Hillary Clinton joins slew of Democrats abandoning the DNC ship

Hillary Clinton joins slew of Democrats abandoning the DNC ship

I first wrote back in June that Missouri Senator Claire MacAskill’s effort to distance herself from the President by skipping out on the DNC was “not a bad strategy.”

In July, I reported that Nancy Pelosi had essentially endorsed it as the “official strategy” of Congressional Democrats.

Now, it appears to be that anyone seeking to hold prominent political office in the future would do well to just steer clear of North Carolina next week.

Hillary Clinton is paying particularly close attention to this advice, and is going to err on the side of caution.

Not only will she be out of state. Not only will she be out of the country. She’s going to out of the hemisphere visiting the Cook Islands, off the coast of New Zealand. For the record, the Cook Islands are not historically known as an international power player.

Clinton’s decision to forego the DNC is making headlines. (h/t The Daily Caller)

Clinton’s departure prevents Obama from using her popularity to boost his outreach to swing-voting unmarried and married women.

Instead, Obama has awarded a speaking slot to her husband, former President Bill Clinton. That could be risky, because relations between the two presidents have been frosty, and the former president may subtly undercut the current president.

Clinton’s high-profile exit from the country and from party politics forcefully underlines her effort to distance herself from Obama’s waning political fortunes.

But it also protects her fortunes, just in case she decides to run in 2016.

She reportedly declined an informal offer from Obama’s top aide, Valerie Jarrett, to take over the vice presidential slot.

Since attending the DNC this year has been recognized within the Democratic party at the highest levels as essentially political suicide, it should come as no surprise that Hillary’s husband has been tapped to be a keynote speaker.

Obviously, the days of pursuing elected office are well behind former President Clinton. He can afford it.

Although typically reserved for the party’s rising star (recall Barack Obama’s keynote address at the DNC in 2004), it seems that no one who harbors aspirations of appealing to a broad electorate in the future is willing to associate themselves too closely with the President.

Can you blame them?

Please, Lord, let Ditzy Wassername-Shultz deliver the Deemocrat keynote.

I will set my DVR, and I promise NEVER to kick another cat…

I would not be shocked if Bubba walks up to the mic and states in his most stentorian voice: “Do not…I repeat, do not, vote for Barack Obama. He’s toxic and needs to go away for the good of our country and our great party.”

[shoots finger at POTUS]

“Y’all remember who balanced the budget, now, okay? And know that when Hillary runs in 2016, I’ll be right there with her.”

[smiles at the audience; blows kisses; exit: stage left]

He and Jimmy Carville are seen later at I-HOP yuckin’ it up.

DANG, TROOPER, YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME! Your discription here led to the following verse. Enjoy, spread the fun, no rights reserved!

“THE CLINTONS’ REVENGE” [The Trooper’s Cautionary Fantasy]

It was a night we will remember, for as long as we shall live,
“Convention Night” at the DNC, and Bill had a speech to give.
He was SUPPOSED to praise Obama, and arouse the listless crowd,
But instead he eyes went “beady” and he started talking LOUD:

“Now, my friends,” he said with boldness,
For he knew they loved him still,
“I’ve been asked to say some special words,
And I promise that I will”

“We have come tonight to nominate,
    A toxic, stupid whore,
“Who has spent our children’s birthright
And now wants to spend some more!”

“It was I who made the budget work,
It was I who made us great,
“This little twerp has screwed you all,
And it was all a great mistake.”

“So kick this BOZO out of here,
And wait for a better day,
In four short years, it’s HILLARY’S TIME,
And I’m with her all the way!”

“Clinton’s departure prevents Obama from using her popularity”
There was a fair bit of speculation a few weeks ago about the Dems dropping “Plugs” Biden….guess that’s no longer in the cards 🙂

As the emergency statement goes:

“Women and children first” AND to the best of my knowledge, since seeing Hillary on the Interwebby shakin’ her booty, she is a woman..

i think

I have heard that it is traditional for most cabinet secretaries not to appear at their conventions.

Heh… The democrats abandoned by Hillary! Whatta shame.

I wonder if they might turn on her and call her names like heathen, unrepentant, self centered etc?

I think that I’ll tune out the demo convention next week and spend useful time watchin’ Nutflix and the like…

Rats jumping a sinking ship! Who would have thunk it?

If you want to go hide PIAPS, you can get deluxe accommodations on Guadalcanal up on Edson’s Ridge.

Do a little souvenir hunting while your there.

Something tells me Bill Clinton and Sandra Fluke have alot in common.

So Hillary coincidentally will be in the “Cook” Islands while Obamas “goose” is browning nicely in the oven. Do you suppose many of our black friends will notice their pretty white patrons are leaving their now former prodegy to twist in the wind ? Is that a murder of crows I see coming over the horizon?

I was really hoping that Bill Clinton was the ‘mystery speaker’ at the GOP Convention, and that he’d let the world know EXACTLY what he really thinks of Obama.

Really, how do you go from being to most powerful man in the world to being a man who has to toe the partisan line, and kow-tow to a man who screwed over your wife’s candidacy. What does it take to do that to a person?

I wonder if the Cook Islands story is just a diversion. Could HRC be Thursday’s secret RNC speaker?

My moneys on Lizzy. Word is shes been drunk for well over a month and is now soiling herself. Mitt wants her to showcase her reputation as the future of the dem party. Professor youve really done a number on her.

“no one who harbors aspirations of appealing to a broad electorate in the future is willing to associate themselves too closely with the President. Can you blame them?”

Damn straight I can blame them.

Hey, Dems, Bambi’s YOUR worthless loser party “leader” – own him.

Hillary Clinton to leave the hemisphere during Democratic convention
…is she open to taking some patriotic Americans along on her DNC/OBOZO-avoidance getaway? (If yes, SIGN ME UP !)

What would be more appropriate is if she were to go to the Isle of Lesbos.

That jerk can run, but she can’t hide.

The damage she’s done as Secretary of State in Russian, Egypt, Libya and the rest the world (not to mention her buffoonish drunk behavior, embarrassing the U.S. at just about every diplomatic stop she makes) will long haunt her, despite a cover-up attempt by a corrupt Democrat media.

She is a fool, a failure and a much of a contrivance as ‘Barack Obama.’

Conservative Beaner | August 29, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Dead cat bounce anyone? The only bounce Obozo gets is from Bill being there. I bet after Bill finishes his speech it will be a quick exit stage left.

Henry Hawkins | August 29, 2012 at 8:35 pm

My most devious and cynical side hopes that Bill Clinton serves up the DNC keynote address like a dish best served cold. In my dark fantasy, Bill Clinton chooses that moment, the 2012 Democrat National Convention keynote address, to deliver his long-awaited coup-de-gras to the neck of the Obama political machine. I hope Bill has been simmering with a quiet bubbling hatred of Obama since the 2008 primaries, patiently waiting for just the right moment on a vigil against premature execution. Cool as a bloodless lizard, Clinton will release the final act of his passion play against Obama, and initiate the final downfall of a would be king. Clinton takes the stage in Charlotte, all eyes and lens upon him, and panders to every one of those far left special interest groups in the hall who are so disappointed in Obama. Clinton whips them up into a pure fury over all that wasn’t done: Gitmo is still open! Obamacare isn’t single payer! Gay marriage isn’t a guaranteed right! People are burning coal! We’re still following Bush’s policies! and on and on Clinton goes, riling up the base he knows Obama is trying to calm. Then Clinton chops Obama off at the knees speechifyin’ on how horrible it is to turn your back on your allies, especially countries like Great Britain, Poland, and Israel, who’ve been our strong allies basically forever. Bill would then toss in some disgust for our unwillingness to confront Iran on its nuclear program, joking that “under Obama, children will become easier to find – they’ll glow in the dark! H-yuk!” Basically Bill keeps it up until the base tears everything down. Literally. The 2012 Democrat National Convention reduced to a shambles by one speaker and one speech. The Democrat Party splits in two: those who want to stay the course with Obama, despite the damage, and those who want to wipe the board, start over, hope for the best with a new top ticket, and concentrate just about everything on protecting the Democrat senate majority, an effort which goes down in flames, Romney & Ryan take the White House, the Senate goes GOP 53-47, and the House adds to its majority, and by 2014 people in the street will say things like, “Barack who?” That’s my dream.

Exactly, Henry Hawkins, that is your dream. Now wake up to reality.

“Since attending the DNC this year has been recognized within the Democratic party at the highest levels as essentially political suicide.”

No, YOU made that determination based on a unremarkable statement made by Pelosi. Typical of any political operative, the spin machine is in full force.

“Clinton’s high-profile exit from the country and from party politics forcefully underlines her effort to distance herself from Obama’s waning political fortunes.”

The stink is already on her, professor. It doesn’t matter if she goes to Mars, the (R)’s and others already have an opinion regarding her future political endeavors.

And yet, when an incumbent President is regarded even as popular with the base, most congressional candidates – incumbents and challenging candidates – want to be at the convention, perhaps to be interviewed by a network for home town consumption.

So why are so many Democratic candidates avoiding the convention THIS year when they never did before?

Henry Hawkins in reply to greencarman. | August 30, 2012 at 2:36 pm

I reject your reality and replace it with my dream.

The Liberal Democratic Socialist Marxist Titanic ship and it’s captain are sinking, and everyone is jumping ship, except the band, aka Obama’s crony henchmen.

By the time 6 Nov. arrives, Obama will be all alone on the captains deck, sinking with his failed socialist marxist communist manifesto in hand, saying- “but it’s Bush’s fault”..

6 Nov cannot come soon enough!
