What’s new in the #OccupyWorld?

The untold or at least not sufficiently told story here is the role of the Canadian firm AdBusters in organizing these protests.  Your links and info. would help me in pulling that story together.

I also found quite interesting and distrubing the accounts of Obama as a loner, disconnected,  in the White House relying almost exclusively on Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod.

The reports are not good, disturbing even. I have heard basically the same  story four times in the last 10 days, and the people doing the talking are in  New York and Washington and are spread across the political spectrum.

The gist is this: President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his  own government. He talks mostly, and sometimes only, to friend and adviser  Valerie Jarrett and to David Axelrod, his political strategist.

Spooky and scary, if you ask me, to have Howard Hughes in the White House.

Be sure also to check out Stacy McCain’s question to Herman Cain regarding the Lawrence O’Donnell interview (my prior post here), with the now classic question, ‘Mr. Cain, Who Is Lawrence O’Donnell to Tell You How to Be a Black Man?’

I don’t see how he wouldn’t be depressed and increasingly distant. He’s probably the least accomplished man to ever be in the White House, and it shows. Boy, does it ever show. He came into town believing his own hype, and nothing has gone the way it was supposed to. His party is in ruins, as is the economy, and the much heralded speeches of the past ain’t doing it any more. His party is turning on him, and even the press has lost that loving feeling. This might well be the first major setback that he’s suffered in his seemingly charmed adult life, and those are some awfully hard lessons to have to start learning at 50.

In that situation, who wouldn’t be depressed and reclusive?

I’m considering going down to the protests on Wednesday to debate with some of them and, if I can find a cameraman, record it. Anyone have things I should look to take pictures of / questions you would like asked of them?

Take proper precautions. I suggest a full body Tyvex suit, boots and gloves, and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Perhaps a call to the FDNY after the fact, asking for a decontamination unit, might be advisable.

Better safe than sorry, my friend.

Why bother? None of them have an actual thought in their heads. They’re drug-addled fools and brain-washed dupes, seasoned with a handful looking for an excuse to get violent.

To all of those college graduates complaining about their student loans, I would preface a question with this: “Do you have something against President Obama’s Affordable Care Act?” I expect their answer will be no, or of course not. “Well, since March of 2010, your student loan interest has been used to fund the Affordable Care Act, so either quit complaining about it on signs, or take your complaints to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue”.

      Awing1 in reply to sybilll. | October 11, 2011 at 7:29 am

      This I will do, thanks!

Although that seems like a terrible way to pay for anything, if the students at my undergrad were any indication of the quality of student these days, there are going to be a lot of defaults coming.

That the presidency has been reduced to Obama consulting almost exclusively with a Chicago slum lord like Valerie Jarrett is very disturbing. The leader of the free world shuts himself off from the world like an angst-ridden teenager while keeping short office hours. God help us. We have a mentally-disturbed president.

I have the feeling we are going to be learning a lot more than we want to know about “Narcissistic Personality Disorder” and what happens when it manifests itself.

Frankly, the meme sounds like the plot of the movie “Dave“, which should leave us wondering … where is the real Barack Obama ?

turfmann in reply to Neo. | October 10, 2011 at 8:01 pm

Mentally, he is still upon the lap of Frank Marshall Davis – and all that that implies.

    WarEagle82 in reply to Neo. | October 10, 2011 at 9:18 pm

A better questions is whether there IS a real Barack Obama. This man and his friends and allies have told so many lies about Barack Obama that it must be very confusing for him to keep the lies straight.

Does this evoke memories and fears of Nixon’s downward spiral in late 1973 and 1974 before he resigned? Where is Obama’s “Al Haig” to make sure self-destructive military orders are not carried out if Obama continues down a similar path?

IT started in Toledo today, nurtured by two professors from BGSU who have strong ties to Obama. Personally I think all these people are going to be hurting themselves with all the stories of public pooping and sex, drug use, etc. Discover the Networks has extensive research on the origins of this mess under OWS. I had done some research on AdBusters too.

From the OccupyToledo website:
Q: I hear that Adbusters organized Occupy Wall Street? Or Anonymous? Or US Day of Rage? Just who put this together anyway? A: All of the above, and more. Adbusters made the initial call in mid-July, and also produced a very sexy poster with a ballerina posed atop the Charging Bull statue and riot police in the background. US Day of Rage, the mainly internet-based creation of IT strategist Alexa O’Brien, got involved too and did a lot of the early legwork and tweeting. Anonymous—in its various and multiform visages—joined in late August. On the ground in New York, though, most of the planning was done by people involved in the NYC General Assembly, a collection of activists, artists and students first convened by folks who had been involved in New Yorkers Against Budget Cuts. That coalition of students and union workers had just finished a three-week occupation near City Hall called Bloombergville protesting the mayor’s plans for budget cuts and layoffs. They had learned from the experience and were itching to do it again, this time with the hope of having a bigger impact. But no one person or group is running the Wall Street occupation entirely. ”

So who are adbusters and what are their goals? They simply want to wreck the economy and this country. I got this from activistcash.com

“We will wreck this world,” Kalle Lasn declares in his book Culture Jam: How to Reverse America’s Suicidal Consumer Binge — and Why We Must. That, quite simply, is the goal of the Vancouver-based organization he founded and runs. A self-described group of “anarchists” and “neo-Luddites,” Adbusters are not merely environmentalists, animal-rights activists, anti-technology activists, or neo-Prohibitionists. They are all these things and more.
They are “united in hate. “

reminds me more of Hitler in ’45 – ordering around divisions and armies that no longer existed, while the world fell apart around him.

I have only visited The Other McC for a month or so . I have stopped going because links on his site are pornographic. I don’t mean the ads – the actual ‘articles’.

It is a very creepy mix when he posts pics of his 8 year old daughter along with the porn.

Huh? I’ve never seen any porn over there. Never even seen nudity. He does do posts of scantily clad women sometimes, but it seems to be pretty tongue in cheek, to drive hits on his website.

Proff Jacobson…I saw that story …. honestly a few hair on the back of my neck twitched. As far as the OWS thingy …..I like them ….think about it …..there is only 1 good thing that can happen and that is nothing at all and a whole host and I mean scads and scads of bad things that can go wrong with it. I live close enough to the city that if the fire was big enough I could probably see the glow. Failing 1 massively huge orgy of stupid then we will be treated to a daily parade of news stories like we have seen ….. criminals hiding out there …. dope ….. I’m sure the homeless from all over the city are trickling in. Anyway I have seen some of the interviews with these folks and trust me the indivigual wack adoo furries these folks have are bad enough take them and throw them into that stew there and I don’t think God himself could with certainty tell you what might happen ….make some popcorn …put your feet up ….watch the show

then there is this

O’Keeforama!… What the Far Left Doesn’t Know About “Wall Street O’Keefe” Might Hurt Them
Posted by Jim Hoft on Monday, October 10, 2011, 4:56 PM

Uh-Oh.
The far left pro-Obama supporting Occupy Wall Street loons captured video of James O’Keefe today at Camp #Poopstock and passed the video clip to Gawker.

Go here Mr. Jacobson in case you haven’t seen it

Valerie Jarrett = Obama’s Rasputin

Its a measure of how completely in the tank the so-called mainstream media is that this isn’t a national scandal.

Isn’t this how the zombies got walled into to NYC in the movie “Escape from New York”? Now would be an excellent time to declare Manhattan a federal high security prison and close it off.

    * GRIN * …wait another week or 2 …as we speak there are hundreds of these freaks desending on the city….as long as the weather stays nice

Die Preise hoch, Kartelle fest geschlossen
Das Kapital marschiert mit leisem Schritt.
Die Börsianer sind nun Parteigenossen
Und für das Kapital sorgt nun Herr Schmitt.

This could be chanted today… Spooky indeed.

The usual suspects

OWS – The progressive’s last stand, the beginning of the American Rouge, Ruling Class lightning rod, seed of a new mass movement, counterweight to the Tea Party or the ultimate scheme to insure Obama’s re-election?

Who gets gets what from whom? Cui bono? Was Wall Street’s $1.2 billion in political donations well spent? Follow the money. Remember the state of New York, that Democrat bastion, gets a majority of it’s income from the Wall Street golden goose. Blue Connecticut, New York City, and NJ also receive a great deal of money from Wall Street activity. The federal government receives a majority of it’s income from the wealthy. The Democrat party – statist, redistributionist – depends on Wall Street for it’s continued existence.

There is another flow of money to be followed. Who is funding the various organizations who initiated, supported and are building upon OWS.

“While many Democrats have praised the protesters, some officials in the party remain wary of their potential impact — especially if the protests were to turn more disruptive or even violent.

“That’s the danger with something like this — that you go from peaceful protests to throwing trash cans,” said a senior House Democratic official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“Sure, there’s been some crazy anarchy stuff, but over all, the Democrats like their message about Wall Street and accountability,” the official said. “It overlaps with our own message.”

Matt Bennett, vice president for Third Way, a Democratic policy institute in Washington that favors a more centrist approach, said he believes the angry and sometimes radical tone of the protests may turn off moderate swing voters who will be critical in the 2012 elections, just as many moderates are put off by the rhetoric of the Tea Party on the right.

Embracing the protests may prove a mistake for Democrats, Mr. Bennett said. “There’s not much upside,” he said, “and there’s a lot of downside.”

Robert Reich, the former labor secretary under President Bill Clinton, wrote in a blog posting Friday that the protesters’ demands on taxes dovetail with Democrats’ themes, but he said the protests should still make the party wary — in part because Democrats rely on Wall Street for significant campaign contributions.”

Spooky and scary, if you ask me, to have Howard Hughes in the White House…”
Professor, who is Howard Hughes?
It would be very interesting to poll your readers and find out what generation they are. You seemed to be a baby boomer in light of the many music videos from the 70s posted and the Howard Hughes reference(yes, I googled). However, from your comments’ sections there seem to be a lot of millennialist generation(born after 1985)posting(your students?)
How about a poll? babyboomer? generation X? or millennialist?

You can find a nice long article discussing Kalle Lasen, founder of AdBusters, and his leading role in the Occupy protests at the following blog post:

Interesting comments, too, with good info to follow up for the post you are writing. Teresa has also written several other posts that you might like to read since you are collecting reference materials for your own article.
