Elizabeth Warren wouldn’t even send staffer to meet Cherokee Women

Elizabeth Warren wouldn’t even send staffer to meet Cherokee Women

Elizabeth Warren still is hiding from Cherokees, the people she claims to be one of.

When a group of Cherokee women flew to Boston in the hope of meeting Warren to explain why her false claim to be Cherokee is so offensive, the Warren campaign said to media that it would have staffers meet with the Cherokees:

Late last [Sunday] night, a Warren campaign official told the Herald that staffers will “connect” and “offer to have staff meet with them.”

Yet the Warren campaign in reality had no such intention, that was just media spin.  In reality, the Warren campaign refused even to have staffers meet with the Cherokee women:

Via The Boston Herald:

Four Cherokee activists, who hoped to confront Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren over her Native American claims, are heading home today disappointed.

“It’s like we didn’t exist,” said Cherokee genealogist Twila Barnes of the response they got this week from the Warren camp. She said the campaign never returned their calls despite a promise that staffers would meet with them.

But it’s not over, the Cherokees will be holding a fundraiser to bring a larger group back to Boston this summer and again for one of the debates in September:

The Cherokees, who come from Oklahoma, Oregon and Missouri, plan to start raising funds to bring a larger group out to Boston later this summer and in September for one of the Senate debates between Warren and U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.

While neither Warren nor her staffers would meet with the Cherokees, Warren held fundraisers this week and today at 1:45 will have an online chat at The Boston Globe.  Anyone can pose questions although The Globe will screen them; I wonder if The Globe will allow questions about the Cherokee issue.

Doofus is a candidate that just keeps giving and giving.

By the way, today is Elizabeth Warren’s birthday! Let’s send her a tomahawk.

You do that at your own risk. The B/D greeting page will require you to give your email address which sets you up for endless solicitations. And don’t believe that Warren won’t be giving your address to the One and his campaign. Maybe even to PBS.

    Expect plenty of beg-a-thons.

PhillyGuy in reply to Frank Scarn. | June 22, 2012 at 10:01 am

Hey good point you made there. I’m already dreading the enormous number of robocalls I will receive when the election gets closer.

Just use her name(or nickname)@ the website the card comes from. It then gives you the donation page and I exit! She pays for the click in honor of her birthday!

If you can tolerate receiving and recycling the mail you can use the postage paid return envelope to send back a message of your choice at the Warren campaign’s expense. Do that myself when I receive solicitations from organizations I despise, although not all of them use postage paid return envelopes. Don’t know about the Warren campaign in this regard.

Yep, you’d think AARP would have figured that out by now! I’ve sent back so many of their envelopes, stuffed with lots of Republican literature and ads for Geico Insurance!

I believe the RNC sent a subscription to Ancestry.com.
    Simply delicious…

Warren made the wrong people mad, ay gawd!

This really makes me wonder what else she might, if elected to office, “stonewall”. Pity the people she would be representing who disagree with her.

Its obvious her heritage is of the Nutroot Tribe

You can hear the continuing Buzz – bzzz of her crack advise team now. “To meet with them now would only give credit to their claim & make things worse!” Stupid democrats as they turn their face full into the shitstorm.

She previously has proven herself to be a charlatan, schemer, and liar. She now has proven herself to be a cowardly charlatan, schemer, and liar.

One can only wonder if she “certified” herself as a Native American on Penn and Harvard application forms – and has thus committed perjury.

Henry Hawkins in reply to walls. | June 22, 2012 at 2:34 pm

To ‘certify’ yourself as a Cherokee requires you to document your ancestry back to a relative listed on the Dawes Rolls, set up beginning in… 1895?… and finalized a maybe ten years later. The Dawes Rolls address the five civilized tribes, including the Cherokee. When journalists tried to identify Warren’s Cherokee ancestry, this is likely the first place they searched:

    http://www.archives.gov/research/native-americans/dawes/intro.html

My wife has several relatives on these rolls.

This is obviously not a campaign brimming with confidence in the political skills of its candidate. Had she met with them for an hour, it’s conceivable she could have charmed them into saying something nice about her on camera, which very possibly would have let the air out of the whole controversy. She could have embraced the opportunity to (finally) meet some people who shared “her” heritage, while acknowledging that she has, at most, only a small bit of Native American blood. In short, she could have taken the high road and the confident road; but instead she chose the craven approach of simply hiding out from these people until they left.

If I was running the campaign, I would ignore them too. Not saying it is right, just a matter of self interest for Warren. She has nothing to benefit from it. These four women are not savvy lobbyists, they just four women defending their identity.

I was more then willing to forgive Warren to be mistaken, and just acknowledge that her parents were mistaken as well. When directly asked, she blows everyone off and ultimately cries that people are attacking her family.

Both she and Harvard benefited from having a ‘woman of color’, their words, not the right wing extremists. Just say, sorry and retract it.

I’ve been thinking the same thing for some time now. Meeting with these women would only feed negative news stories.

ReneeA in reply to janitor. | June 22, 2012 at 10:57 am

Sure it may be embarassing to learn that you aren’t Native American, but she wasn’t claiming 50% or a 25% either so it wasn’t much to retract at 1/32 of heritage. Still, who gets so connected to 1/32 of one’s ancestry?

TrooperJohnSmith | June 22, 2012 at 10:14 am

Once again, her behavior is working in diametric opposition to her claim to be Cherokee.

Of course, in her little elitist brain, she was probably afraid that those “blanket Indians,” jealous of her newly-found “white ways” and education, might try to strip her of those designer duds, tie her up in a gunny sack and take her back to the reservation for some good, old-fashioned re-Indianafying.

I’m sure a Warren spokesman will say they attempted to meet with the Cherokee, but having received information that a certain conservative blogger had given the Indians whiskey and Winchesters, they deferred meeting out of concern for public safety. After all, they will say, “Ms. Warren is all about the Public Safety!”

LukeHandCool | June 22, 2012 at 10:17 am

These ladies are going about it the wrong way.

They each need to fill out forms for the Cherokee Association Directory and self-designate themselves as “law professor.”

That will result in them being included on a list of “law professors” in the Cherokee Association Directory.

This would go a long way in showing that they just want to find and meet up with other people “just like them.”

Both sides have to show a willingness to game the system. If one side is willing to go to the extreme of faking person-of-color heritage, certainly faking academic credentials palefaces in comparison.

Doncha get tired of that? 😉

LukeHandCool in reply to TrooperJohnSmith. | June 22, 2012 at 11:15 am

I never tire of my work.

      I specialize in women’s health.

“Unbutton your blouse and say, ‘Ahhhh!’ Come closer … I’m not going to hurt you.”

It takes years to develop the right bedside manner. I had such a busy practice as a little boy. I was the only boy-doctor on the block and had to care for all the little girls in the neighborhood. Quite a stressful responsibility when you’re only seven years old.

Only in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts could Ms. Warren still be a competitive Senate candidate. After all what’s an identity thief compared to drunken womaizer and murderer “Lion of The Senate” Ted Kennedy.

Maybe, but I think she’d have a fighting chance in Connecticut.

Your comment on “The Swimmer” is right on. If you get the chance, read “Senatorial Privilege” by Leo Damore. It thoroughly covers the Chappaquiddick incident and coverup. It is an amazing read. Some facts the general public may not be aware of:

    1. The police were forced to REDUCE their estimated vehicle speed at the time of the accident so that the resultant charge would be a misdemeanor, not a felony.
    2. “The Swimmer” did not have a valid license at the time of the accident, so the motor vehicle department had one produced on a SUNDAY that was surrendered the next day; again, the charges would be more severe without a valid license.
    3. “The Swimmer” made dozens of calls from the hotel across the bridge immediately following the accident in the wee morning hours – but not ONE call to fire, police, etc. The submerged car was spotted the next day by a fisherman and his son.
    4. Mary Jo probably had enough air in an air pocket to survive 2-hours; she might have been saved if the authorities were notified immediately.

This is a well-researched book. How this murdering idiot was elected for 8-terms … I do not know. I can only say … it’s Massachusetts.

Henry Hawkins in reply to JulianG3. | June 22, 2012 at 2:40 pm

The reason Warren remains viable in the race is because of Scott Brown, a… ugh!… Republican!… occupying The Kennedy Seat. If she had the precise same record and resume but happened to be a Republican, I’m thinking juuust maybe this Cherokee mess might mean more to MA voters – and media. The predominantly Dem voters of MA must be thinking, saying to one another, “of course she’s horrible, but are we gonna vote for… ugh!”

Keep up the good work Professor Jacobson. Maybe you’ll make it to Obama’s “enemies list”.

I get mail. Happy birthday Elizabeth Warren:

Dear ,
Elizabeth Warren is working her heart out to beat Scott Brown in Massachusetts, so she can bring her historic fight for the middle class to the U.S. Senate.
And it just so happens that Elizabeth’s birthday is Friday.
To show our appreciation for her hard work, we’re sending her a birthday card. Will you join us?
Thanks for all you do!
Bob Fertik

Still working and hoping you will lose!

Time to send this Socialist Squaw back to her Harvard Teepee.

[…] Warren campaign hopes that by cutting off oxygen to the Cherokee controversy, the media will eventually get tired of it and drop the issue. Polls […]

It is not just the damage that Elizabeth Warren is doing to the Cherokee people, Harvard, and the people of Massachusetts, consider also the damage she has done to the innocent fraction 1/32.

1/32 has been around for a very long time and has served us well. It has valiantly defended the other 31/32nds from becoming 0. Aesthetically is is an attractive fraction, with the slim 1 numerator leading the eye to the delightfully curved 3 and the assertive 2 in the denominator.

This fraction along with all similar fractions has been exploited and victimized. How long before other rational numbers begin to question the validity and integrity of this fraction. Will they be discriminated against by carpenters and mathematicians? Will there be laws created to protect these fractions from a fractionist, bigoted society? Will these fractions be granted the same right to join with other fractions even if they have the same denominator?

These fractions, simply are being hammered.

    ditditditditditdit….. this just in:

“The Federal Bureau of Base Ten Numbers announced today that they have changed the graphic iteration of a certain common fraction. Effective July 1, 2012, the fraction 1/32 will be known and written as 2/64.”

[…] she cannot have, is bloggers following her around seeking the truth. Meanwhile, she likes to blame LegalInsurrection.com for the Cherokee Indians who just don’t agree with her pedigree – even though they are […]

Total doublespeak and hand-waving on the Globe chat, starting with the inaccurate softball question chosen by the moderator:

“2:03 [Comment From Tom B:]
Whats the real story behind your Indian Heritage?? And did you knowingly use it to your advantage while you were a professor?

2:07 Elizabeth Warren: Growing up, my family talked a lot about our Native American heritage. In fact, my mother and father had to elope because my father’s family didn’t approve of his marrying someone who was part Cherokee and part Delaware.

The people who hired me, including Charles Fried, who was Solicitor General for Reagan and has said in print that he supported Scott Brown, have all said they were not even aware of my heritage when they hired me and that it played no role in my hiring.”

Watching Elizabeth Warren play the victim card on this one makes me want to throw up. Plus, what a pack of lies!

So her parents had to elope because her mother was 1/16th completely undocumented Cherokee? Oh, REALLY???

Here’s another scenario. Maybe her parents had to elope because her father’s family just didn’t like her mother and they didn’t want their son marrying somebody they didn’t like. That is a far more believable situation than the undocumented 1/16th Cherokee forbidden marriage nonsense…

Henry Hawkins in reply to Cassie. | June 22, 2012 at 4:24 pm

When the politician offers an exculpatory anecdote that is impossible to check, meaning one must believe it or not only on faith – rest assured said politician is lying.

TrooperJohnSmith in reply to Cassie. | June 22, 2012 at 7:34 pm

Her parents eloping in Oklahoma due to having 1/16 Cherokee blood? Total, absolute, complete bullsh1t! Anywhere but there!

Perhaps the Cherokee group that wanted to meet with Elizabeth Warren would have been successful if they had arranged the meeting as more of a luncheon.

Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren turns 63 today, and among her birthday gifts is one she probably won’t appreciate very much. She’s in a tight race against the GOP incumbent, Scott Brown. The state’s Republican party announced this morning that it is gifting Warren, a Harvard Law professor, with a complimentary account at ancestry.com.

“Since Professor Warren has failed to come up with any evidence supporting her claims to Native American ancestry, we thought this Ancestry.com account would make the perfect birthday gift,” said Massachusetts Republican Party executive director Nate Little in a statement.
