The ABC News interview with Gabrielle Giffords was worth watching except for one moment, when ABC decided that it could not put on a widely-watched full hour program without smearing Sarah Palin by trying to connect Palin’s electoral map to the Giffords shooting (via Newsbusters):
I have addresed this smear many times before. There is no evidence that Jared Loughner, who was determined to be mentally unfit for trial, ever saw the electoral map or was even political. This was a false meme circulated by left-wing bloggers which then was picked up by the anti-Palin mainstream media.

Help me if I’m incorrect. Wasn’t Jared Loughner a 9-11 truther, anti-capitalist, and anti-Christian?? Sounds like a typical Obama supporter to me.
I would assert he is the founder of the OWS movement.

I am enjoying the Winter here in Tucson where it is sunny and in the mid 70’s. You should see the fluff pieces the local newspaper is doing to earn their Gifford knee pads.
Many of the residents of her district CD8 are upset because they have no effective representation while she spends her recovery time in Houston. Actually I understand from some of the locals that, because her husband was an astronaut based in Houston, her real residence has been Houston all along.
There is a feeling among many that, while sympathetic to her injuries, she is being selfish and self centered to hold on to a job she is no longer able to do.
It’s the elephant (or donkey?) in the room: Eventually, District 8 voters will be asked to re-elect a woman who suffered a point-blank shotgun blast through her skull. That she survived is a touching story of perseverance and love. That she is considering going back to Washington with brain damage — literally, not jokingly — is lunacy.
Diane Sawyer didn’t have the guts to ask Giffords if she knew what she was voting on when she returned to the Congressional chambers August 1st for the debt ceiling compromise bill. Even though the bill passed by a nearly two-thirds margin among Republicans, if Giffords hadn’t voted “yes,” the final tally among Democrats would have been 94 “yes,” 95 “no.” If it ended like that, it would have been a black eye to President Obama. So they dragged her out of recovery and told her which button to push.
Insensitive of me to say? Perhaps. But you know it’s true.
Incorrect about Jared Loughner ‘not being political’. Insofar as Jard Loughner had a political orientation, he was leftist democrat. The Communist Manifesto and other leftist Marxist works were listed as his favorite books on his facebook page, as well as his fellow students describing his as a democrat. (Though of course, he was more crazy than anything else.)
Please tell me why the rest of us should worry about some nut being influenced by something we say or do. We can’t live our lives on this premise. There will always be nuts in this world and we cannot allow them to inflluence us. However, in this case, this is just dim media grasping at straws. They can’t find anything legitimate to bash Palin with so they make stuff up.How many lies have been refuted? How many false ethic charges have been dismissed? They are still trying to destroy her and are coming up empty.

There is only one word for Walters behavior – despicable. On the other hand, it’s funny that these people have to rely on name-dropping to up their ratings. I always wish people like that double what they wish on others.
I no longer watch ABC nightly news and so I had no idea what BS they are spewing until I saw this post.
What the hell did Sarah Palin have to do with Gabby giffords!?!?! And heck, I don’t really even like Palin that much! But stop smearing that woman!

And maybe its just me, but I’d getting a bit annoyed that the other people who were injured or killed in that tragic event are never mentioned, there is never a status of how they are doing, no real reference to them, its all only focused on Giffords. And I wish the congresswoman the best and the speediest recovery, but I’m getting just a bit annoyed at no mention or reference to the others whose lives were forever changed. She writes a book? I just heard about that, I found that very strange on her part.
Everyday I thank gawd for the internet and sites like Drudge, Fox and these blogs. If I didn’t have access to such, I too would be a mushroom in a dark room.
These visceral attacks are deliberate fabrications of the mainstream media which is the chief tool of the democrat operatives.
The savaging that was inflicted on Cain in any normal society would be labeled libelous simply due to lack of foundation for the accusations. Once the competent candidates are neutralized, we’ll end up with Romney who I don’t see as at all inspirational.
IF Obama somehow is re-elected the fault will squarely be laid at the feet of the RNC for once again failing to fight fire with fire.
