Bachmann Suspending Campaign

Bachmann Suspending Campaign

Michele Bachmann is holding a press conference any minute.  She is expected to announce she is “suspending” her presidential campaign.

Video to be added when available. It was a classy speech.

Good news for Romney. The not-Romney vote will still be split between Newt, Perry, and Santorum. Who knows if Huntsman will help or hurt Romney, but those of us who are hoping beyond all odds for a brokered election or a February entry would be apt to cheer Huntsman on. If he can keep Romney from a blowout win in NH, it would do irreparable damage to his inevitability narrative.

What could have been for Bachmann. I still believe if she had gone all out nuclear on Romney instead of Perry (at a point when the base had fallen in love with Perry and were longing for Romney’s many flaws to be revealed,) she could have preserved her spot at/near the top.

I somehow posted this under the wrong post:

First time for everything I guess…

Bye bye, Me…Me…Mechele

Sad. Not because Bachmann ever had a chance — but now we lose the only pretty face in the candidate crowd.

She has spent lots of money working herself into a tight space. Not only does she wasted all this time, she has neglected her Congressional reelection while Minnesota works to gerrymander her district.

She can only hope for a Mitt win and that she gets an offer of the VP slot from him. It could happens, especially if he feels a need to heal the dramatic party split along philosophical lines.

She was a very weak candidate. She used silly platitudes (NewtRomney) and attacked other candidates needlessly. I thought she was an empty “suit” with little accomplishment ie Obama lite. She kept insisting she could beat Obama but how? What exactly has she done?

It would be a huge mistake for anyone to name her VP.

I too thought Bachmann was premature to run for the White House after five nondescript years in the House. Yes, she’s religious – along with 75% of the country. Yes, she foster parented kids – millions outright adopt them, my wife and I included. Yes, she’ll get sharp-tongued on Obama – along with about 60% of the country. Why Bachmann as opposed to any number of other two-termer congressmen? It didnt help that when I heard the liberal nastiness about her ‘crazy eyes’, suggesting religious fervor bordering on pathology, I had to admit I’d wondered the same at times.

Not to denigrate her accomplishments at all, but a whole lot of Americans can match and surpass them.

Actually, this will hurt Romney…one less candidate to split the conservative base. Newt has essentially issued a fatwa on Romney and will become an anti-Romney suicide bomber. Perry is on the ropes while Santorum gets a second wind. The game continues and Romney does not get a quick knock out. The long this drags out the worse for Romney AND for Obama as the MSM and spotlight is on the GOP races, it’s ideas and its arguments.

Not too mention Ron Paul hangs around for entertainment.

Huntsman who???

One last thing, you know Bachmann was in trouble when she put all of her hopes in the Iowa straw poll as well as hire Ed “the snake” Rollins.

Anyone wanna bet that if Romney wins the primaries he’ll pick Bachmann?

Bachmann will be kicked to the curb with only a few bucks for cab fare. She rendered her services and now it’s time to leave via the back door.
