, politically entrenched, disconnected politicians representing their states.

The House of Representatives was designed by the founders of this country to do exactly what it now is doing.

“Cherry picked” I believe they already did that by giving exemptions to big business and themselves for goodness sake the” pot calling the kettle black” it is ridiculous!

Kids with cancer are a bargaining chip.

Besides, if the execrable Harry Reid allows the GOP to fund only the parts of government that people care about he’ll be in worse shape than he is now. Scare headlines about the strategic earwax reserve might not get the plebs sufficiently riled.

Harry should take a lesson from the radical Islamists that always keep a dead baby in the trunk, to carry into every bombing scene for the photo op. Reid could have held up a suffering child, to demonstrate that evil Republicans were withholding treatment.

Then of course Harry would declare that he had to vote against “saving even one child”, because they had to teach Republicans that they must submit completely, no negotiating with an elected branch of government, or Democrats will be forced to make children suffer and die.

Who again is holding whom hostage?

[…] with passage of funding bills Obama has threatened to veto, the House of Representatives should convene in Arkansas, North Carolina, Louisiana, and Alaska. […]

“House approves funding for National Institutes of Health – 170 Democrats vote against”

Unbelievable!

While seeing Democrats vote against this is disgusting, the Democrats and this Administration are intentionally placing us in danger. HR 3210 was signed by the President on 9/30/13, before the shutdown. It provides for continuing appropriation for the military and DoD. The language is the same as previous CRs. However, this time, Sec. Hagel has interpreted this particular CR to only apply to active military and has furloughed all civilian DoD employees. Since much of our intelligence and tactical information is performed by these civilian DoD employees, this action has placed our nation in danger. This CR has also placed our full-time National Guardsmen on furlough. No guardsmen to guard our borders, make emergency preparations for hurricanes (one may hit the US this weekend), etc.

This interpretation is contrary to previous interpretations of the same language and is contrary to the intent of Congress. To have Congress appropriate money for our military and DoD and to have this administration interpret that legislation in a manner to actually hinder our safety is and should be an impeachable offense.

The stories about shutting down National Parks and the NIH are appalling, but this action truly endangers American and the administration should be called out on it.

It is obvious – and has been for close to a month – that Obama and Reid are convinced a shutdown helps them politically. That’s why they won’t negotiate.

But the particular claim they are against “piecemeal” or “cherry picked” budget bills is as bad as Obama claiming he has “bent over backwards for Republicans” – the normal order of business is that THIRTEEN separate appropriations bills are passed by House and Senate and signed by the President. So far from unusual, “piecemeal” spending bills are in fact the norm

Reid was asked about passing the narrow bill to allow continued treatment of kids with cancer. His reply: “Why would we want to do that? .. . I’ve got 1500 on furlough at the airport.”

That’s where these people are coming from.

Want to fight back? Declare we will NOT support back pay for furloughed workers after X day.
