5 Beatles, who knew?

John, Paul, George, Ringo and Doofus

    WarEagle82 in reply to JP. | May 12, 2012 at 3:40 pm

There have almost always been more than 4 Beatles.

Stuart Sutcliffe was a band member in 1960 and 1961 and Pete Best was the original drummer from 1960 to 1962.

Billy Preston was almost always referred to as the “5th Beatle.”

Geez, it is like EVERYBODY is younger than me these days!

If he is at least 1/32nd Indian he will be on the tenure track at Harvard in no time.

It is literally a crime against young people to let them pass through an “education system” with so little UNDERSTANDING of civics, history, and ESPECIALLY economics.

LukeHandCool | May 12, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Cut the young scholar some slack.

You can only cram so much knowledge in a young brain, especially when money for education is being slashed and schools are forced to hold bake sales to … oh, that’s right. No bake sales. Never mind.

Teach your children history. Lots and lots of bloody, genocidal history.

History with the best of intentions … people with the absolute best of intentions … that ends in death and misery.

And then teach them some more of it.

    P.S.

This post title belongs on your Sgt. Peppers of Post Titles, Professor!

Reminds me of the history class I had when, before starting his lecture on the 1960s, the Professor pushed the “play” button on a huge boombox he set in front of the class and out blared the Beatles’ “Revolution.”

An hour or so later during the lecture it became apparent the professor had a serious man-crush on President Kennedy. It was so fawning that I wouldn’t doubt that’s why he chose to become a history professor. Kind of an unsettling moment. Otherwise very intelligent people can convince themselves that believing what they want to believe is the objective truth.

They have the brains to do calculus … I’m not poo-pooing their intelligence, but, like the young man above, someone has pulled the lever and the train has switched tracks at the junction … and sometimes the train comes completely off the rails.

They have the intelligence to learn something like higher math … but when it comes to the realities of human nature and governing and such … they can do all kinds of seemingly adept calculations … but their final answers are always way, way off. It’s quite maddening to witness.

Yet another shining example of the failure of Academia.

Failure to educate?

No.

In that, they were successful. He is armed with the “facts” they wanted him to know–the basic tenets needed to create a whole generation of useful idiots for the progressive movement.

Their failure was in their inability to instill the anger, hatred, and vitriol necessary to to close his heart and mind to thoughts, ideas, and words that may run counter to his current beliefs and knowledge base.

The fact this kid didn’t tell him to “Shut up and go away–I hate you” is an epic failure by his institution of learning-

The progressives can’t be having that-

They got to be having this:

What is the world coming to when refugees from the USSR have to explain to ignorant Americans that Communism and Socialism don’t work?

This “kid” was totally ignorant of any basic historical facts from the past 3,000 years or so. If he paid a dime of tuition, he should sue for educational malpractice.

The Good Professor could start a class action and make a killing!

There was a formatting bug in another post today that turned all replies bold When I saw this, it reminded me that I had once tried to create simple tables on my replies. It was really difficult to do. Just spacing between tabular columns doesn’t work.

So I started looking for a way to force my replies into “non-bolded” text but couldn’t find one. However, I did compile a list of formatting commands you can use on this web site (and probably on MichelleMalkin.com too).

I suppose the Good Professor and his minions (can “Good Professors” have “minions?”) could fix this formatting error by editing the offending post but they probably have better things to do on Saturdays.

I think most everyone knows how to turn a “tag” on and off so I won’t go into some pedantic explanation of this. Help is moderately priced for ‘Bama fans and free to all others.

Formatting tags that work on this site are listed below.

<a href=”http://www.legalinsurrection.com/”>Visit legalinsurrection.com</a> creates the link to a web site in the next line.
Visit legalinsurrection.com

<blockquote> Formats the text as a block quote.

This is a blockquote

<b> Formats text as bold.
<strong> Formats text as bold.
<i> Formats text as italic.
<em> Formats text as italic.
<strike> Formats text as strikeout/strikethrough
<a>Red Text</a> Turns text red and underlines it when the mouse hovers over the text. This treats the text as a hyperlink but since there is no hyperlink specified it just turns the text red.

Formatting tags that affect spacing between characters are listed below. You can use these to force space between “columns” in a table. All but simple tables are QUITE tedious.

‘&thinsp;’ embeds an ‘Thin’ Space ‘ ’
‘&ensp;’ embeds an ‘En’ Space ‘ ’
‘&emsp;’ embeds an ‘Em’ Space ‘ ’

A sample table formatted this way might look like this.

Candiate    Year  % Votes
Candidate 1   2008  54
Candidate 2   2008  45
Candidate 3   2008  01

To create the sample table I typed the following lines(don’t include the quotation marks):
“Candidate&emsp;&emsp;&emsp;Year&emsp;&emsp;&Votes”
“Candidate 1&emsp;&emsp;&emsp;2008&emsp;&emsp;54”
“Candidate 2&emsp;&emsp;&emsp;2008&emsp;&emsp;45”
“Candidate 3&emsp;&emsp;&emsp;2008&emsp;&emsp;01”

Tedious, but it can be done.

How did I get an “<” and an “>” characters to show up in the post since they are part of tags and don’t normally show up in posts?

‘&lt;’ embeds the less-than sign ‘<‘
‘&gt;’ embeds the greater-than sign ‘>’

How did I get ‘“’ and ‘”’ to show up anywhere I wanted them?
‘&ldquo;’ Places an ‘ “ ‘ character in the text.
‘&rdquo;’ Places an ‘ ” ‘ character in the text.
<q> Places an ‘ “ ‘ character in the text.
<9> Places an ‘ ” ‘ character in the text.

I have not found a way to embed a tab character or create ordered or unordered lists or a true table. I have not found a way to change the color other than red as mentioned above. Most HTML commands don’t work in replies.

I hope I haven’t given away any “secrets” of the universe and exposed the Good Professor to the “Wrath of the Bloggers.”

This is what WarEagle does when it is not football season, the wife and kids are busy, and my car is in the shop.

Enjoy.

“History with the best of intentions … people with the absolute best of intentions … that ends in death and misery.”

I was in a hurry when I wrote that.

It should really read “EVEN with the best intentions.”

The intentions are also often evil … but, as history shows, the result either way is often bloody and full of misery and death.

This needs to be drilled into kids’ minds. Not only because it’s the harsh truth of reality, but also because it will encourage them to count their blessings living in this great country of ours. It’s not perfect, but what is?

What a great land where you can come from nothing and become rich and/or successful …. no class structure, no caste system keeping you in place. And if you fail … you can have another go at it … as many times as you like!!

LukeHandCool (who comes from sturdy peasant stock … and who will always be a simple peasant at heart, happy with the simple pleasures in life … like living in a free country where his children have so many opportunities available to them because, let’s face it, at this point, success will have to be vicarious … Luke wasted too many years fooling around and blowing his money … his chance has come and gone 🙁

I’ve been following this guy’s YouTube channel ever since his “oh realllllllly??” clip came out last year–his name is Vladimir Jaffe and he is one cool dude. At least, as far as I can tell, b/c I sure wouldn’t have this level of patience.

Anybody wants to see some more of his fun clips, I’ve got a rundown of some favorites here:
