This is just a test of the Legal Insurrection Emergency Broadcast System

This is just a test of the Legal Insurrection Emergency Broadcast System

I have been frustrated with the ability of various pressure groups to mobilize people on Twitter with great speed, while we play catch-up.

So we have just added a new feature here, the Legal Insurrection Emergency Broadcast System.

When there is a developing event, you will see a Broadcast Alert appear at the top of the sidebar, like this one:

All you have to do is hit “Tweet This” and you will be directed to your Twitter account with the tweet already filled out for you.  At that point you will have to hit “Tweet” again for it actually to go out.  The tweet will then go out as any other tweet from your account.

You can edit the tweet before you send it from your account if you want, or you can send it as it.

If you do not have a Twitter account, get one.

This will not be used with great frequency, and there may be days when there are no Broadcast Alerts, and other days when there are more than one Alert.  The Alerts will function much like Announcements — how long the Alert stays up will depend on the event, it could be just minutes or it could be hours.

But first we need to test the system.

So the first Broadcast Alert will be live until the morning.  If you encounter any problems, please post a comment and we will address them.

Update 6-5-2012: The test is over, all systems ready. You can view my test tweet here and retweet it if you want.

Hmmm, I may have been first

So in the time honored fashion:

FOIST!!!

Ps. I may have twitted first also. Whee. I’m a born leader.

Hmm not quite. Steve got in by a nanosecond. Or as Maxwell Smart would say:

Missed by THAT :: much!

You ^^^^ guys jinxed me….I tried before any of you but only got this:

Account suspended
The profile you are trying to view has been suspended.

Fortunately it’s working now 🙂

Off topic, but I’ve noticed that the ads they put on your blog seem to be predominantly for liberals. Couldn’t be they would do that on purpose, could it?

I use Twitter for reading, not for tweeting (nobody listens to little old me) but I figured, what the hell. Done!

The three people following me will be thrilled.

I’m not so sure about this idea. Sounds like the Left’s astroturfing method to me. And astroturfing seems too much like a herd mentality to have any real effect.

But, I could be wrong – because I thought the Right was ahead on this tweeting thing.

Either way, carry on the good fight.

I’m waiting for Boehner to give Obama the “Twitter kill switch.”

All systems are ready and waiting to hit the Twittersphere.

Worked perfectly.

SIMPLY FLUCKING BRILLIANT….

To those who don’t have a following (like me): using the hash tag makes the topic trend list, so more people will see your tweet than you think!! 😉

And, for those who don’t know much about Twitter, check out Michelle Malkin’s Twitchy site; it shows what’s going on in the Twitter-sphere, what is trending in many areas of interest. But, more to the point, there is a nice “how to use Twitter” page, which can give those less confident tweeters some tips and pointers – or it used to, when it first launched. Worth checking out, if you are starting to tweet!

May the Twitter-verse be with you. MT, RT, and tweet early and often for WI and America. 😀

Here is a link to the Twitchy “how-to” tips page: Granny’s Guide to Twitter

My handle is (yeah, you guessed it)…..@DINOright. 🙂 See you there.

To those who don’t have a following (like me): using the hash tag makes the topic trend list, so more people will see your tweet than you think!! 😉

Just FYI, though, because you have chosen to “protect” your account the only people who can see what you tweet are those who are actually following you. Your tweets won’t show up in those hashtag searches for those not following you, so in your case only yourself and the two people following you will see yours.

Fixed it – thanks!! *blushes* I didn’t remember doing that……glad you brought that to my attention. 😀

Great idea, Coach.

At the risk of sounding like Meghan McCain,

“Stop talking about my boobs!”

Er, I mean …

“This is an awesome idea and it worked awesomely!!!!”

Cool, cool feature to ad to LI’s arsenal.

Of course when I woke up and immediately checked in with LI, I was compelled to go watch a snippet of “The Day After” (“This is Lawrence, Kansas. Is there anybody out there? Anyone at all?”), followed by the opening scene of “Testament” (“We interrupt this program at the request of the White House. Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the United States (Flash…)”). Ruined my day…
