A hefty serving of snark

A hefty serving of snark

As some of you may recall, Meghan McCain started a twitter war with Prof. Jacobson after she misread both the content and the author of a post earlier this year.

As a consequence, I’ve avoided taking jabs at McCain the younger from fear that she might misread them again. (Worse, maybe this time she would mistake my remarks for compliments!) However, this letter posted on PajamasMedia from a RedState lawyer to McCain’s lawyer made me laugh out loud and it would be wrong of me to deprive the LI readership.

Best line: “My client will not be bullied out of exercising his First Amendment right to make clear his belief that your client is a spoiled, brainless twit who is cheapening the political discourse in this country. Therefore, henceforth, the “Totally Meghan McCain” series may be found at http://pajamasmedia.com for your client’s reading pleasure.”

Hmm, I really liked the letter, and at the same time I was listening to a game soundtrack. Somehow the heavy industrial/orchestra track was building up as I read, and the music hit it’s high note/crescendo as I got to the professional/personal comments by the lawyer.

A very good read and it made me feel warm inside. ^^ Thanks for posting this. It made a very crappy day turn out right for once.

Oh, my God. That is a laugh out loud classic. I imagine that there was cause to summon paramedics to the lawyers offices such was the degree of laughter.

That letter was a triple chocolate torte, cheesecake with cherries – it was *that* delicious.

It may be gilding the lily, but I made a small tweak (in italics) to the letter:

“My client will not be bullied out of exercising his First Amendment right to make clear his belief that your client is a spoiled, brainless twit who is cheapening the political discourse in this country, which is not easy to do.”

Absolutely brilliant.

Love the letter! I especially enjoye vthe bit about the “Herculean task” of getting Totally Meghan to understand she’s wrong.

Fan-damn-tastic! 😀

“To my surprise, on a re-reading, I discovered that you were apparently serious.”

I’m not sure it is legal to pay someone having that kind of fun.

Maybe in Nevada…

Unfortunately near the end someone failed to proofread the letter and it makes the attorney seem amateurish.

2nd to last paragraph:

“On a personal and professional note, I am of the firm conviction that the world is a worse place because of unscrupulous lawyers who force people and companies to
forego their legal rights simply because they don’t want to pay the fees lawyers (I assume that “charge” was meant to go here) to defend themselves – even from suits that are meritless on their face.”

I know; picky, picky, picky.

I don’t disagree with the sentiment but I think that a lawyer should be very exacting when putting thought to paper.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put my thoughts down and was so proud of having thoroughly expressed myself only to find that I misspelled a word or left off a word or words and made the whole composition look poorly thought out.

Ask the Professor about students failing to proofread their work.

“forego”?

I’m sure it’s funny but in my opinion RedState jumped the shark with their ongoing Meghan McCain parodies and fat jokes about her. And in regards to just about everything else too.

Can’t say that I’m surprised. The daughter of the cosponsor for the McCain-Feingold law sent an attorney after a guy for making and obvious parody of her.
