Legal Insurrection readers are patrolling

the intertubes in and around Sanford, Florida, heavily armed with knowledge, facts, and skepticism, seeking to protect citizens regardless of race, creed, or color, from race-hustlers, race-haters, 15-minutes of fame seekers, jump-on-the-story journalists, bully bloggers, and web-traffic pumpers.

Thanks to the 280+ Facebook sharers and 1800+ Twitters who shared Sanford (FL) Police deny any indication of neo-Nazis patrolling, and particularly but not limited to “retwitter” patrol members (in no particular order) suhr mesa, kitty, swan spirit. Jack Stamp, Linda Des, Josh Painter, Vicky Wagner, Apropos of What, AnneLeary, Deb Singer, Marcy aka Mel, JD Williams, misslexi, Polliwogette2, John Gordon, fearless twitterer Jerri Jones, and many others.

And readers ClinkinKY, Sybill, and many others who reached out and tried to touch those promoting the falsehood.

And bloggers who provided logistical help by getting the link out, including but not limited to Prof. Glenn Reynolds, Gateway Pundit, Weasel Zippers, and many others.

The result is that the original blog post which gave rise to an internet craze about neo-Nazis partolling the streets of Sanford now, finally, after millions read the story or heard about it without equivocation, carries this disclaimer:

UPDATE: The Sanford Police Department says that it has no evidence of neo-Nazis in the area. “We have not seen any neo-Nazis on patrol nor have we had any reports of them,” says Sgt. David Morgenstern. He added that there had been no sign of the New Black Panther Party, either.

Ok, so now, other than “BadBlue” or Breitbart, what other news aggregators are there to replace Drudge?

Uncle Samuel | April 8, 2012 at 7:02 pm

If this disturbing call is genuine, the New Black Panthers are trying to get up some action tomorrow in FL – and are calling for bloodshed, hunting down Zimmerman. (warning obscenities, racist language)

Kudos to everyone who helped get the truth out.

The truth wins every time.

    Since when?

And why am I so happy when the truth does win? I feel like celebrating, and you tell me it’s always like this. What’s up with that?

Truth might win out in the afterlife — here on earth it is a precious and rare commodity.

Browndog in reply to Same Same. | April 8, 2012 at 7:35 pm

      Word.

Look at the amount of work and coordination; TruthNation deployed to the front lines-

3 days later, and blatant fabrication by a two-bit blog has been dispelled.

      Winning?

yea, as defined by Charlie Sheen.

Scorpio51 in reply to Same Same. | April 8, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Sorry if I offended you. I guess in my world truth wins out.

Thanks for calling attention to some of the Twitter army who’ve been active in helping you get the word out. Happily, I was following many of them already, and I’ve now picked up the ones I wasn’t.

Keep up the stellar work, all of you!

Also, if anyone else here is on Twitter & wants me to follow them (I don’t do auto-followback) just tweet & say g’day with the tag #TwitterInsurrection and I’ll hop to it. Cheers.

    G’day mate. and good onya’..

1. Meanwhile at Little Green Footballs, Charles Johnson has posted that a local Fox affiliate is calling the (currently absent) Neo-Nazis a civil rights group.

2. When there’s a news story, some Leftists like to focus on what it supposedly reveals about conservatives via our blogs and comments therein. Interestingly enough, that strategy can be applied irrespective of the truth of the triggering report.

3. Johnson may be trying to attract traffic in order to attract advertising revenue. People who are considering going over there might keep that in mind. Sooner or later his posts appear in Google cache.

4. I’ll say it again: they’ll do anything to distract voters from the economy.

5. And where are my manners? Congratulations, Bill and collaborators. As Reagan said, there is no limit to what you can accomplish if…

Chucky ain’t been the same, since he got his ponytail caught in his Les Paul.

Thank the big boy upstairs that Roger L. and Reynolds, bought his ass out, of PJM..

gs in reply to gs. | April 8, 2012 at 7:58 pm

NB: I’m not saying a blogger’s traffic should be impaired just because I disagree with him. Not at all, but if I conclude that the blogger is posting outrageous indefensible things about serious matters primarily to attract page views, my attitude changes.

JP in reply to gs. | April 8, 2012 at 8:10 pm

Agree with you. He and his minions have a right to go all lefty.

Hell of a change, from when I was commenting. El Cid. (but I mis-typed it and she got entered as Elcid.

Saved a few of when CJ, was posting inflammatory stuff, on the lefties, just to pump numbers for usin’s on the saneside..

I have to get out tomorrow afternoon and will mosey over to Sanford with my trusty video camera and see what I see. I haven’t seen anything suspicious or out of the ordinary since this ‘story’ broke on Friday. I’m really hating the mainstream media in the way they’ve handled this story–the lies, half-truths, manipulations of facts have been staggering. Can’t wait until this is over and I hope Zimmerman’s lawyers sue the bejeebbers out of NBC, ABC, and anyone else in the echo chamber for defamation of character.

Whether you agree or disagree with Derbyshire, keep in mind his admonitions and be safe.

SushiAnn in reply to JP. | April 8, 2012 at 8:46 pm

You mean the ultra-racist screed from the conservative National Review writer? Those admonitions? That Derbyshire?

He’s now been let go for speaking out of code and pulling the curtain back from conservatism for just a bit, and writing an incredibly racist column.

The NRO is generally careful not to say that stuff quite so openly, but Derbyshire posted it on another site that wasn’t so discreet and genteel about conservative racism.

Maybe you should just reprint his ‘admonitions’ here, instead of referring to it obliquely with a wink and a nudge.

Anchovy in reply to SushiAnn. | April 8, 2012 at 8:57 pm

Why do you assume that you can look at what Derbyshire writes and paint all conservatives as racist? I don’t look at you and jump to the conclusion that all liberals are idiots.

        To repeat one more time:

        JP | April 8, 2012 at 10:43 am
        Rules for Sushi eating.

Avoid the blowfish. Blowfish is poisonous.

        Like or Dislike: 6 0

Maybe you should just reprint his ‘admonitions’ here, instead of referring to it obliquely with a wink and a nudge.

Would never give you the pleasure of either. Don’t care for raw FISH!

SushiAnn in reply to JP. | April 9, 2012 at 8:11 am

Well, you already did refer to Derbyshire’s racist rant with a wink and a nudge. Perhaps you didn’t understand what I meant.

          Don’t like sushi? Your loss.

sybilll in reply to SushiAnn. | April 9, 2012 at 1:57 am

Derbyshire’s column was deplorable, and his ties with NRO were severed. I will share your indignation when you confront the 15 people that surrounded me and threatened to beat me down because I was wearing a Sarah Palin t-shirt.

SushiAnn in reply to sybilll. | April 9, 2012 at 7:58 am

I don’t share your indignation. I know that conservatism has a thick streak of racism running up its back, so I just expect this sort of thing from the right.

Does that mean every single conservative is racist? No…although a few of the not very bright commenters here couldn’t gather that.

People wanted to beat you up for wearing a Caribou Barbie shirt? Yeah, right.

I didn’t know the bimbo was on t-shirts…was the caption, “I do TOO read newspapers!” ??

JP in reply to sybilll. | April 9, 2012 at 9:08 am

“I didn’t know the bimbo was on t-shirts…was the caption, “I do TOO read newspapers!” ??”

Start with the obitchuaries first. If you ain’t in ’em, then continue pissing people off, you will be one day…

SushiAnn in reply to sybilll. | April 9, 2012 at 9:12 am

So will you, and so will everybody, America-hater. And Bible Spice will STILL have trouble reading them…

It’s only certain people I despise, YOU made that list. Ta-Da..

“bible”, if I ever held one, it’d burn my hands off. Got my pre boarding pass a head of time, says: straight to hell.

          See ya’ there, Sandra. 🙂

gs in reply to JP. | April 8, 2012 at 9:01 pm

      1. Whether we agree or disagree with Derbyshire’s firing, let’s not be taken in by leftists and “centrists” when they try to link the article in question to the Trayvon Martin killing. IMO it’s far more plausible that he wrote it in response to the St. Patrick’s Day mauling in Baltimore.

      2. For some people, distorting Derb’s gaffe beats talking about Obama’s economic record. Just sayin’.

gs in reply to gs. | April 8, 2012 at 9:38 pm

Aterthought: the Baltimore story only exploded when the videos hit a critical mass of online viewers. So I can’t be sure when Derbyshire became aware of the incident.

SushiAnn in reply to caambers. | April 8, 2012 at 8:25 pm

Now THAT would be real journalism.

Not blindly believing what some faraway blog says.
Not blindly believing what the cops say.

Actually getting on the ground and seeing for yourself.

    Good for you.

    .
I doubt you’ll find any actual neo-Nazis, but the skepticism for both sides is refreshing.

DocWahala in reply to SushiAnn. | April 9, 2012 at 1:03 am

Don’t believe blogs, but what about Tweets from Spike Lee? Talk about the blind leading the blind…and even with that, he gave out the address to the wrong zimmerman

Or what about “Wanted Dead or Alive” vitrol by NBPP?

DocWahala – thinks Sushi is quick to point the finger, but only if it’s not pointed to the left.

SushiAnn in reply to DocWahala. | April 9, 2012 at 8:07 am

Missed my point completely, eh Doc?

Was talking about the difference between he said/she said ‘journalism’ and actual journalism involving getting the facts instead of just reporting what both sides claim.

I take it you’re not the sharpest knife in the drawer, Doc.

wow…that was a ‘beatdown’? Clearly not much of one.

Since forever humans have had stuff told to them. It has always been the choice to not believe – though it takes some skill to exist in a society /clan that punishes this.

There has always been an innate Bullsh&t detector that we choose to ignore or over ride.

Some societies get very skilled. After several months in the USSR I was able to read any newspaper /official notices in Russian & interpret the politburo angle /parallel universe just like most citizens. Few believed or took it as fact.

As a big newspaper freak for ever I only recently (late 2007 ) took on American Journalism. I had never got a grip before but I soon found myself in sync with the WSJ. I discovered why later -it being an Australian operation post 07.

I am still way adrift of the rest of American journalism . I have experience in left journals galore but have never been able to complete an artice in The Atlantic or New Yorker ever.

You are a world of your own . I don’t even think it is a case of code like Vaclav Havel used in his drama . It is all very obtuse & somewhat stupid even at the highest level.

The only action in Sanford, FL today so far, is a scraggly group of ‘students’ with a painted sheet, who marched and a group of six who are blocking the police station door. There were no visible/audible Black Panthers nor Neo-Nazis.

Conservative radio talk show host Frank Beckman reported that the neo-nazi’s were patrolling in Sanford-
