Meanwhile, Syrian army attacks Homs

While everyone is focused on protests in Cairo, the war continues in Syria.

Via Al Jazeera, Syria army launches intense bombing of Homs:

Air strikes killed at least three civilians as Syrian government forces intensified their attacks and pressed forward with a new bid to retake several rebel-controlled districts of Homs.

A woman and her two children were reported killed in attacks on the Old City of Homs and the Khaldiyeh neighbourhood on Sunday, the Syrian Observator for Human Rights told the AFP news agency.

“Syrian warplanes carried out air strikes on the Old City… destroying a house and causing three deaths,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, the director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

“Regime forces also carried out heavy shelling of the districts of Khaldiyeh and the Old City, and the sound of explosions could be heard.”

Via The Guardian:

The offensive follows steady military gains by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces, backed by Lebanese Hezbollah militants, in villages in Homs province and towns close to the Lebanese border….

Opposition sources and diplomats said the loyalist advance had tightened the siege of Homs and secured a main road link to Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon and to army bases in Alawite-held territory near the Syrian coast, the main entry point for Russian arms that have given Assad a key advantage in firepower.

Good for Syria. I hope they beat these al Qaeda terrorists. And that is exactly what the FSA is. The Syrian regime is the only thing standing against genocide by outsider Sunnia extremists against Shias, moderate Sunnis, and Christians in Syria. The FSA is a worthless group, and our politicians are beyond worthless for arming them.

Air strikes & 3 dead. If Syria does it with only 3 dead it is a atrocity. If A side we like better bombs a city with only 3 dead it is pinpoint accuracy & a sign of technological & moral superiority .

Got it .

Go,both sides, go!

You know, we went after Saddam in Irak. And, ended up worse off. Cost us lives and treasure. And, we’re still not liked by Iraqis. Let alone that China is picking up all their government contracts. We paid. And, the Chinese win.

Then, over in Libya, with the french “leading” … we take out Kdaffy, and see Libya disintigrate.

So, you know, I don’t buy that Assad isn’t the legitimate leader of Syria. I may not like him. But it’s not any of my business to see America’s taxpayer money going in to help a bunch of radical rebels.

Oh, as long as the russians, the europeans, and us, keep throwing weaponry at all sorts of characters, we’re gonna lose. When it’s over? The russians pick up the “repair” contracts.

Back in the 1930’s, being very adapt at reading the American mind, FDR really kept us isolated from the growing insanities. Here? We’ve jumped in much too fast. And, with military lunatics on par with Dr. Strangeloe and Curtis LeMay.

We won’t see anything getting better until we clean up our military schools. Or as Eisenhower said, do something to the military-industrial complex.

Gay is the day for the US military.

Good – send them over . If they are killed it is better for they would not have reproduced anyhow.

There -I said it.

Assad seems to let the opposition get established and concentrate and then he strikes a blow at them and they retreat. Been going that way for a while.

Ad every time the opposition takes an area and concentrates the LSM says: “rebels are winning. They took …”
