In order to commence suit in court for return of the drone, demand must be made and the persons in possession of the drone must be given a reasonable opportunity to return the drone to its rightful owner. Absent such demand, there is no justiciable cause of action.
So of course we had to ask for it back. They’ll be hearing from our lawyers.

U.S. and Iran Reach Agreement on Missing Drone

Working late into the early morning hours, President Obama and Iranian President I’mADinnerJacket negotiated a definitive agreement the provides for the return of one of the U.S. stealth drone unmanned aircraft. The Iranians mysteriously captured the aircraft more than a week ago.
Tensions between the two countries have been high. The aircraft contains highly sensitive, state of the art technology believed to be possessed only by the U.S. on the world stage. When Mr. Obama asked Mr. I’mADinnerJacket to return the high tech aircraft, Mr. I’mADinnerJacket took a tough negotiating stance. Sources close to the negotiations say I’mADinnerJacket demanded that Mr. Obama ask for the drone’s return using nicer language. Mr. Obama agreed, saying, “Can we have our drone back. Pretty please with sugar on top.”
Another highly placed source tells Legal Insurrection Newswire that Mr. I’mADinnerJacket immediately accepted the offer. The two world leaders sealed the deal with an historic pinky swear.

Which to believe, which to believe?–
1. Obama is a glib idiot. This incident is in keeping with returning the White House’s bust of Churchill, giving Queen Elizabeth a copy of his speeches, and bowing to the Japanese emperor and Saudi despot.
2. Obama is beginning to lay the groundwork for military action against Iran, by a remarkable coincidence during his reelection campaign.
3. Obama is a glib idiot who is being manipulated to lay the groundwork for military action against Iran.
You know, returning it–after dragging the process out, making the US say double plus pretty please, and exacting maximum humiliation-might be the Iranians’ best move. It would give leverage to the their collaborators and useful idiots. It would help Obama, who would spin the return as a triumph of smart diplomacy, to get reelected. If the craft were returned sans essential intelligence assets, I wouldn’t expect the administration to stress that aspect.
