Remembering the Baltic Way human chain for freedom

Remembering the Baltic Way human chain for freedom

A history not taught in school and our children will never know

On this day in 1989, the Baltic Way took place. People in the Baltic Republics of the Soviet Union (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) formed a human chain stretching for hundreds of miles:

… on 23 August 1989, the three nations living by the Baltic Sea surprised the world by taking hold of each other’s hands and jointly demanding recognition of the secret clauses in the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and the re-establishment of the independence of the Baltic States. More than a million people joined hands to create a 600 km long human chain from the foot of Toompea in Tallinn to the foot of the Gediminas Tower in Vilnius, crossing Riga and the River Daugava on its way, creating a synergy in the drive for freedom that united the three countries.

Inspiring! And I did not know of this. What brave people.

while millions have died under brutal oppression, now millions whine for more free stuff.

It strikes me now, that this is Obama’s place in history … during the richest place in history for the poorest, Obama promises to destroy the “brutal oppression” of capitalism by paying “the poor” more to be on welfare than the working class makes.

Obama … bravely setting man free from the need to do anything but sign up for welfare. At least till he destroys capitalism and we go back to brutal oppression. Because gosh darn it, life has been too damn easy, and Obama is going to fix that and challenge you, by destroying the good life.

The brave people want us to remember the the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact – the most vile agreement in history. That this pact existed is no longer even taught in schools and is ignored by current politicians.

This pact, signed in 1939, was between Nazi Germany and the USSR. The two countries agreed how to divide up Eastern Europe and to cooperate and aid one another. This pact encouraged Germany to start WWII. Russia was the great provider of oil and other materials which enabled the German war machine and aided and abetted the Holocaust. The USSR continued to help the Nazis until Hitler invaded Russia in 1941. If that did not happen, the Communists would have continued to aid the Nazis and the Allies would never have been able to defeat Germany and stop the Holocaust.

When the Germans invaded Russia, Stalin demanded the Allies save him. Let’s be truthful. The US did not enter the war to save the Jewish people (if the US government cared they would have done so years earlier before millions died)- the Roosevelt administration entered the war to save the USSR. The same USSR that sided with Nazi Germany.

When was the last time anyone mentioned this pact and the aid given to the Nazis by Russia? I am certain some readers are hearing this for the first time.

Obama doesn’t give a damn about human freedoms, he only cares about further enslaving people by providing more “free stuff, like his Obamaphones!”

I wonder if Obama has got a secret protocol to “allow” Putin to send his tanks into the Baltic States to protect the Russians occupiers left there when those three countries took back their sovereignty!

Never forget that George W. Bush started the program that has become the Obama phone. Enemies of freedom exist in both parties.

I saw this too late today but it is very inspiring.

I plan on celebrating Baltic day tomorrow and putting it on the calendar for next year.

Communism and the Marxism which inspires it, are blights upon the human experience. This is why I HATE the “useful idiots.” They mean well most times, but are sorely naïve.

Freedom is not free. Only those who take it for granted fail to understand that.

Yeah – but we got something better – a whole lot better – 2 MILLION BIKERS riding into DC on 9/11/13 – on the same day as the million muslim men plan to march.

What could be better than that?

Really, I ask you?

Hogs against Muslims…couldn’t be better than that.

Think of the flags, the deep rumbling noise, the big, really BIG male muscles. Big busted biker women, take no prisoners sort of women.

    I can’t wait.

I didn’t know about this. And I thought I was paying attention to events in the Baltics at the time.

I wonder if we could form a coast-to-coast chain like that against ObamaCare oppression.

It took almost two million human beings at unison to raise a voice that could be heard. Two million people to cry an effective demand for freedom.
How ironic!

It is taking just a few bureaucrats and politicians to seriously harm what has always been a paradigm of those exact same freedoms.

[…] can unite in the name of freedom to reject socialism in a peaceful, effective manner. (Thanks to Legal Insurrection for documenting my tweets about the anniversary of the “Baltic […]

— sad thing is most of your contemporaries probably ask “why protest communism?”
It’s worse: they’ll say you’re an evil McCarthyite extremist if you protest communism. Our own government identifies people who talk about “individual liberties” as “extremist.”
